For me, I always found a comfort in spirituality and not a conformed religion. I want to access my spirituality in a more knowledgeable and intentional way with the resources I have at hand.
What do you hope to achieve while learning Witchcraft?
I hope to achieve a powerful intuition and manifest more creativity into my life. I also want to create more meaningful ideas and have a higher sensibility.
What fears you in following this path?
I find a fear of not doing it right, just because I have so much insecurity when it comes to spirituality and witchcraft, that needs to be worked on internally, but I would like to be respectful as I can while practicing this craft.
What do you feel when you think of God/Goddess?
In a spiritual sense, I feel comforted in knowing there is a higher all knowing power. I have always felt spiritual, but in a different way than my peers growing up. I see a higher power in so much of nature and human interactions. I see “God” as an atmospheric power constantly around us.
What does the Divine/Spiritual World mean to you?
Elaborating more, the spiritual world is in relation with us as well as in a place not seen to mortals. The supernatural, in my eyes, is around us at all times to guide and warn us, but they are knowing in the sense that there is a place only they can access and are able to intentionally exist.
For me, being a witch means that I have control over my life. I do not have to be a bystander to my own existence.
What fears you in following this path?
I cannot say that I have any FEAR. The only thing that hinders or stunts my choice, is what others may think. But, that is their issue, not mine.
What do you feel when you think of God/Goddess?
Well, I am not a Wiccan, so I do not follow a God/Goddess.
What does the Diving/Spiritual World mean to you?
I do not necessarily see it as something different as in a heaven. Divine/Spiritual world to me is the soul/conscious/energy/mind. So the spiritual world to me, is learning to not rely on what is here on earth, because there is something else there. I have come to the realization, that I do not need to know all the facts to practice and believe. There is more than this physical life and planet. The divine/spiritual world for me is accepting that this “shell” of mine, will not live forever, so I need to prepare now, as much as I am able to, for the next stage of my existence.

You´re not alone with this, many witches and practitioners have that fear, especially when it comes to “backfireing” of spells.
I´m always adding one sentence to every spell or working that I do, and it made all of the difference for me:
“This or something better for the highest good of all concerned”
If my spell is not for the highest good of all concerned, it simply will not manifest. This is my anchor.
Hi, I´m Katharina, an art-witch and art therapist from Vienna, Austria! I´m practicing magick very much through art making! I love altar craft, candle making, poppet work, spell boxes, jars and all kinds of creative magic shenanignas. Working in my Book of Shadows is a big part of my practice. I love all things tarot and practice this art since many moons.
The forum is huge and it takes time to get to know everything. The people here are very sweet and helpful, so just make yourself known if there´s any questions, someone will certainly show up to help you.
Welcome to the forum! I’m Bry, an Eclectic Witch and one of the moderators. Just wanted to pop by and say hi. It’s very nice to meet you!
As a fellow practitioner who spends a lot of time working with creative energies, I think this is a wonderful goal. May I ask what kind of art or creative work you enjoy doing?
Hmm. That I accept who I am and that I’m different. And that’s a good thing. I accept that I listen more to the Moon and the Earth than some old dude on a cloud. I accept that there are things I can’t understand that move in the world, and that they affect me. To me, being a witch is acceptance. Always a nice feeling.
I tend to focus on the spirituality. I want to learn to connect to the gods or spirits. I want to feel comforted when I do a spell and know that it’s working.
Hmm. I think my worst fear, is that when we die, there’s nothing. It’s the end. I doubt it, simply because science says nothing disappears, just changes. Mass turns into energy. The log is consumed by fire and is turned into heat and ash. But I won’t really know until I die. And that’s a scary thought.
I get a Mom vibe. LOL! Seriously, the one dream I had about the goddess that I can remember well had her in regular clothes, telling me I should ask for what I need. So while I can see the Goddess Brigid in Celtic gowns and things like that, I can also see her in jeans and a shirt, working at a forge or in the kitchen. I’m weird like that, but I think the gods would update themselves to fit into the modern world.
A world that’s the same as our own, but on a higher vibration or level. And there are spots where we’re connected, and that’s part of what causes hauntings. But just like the atmosphere, there’s more than one layer. So different beings hang out on different levels, with the gods at the penthouse.
So yeah, that’s me! I know I have odd answers, but there ya go!
Ah! You started something interesting. Let me add my perspective?
To be acceptable in some way because I wasn’t before. Even though my path is a bit different from Wicca or anything else I have studied, witches have been much more accepting of an odd duck. Meanwhile, I find I can be more accepting as well without the intense rules enforced upon pain of death or loss of soul.
