For me, it’s been mostly birds!
In my early 20s it was common for job interviews to have a psychological test, and they would ask questions such as “what is your favorite animal?” to see what the answer was. I would always say a bird (like an eagle) which probably wasn’t the best answer for a job interview! 
They represent freedom and not being stuck in a job! According to worldbirds.org:
When a bird opens its wings to soar freely, they let go of all their worries and fly above in the heavens and deliver divine messages to the ones that need them the most
They connect the humans to the spirits above and materialize ‘as above, so below.’
