Spirit Animals šŸ¦

Whenever an animal shows up repetitively, it is a spiritual sign to pay attention. Animal guides enter your life to give you messages from beyond and also reassure you that you are on the right path. So if you see an animal often, the Universe is telling you something.

Iā€™ve been seeing a crow a lot lately so I thought Iā€™d look it up and see if there was some hidden meaning behind itā€¦or if I could figure out what message this crow was trying to convey to me.

Crow Symbolism:
Stands for power, intelligence, creativity, courage, flexibility, adaptability, higher perspective, being fearless, trickster, mischievous, manipulative, and mystery.

As a spirit animal: You could be intuitive, manipulative, honest, adaptable and strong willed. Typically you are quick to accept change, you are just as fast to move forward with new opportunities when presented. You tend to be family oriented so you will always be the one to check in with the elders in the family.

In dreams: Suggestive of signals about life, death or sudden changes that trigger you to use wisdom instead of emotions.

Have you had an animal repeatedly show up for you? Are you listening to their message?

For me, itā€™s been mostly birds!

In my early 20s it was common for job interviews to have a psychological test, and they would ask questions such as ā€œwhat is your favorite animal?ā€ to see what the answer was. I would always say a bird (like an eagle) which probably wasnā€™t the best answer for a job interview!

They represent freedom and not being stuck in a job! According to worldbirds.org:

When a bird opens its wings to soar freely, they let go of all their worries and fly above in the heavens and deliver divine messages to the ones that need them the most

They connect the humans to the spirits above and materialize ā€˜as above, so below.ā€™

Thanks for this post, Laurie! As far as I know, there are many ways to find your animal guide! :cat2:

I feel like I see animal signs in phases. For a while, there were elephants :elephant: which remind me of my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Then there was a time where I saw bears :bear: repeatedly and felt a strong connection with them. Last night I had a dream with a wolf in it- it wasnā€™t quite clear, and the perspective kept changing but for at least a while I was the wolf in my dream :wolf:.

While many seem to have a strong tie to one animal, I guess I have different animals that carry different messages. I am still trying to figure out what they are trying to tell me- itā€™s a work in progress!

Thank you so much for sharing this helpful guide to spirit animals, @SilverBear!

This is too funny :joy: Hopefully the interviewer had a different meaning for birds in mind!

I feel like itā€™s been pretty hard for me to distinguish an animal showing up repeatedly and it being a sign or just because of where I live. Moose are a given, Bears have been coming into the towns SO frequently and at an alarming rate in areas of high traffic, Birds are very common althoughā€¦ now that I think about it. I have been seeing situations of Ravenā€™s being patronized by at least 3-4 Magpieā€™s. Eagleā€™s arenā€™t super common but itā€™s not unusual to see one or two in a weeks time.

It sounds like you are blessed with a lot of wildlife where you live, @janelle! :evergreen_tree:  I can imagine it would be harder to read meanings in animals when you see them every day as part of daily life!

Maybe in such a case, you could associate not only their meanings (either from an animal meaning guide like Animal Symbolism or Spirit Animal: Animal Meanings, or from your own personal associations with each animal) but also their actions.

Perhaps if you see more eagles than usual, it is a sign to take off and try something new :dove: . Or if you catch sight of magpies picking on a raven, it could mean that you need to pay less attention to material goods :moneybag: and focus more on internal matters :woman_in_lotus_position:. Or perhaps that those close to you are trying to learn about one of your secrets .

Have fun with reading the signs that animals bring! And if you see any particularly interesting critters, feel free to share pics! Here in the city life, I love every rare glimpse of wildlife :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Are they scary? Thatā€™s a great spirit guide to have!! :bear: It must be that Iā€™ve never seen one in town!

Itā€™s a little bit frightening. I honestly think the spike in bear sightings is due to Alaska ā€œHunkering downā€ right as they were coming out of their dens. The whole state was pretty quiet. A lot of the villages are still on lockdown. Doesnā€™t help that a lot of folks havenā€™t converted to the bear safe trash cans, they really do make a difference.

Ohhhhh excellent resources on spirit animals :eyes:

Iā€™ve been seeing a lot of the hooded crows lately, and the other day as I was walking by one just stood on the edge of the sidewalk and didnā€™t move as I got closer. He just watched me intently- like he was trying to tell me somethingā€¦

The Spirit Animal Totem site had some interesting interpretations of the meanings of crows:

Conversely, similar to the Cheetah, the Crow symbolism could also be letting you know that you are spreading yourself a little bit too thin. Thus, the Crow meaning insists itā€™s time to step back and reassess where you. You can do this by taking stock of your dreams and aspirations. Moreover, being clear about your desires is the key to manifesting your intentions.

There was a nagging thought in the back of my mind that I was taking on too many projects between school, work, and hobbies lately- I guess this is a sure sign itā€™s time to take a step back!:+1:

Thank you crow, and also thank you for sharing, @Missa!

The Crow is the spirit animal of the Morrigan as well. You just finished a video on Macha, she too transforms into both a horse and a crow. Interesting to consider the connection!

@Missa, great information! Thank you for sharing! How do you know who is your spirit animal? I read about the wolf and it does describe me pretty good! Always had an obsession with wolves, even as a kid. However, how do you distinguish between admiration of an animal or the actual spirit animal?

Mine is a black bear according to a reading I had done with a Shaman. What is your birthday (month and day is all I need) I have a book from Native American culture on spirit guides which coincides on birthdays I can look it up for you.

I donā€™t know that I have an animal that keeps showing up other than my neighborhood bunnies, squirrels, crows, and other birds. @SilverBear would you be able to find my Native American animal? I was born on November 7. I would be interested to find out.