To have meaning in my life other than to follow blindly and be someone’s sheep. I always took offense at the choices offered: be a sheep or a goat and don’t let the wolves get you. There are many more critters out there in this big world! What if I’m a mouse? Or a unicorn? Or a bird? Or all of the above?
To have a modicum of control in my own life so I can comfortably follow my own path. Witchcraft gifts us with the knowledge to attain what we desire in life as well as the cautions so we can make a wise choice. This choice was sorely lacking in the system within which I grew, yet the system touted its own form of freedom of choice and said it was the only form.
Reduced confusion! Yes, there is more out there to learn from, but somehow, that vast array of possibilities erases or perhaps explains away contradictions! I grew up feeling like contradictions like this ought to be removed rather than learning to live with them as someone else’s choices.
I’m allowed to be myself. I put this in separately from acceptance, though there are connections between the two. Even if I were so confused as to not be myself, I would find a form of acceptance, here. It is freeing in a way that I can explore and find a deeper meaning within. If I am truly allowed to be myself, I can shine in ways enforced systems will not allow or respect.
Respect is another big one. I find I have more respect for my fellow practitioners, knowing they also have the freedom to grow and shine with more choices, more wisdom, and the strength to choose something outside the box.
I have realized a lot of the issues in my life were not my fault. There is a great freedom in this. I did my best with what I had. I can better accept myself, now that I have a greater understanding of cause and effect within social mores. Back when I was at fault for everything, I couldn’t accept the concept of doing one’s best with what one had because I wasn’t acceptable, no matter what I did. I can now be more gentle with others as well as with myself, and others can be more gentle with me due to the relaxed rules. It all creates a better way of life from which I can feel more secure so I can step out of my limits and explore what was truly created for all of us.
I don’t know anymore. I have had good times. I’ve learned a lot. Whatever is new to me can be good as well, but my sense of imagination is like the alchemical woodcut of the man half through the dome. It’s all beyond my ken at the moment. There’s a whole universe out there, ready for the exploring. Personal ideas can only limit my experience via expectation. I choose to witness and get involved rather than attempt to control.
At the moment, I feel disconnected from my origins due to traumatic experiences. Real life interposed and doesn’t seem to want to let go. What if I cannot reconnect? There is a sense of wandering, like I may not be on my path anymore. Yet if we create the path with every step we take, it is not possible to be off my path. It is simply muddled for the moment rather than a straight line between points A and B. This muddling can be useful as exploration, creating its own form of healing and growth. I choose to make the best of it.
What about witchcraft scares me? Nothing anymore. I’ve had a lot of experience with it in the last 36 years. I’m not negatively surprised by much within witchcraft anymore. There are upsetting developments on occasion to get through, but most of those are from external sources which don’t understand what they are harming; and there are pleasant developments for me to relax into and enjoy.
I recently went through something odd in my faith. I’ve always been one to work with anyone who wishes to work with me, but that broke during Covid. I lost my last beneficial connection in May of 2020, and was besieged with someone I felt the need to fight against. It is going to take quite a bit for me to learn to trust again. They exist. I simply don’t feel like reaching out to them anymore.
I guess I’m in the process of researching that at the moment. My doctor recently acted like I was going to die before my next birthday. How inconvenient! I’d rather be on better terms with my beliefs before I suddenly show up on their doorstep. Still, what if my origin was off base in the first place? I acknowledge I have much to learn.
At the same time, I feel comforted that there is something bigger than us toward which we must behave, something beyond our understanding for which we can reach and continue to learn when the mysteries of this world have all lost their sense of awe. It is holding space for wonder so we can return to something from our youth when things made more sense, and it caps lawlessness in ways mere physics is not respected. I guess there is a sense of justice I can hide behind if some idiot tries to recreate the Inquisition; not that it would save a life, but that I could know the pain is caused by man’s inhumanity to man rather than through some fault in my own choices and way of life.
I believe in living my own life, making my own choices, and living with the responsibility so that I can learn my own lessons rather than suffering the consequences of someone else’s ignorance. Yet I still have things to unlearn which were imposed upon me from outside myself when there was no wisdom to follow.
These questions have been great! Thank you for posing them as well as helping us get to know you through your point of view! Keep asking!
Everyone feels this way with anything new. Don’t let it become a stumbling block for you. This too will pass with experience, and confidence will grow. You will be fine. I honor your desire to be respectful. Thank you for the gift you offer in this.
Except when we’re trying to lose weight!
Since To Know is one part of the Witch’s Pyramid, can we hope for more brilliant questions to enjoy in the future? I hope so. Thank you.
