I want to buy a Deck of Tarot Card. Can anyone reccomend me what Deck is the best and where to get them.
I suggest browsing and looking for one that speaks to you personally. That is how I’ve found all of my decks. There is no universal best one in my humble opinion. When I first saw my go to deck for the past 2 years, I thought “That is the one” and it truly served me well. My intuition has been deeply connected to it. I browsed on Amazon and then if something caught my eye, I’d google it to see if I could find clearer images of all of the cards. I do suggest, though, if you are trying to learn tarot for the first time, perhaps choose a deck with traditional names at least. The images don’t have to be traditional, but if the names of the Major and Minor Arcana are different (some decks have their own versions of each) then it might be confusing as a newbie. I do have one like that and I still find it difficult to use, even after two years. Although some may not have an issue with that.
For me, there were two possibilities. Both were standard Rider Waite decks. One was traditional, the other was traditional with meanings on them.
I think traditional for your first deck is helpful when looking for future decks. You have a good idea what the card means by the pictures. Some decks are somewhat esoteric and if you are just starting, it can be hard connecting to them.
If you are able to use Amazon, then a good deal for a traditional deck is this one that comes with a full size book for explaining the cards. Here is one I got early on. The book is excellent, the deck is good, and the cost is reasonable.
You can go on YouTube and look at tarot deck flip throughs. That’ll give you lots of ideas of what the cards look like and hopefully they’ll tell you what they will feel like.
But if you go through YouTube you will find loads of tarot tricks and decks and will be able to preview what you may be buying.
For instance the Robin Wood Tarot Deck calls to me. It’s very Wiccan and Celtic and beautifully illustrated and based off the Rider Waite tarot enough that I can connect to the images and get use out of it. But you may be called to the traditional Rider Waite Deck. You may like dragons so you feel called to the Dragon Tarot. Or a crow may be your Spirit animal so you would want to focus on The Crow Tarot.
Like the TV show Supernatural? There’s a Tarot Deck for that. I’ve heard a lot of good about the Light Seekers Tarot, but the images don’t call to me.
I’ve tried The Goddess Tarot because it has some of the most beautiful images of the Goddess, all sorts of Goddesses. But the trumps were confusing to me.
I’ve heard good things about the Osho Zen Tarot and the The Orisha Tarot, but I feel more connected to the Celtic/Wiccan nature of the Robin Wood.
All in all, it’s up to you! So go through walk throughs, look on Amazon for sales, and look after some of your favorite authors. I know some have put out tarot decks of their own! After a few flubs you’ll find the perfect one for you!
Hello! In my humble opinion, I think the best deck to start is the classic Rider Waite, they’re very symbolic, easy to learn, and quite beautiful.
If you’re interested in a specific theme, there are thousands based on TV series (like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, House of the Dragon), video games (like Fallout), and famous movies (like Beetlejuice, Back to the Future, Hocus Pocus…).
It all depends on your tastes.
Hey @teodoro
I agree with the others, I think it’s easier to start with a deck that has the classic pictures and keywords to aid learning - but it’s also important that the deck calls to you. And don’t worry, when you see your deck, you’ll know, somewhere in the depths of your soul; and it won’t leave your brain until you get it lol. My first deck has all the information required on each card, including the zodiac, astrology, numerology and yes/no.
I tend to get most of my magickal things from temu, because they’re so much cheaper - the Marvel tarot deck only cost me £3.46 the only problem is the wait, being in the UK means a 1-2 week wait, or more if there’s a delay. I have the patience of a saint except when I’m waiting for a delivery, although when it does eventually arrive it’s like a magickal Christmas
When I have the money and don’t want to wait, I go to Amazon, but that is rare lol. Some shop at Etsy, their prices range as does their magickal content. Have fun!

Yep. You mentioned the Robin Wood deck on another post and I looked it up and got it. I agree, it is easy to connect with and I think the art is an order above ordinary RWS. It also has a better balance of characters IMHO. I would be using it but I got sideswiped by the Tarot of Oppositions. However, the Robin wood is sitting next to me right now.
Another Plus One from me on this. It was the second deck I bought. It is really easy to use. Here is that Tarot Deck It comes with a nice bag, too. It is only 8 dollars US.
I love it! I resisted for a while because of the price but nothing else was right for me so I finally saved up and got it. And I’ve used it ever since! I’ve connected really well to it and I love the images!
