I agree with your interpretation. The Four of Wands is generally a very positive card, especially for gatherings and reunions. The Queen of Cups upright is also a good card to draw in a reading for reconciliation. Putting them together, the cards portray a fortuitous meeting with someone who is in control of their emotions and stable in how they handle themselves.
Alternatively, you could read the cards to each represent one person involved - in this case, I feel the Four of Wands might represent you and your hopes for the meeting, while the Queen of Wands could represent the second party (your ex). In this way of looking at it, although there may be a history of tension between the two parties (a fire card and a water card are opposite elements), there is hope (both are upright and positive).
I’d suggest drawing a third card to make a trinity - let the final card tell you what the outcome of the reconciliation will be!
