@MeganB Sending love and thankyou
Feel better soon
I can definitely see how Hephaestus popped into the equation here, and I think that if enough fire shows up, even if indirectly, it’s enough to pay attention to. I think you did a great job with the reading and I actually don’t have anything else to add!
I may come back to this in a few days. I’m feeling better today but I’m still a bit brain-fogged
Aww, thanks for coming back in the first place! I hope your recovery is going well.
Hephaestus/Vulcan makes a ton of sense for this reading. What I think is hilarious is that I’ve always (jokingly) claimed to be a tech-witch, and he’s literally a god of technology, which I find to be very unique. I may be wrong, but I don’t think of a lot of pantheons as having specifically forward-facing deities. The idea that the creative god of the Greek and Roman pantheons have a hand in forward progress makes me happy.
Deletion/Edit: I didn’t reply properly, boo.
I love that he’s a tech god. Loki isn’t a tech god per say, but he sure has fun with the stuff. You’d be amazed how techy deities are, they love WiFi. Happy days for you and Hephaestus.
Heheh. I think I’m going to get him a candle and see if he likes it. Fire for the fire god!
It’s amazing, I was so drawn to Hestia (and I might still favor her), but it was sort of stilted because I was caught up in needing a deity, as opposed to needing a purpose.
Quieting down and doing some self-reflection has really aided my mental well-being, as well as my craft.
Hey, nothing wrong with being a tech-witch! I can relate to that feeling, though. I work closely with Brighid who is also a deity of fire and the Forge – such a connection to blacksmithing! Blacksmithing is actually the ancient precursor to modern engineering and technology. I once was drawn to petition Brighid for help with my vehicle when it was struggling. Turns out that blacksmithing was also a precursor to the modern engine
so my intuition was correct!
Anyway, I’m blabbering on I wanted to mention, too, that in Greek belief, Hestia was also often honored in every house. I can’t remember if she was offered to before everyone else or after everyone else (or maybe both!) but she was and is very important to Greek pagans, too!
Please tell me how it goes!! I’m honestly fascinated with the idea of choosing him as a deity to work with. It’s not something I would have thought of on my own, but those cards… and now that I have it in my head, I’m really intrigued with what he’d be like to work with. I will admit I have an extreme fondness for the Greek Pantheon followed closely by the Roman.
Alright, lovelies. I’m working through a twelve-card reading with the deity in question, and I’m finding it interesting so far. So! I’m doing it live! …Ish. No streaming involved.
I am following this spread found on Backyard Banshee’s website. Beware of ads!
Card One, plus additional attributes
Q: Who are you?
A: I am hard work, tempered by efficiency. I subvert the establishment with new ideas. I am careful planning and bold first steps.
Cards Two and Three
Q: Tell me your mythos.
A: I am cooperation. I rebel against conflict. I make peace with my enemies. Edit: Alternatively, I provide the armaments in the conflict.
Q: Tell me of the secret you.
A: I am a sense of warmth and nostalgia. I am the happier times you put behind you.
Cards Four, Five, and Six
Q: What would you have me know right now?
A: Opportunity knocks! Why do you waste your investments so? You begin over and over again with no conclusion in sight!
Q: What would we accomplish together?
A: You need grounding in order to bring about good things. I can help you with that.
Q: What will we not speak on?
A: Do not come to me with your lack of commitment. I am not your arbiter of inspiration.
Cards Seven, Eight, and Nine
Q: What do you wish of me?
A: End your isolation. Return to society and share your light! You are in an echo chamber of your own design, unconducive to my will.
Q: What do I have to offer?
A: Look at your work desk! It is piled high with unanswered questions and unrealized dreams. You are a raw material, ready to be shaped.
Q: What will our relationship be?
A: I will challenge you at every step. I will throw you into the fire and beat the weakness from your body. What was once soft will harden into iron.
Cards Ten, Eleven, and Twelve
Q: What offerings do you desire?
A: Fire. And you know what they say, the best apology is changed behavior: offer your completed work to me.
Q: How may I honor you daily?
A: Dream constantly. Fill your days with happy surprises and creative whimsy.
Q: How will I witness you?
A: In those who praise you, and shower you with accolades. Do as I have said, and you will see me in the fruits of your labor.
CW: alcohol
Okay, so. I know I was already inclined towards Hêphaistos from our discussions, but these cards were pretty straightforward. Thoughts? Any patterns I might be missing, or misinterpretations?
Also, I love how Judgement showed up: both a Fire sign and a creative astrological alignment in Pluto.
Also also, I’m all dizzy now! Gonna get some of the clear stuff (water, not vodka).
Edit: Holy moly, Judgement is technically one of Hêphaistos’ cards, according to some witches! Wild!
I mean… maybe I’m looking for confirmation rather than starting all over from scratch, but I see Hephaestos here as well.
Thanks for sharing another diety tarot spread, I was nosey yesterday and asked if I had someone new deity-wise or someone I’d overlooked in my life and did the first deity spread and didn’t come to a clear answer.
Enjoyed reading the next step on your journey!
Thank you, Artemisia!
And of course: sometimes ritual questioning is on the menu for getting to know your deity. I’m very interested in hearing about the developments you experience in identifying this new (or old!) presence in your life.
I’m discovering that I love writing about not only tarot divination but also the interactions I’ve had with Hêphaistos.
But is there a difference? The latter just means “little water.”
Pffft! Get behind me! I don’t need any more spirits for tonight.
