Yesterday I was in a store that I don’t even know exists in America, called Tiger, where they sell a lot of things for little ones without actually being a toy store. They sell art, toys, oddities… And I found a children’s tarot deck. It’s in pastel colors, to catch the kids’ attention.
If I said I didn’t like it, I’d be hypocritical, because tarot came into my life through a teen magazine, and I’ll be grateful for that all my life, but I can’t help but think that Ouija also started as a game.
Of course, I bought that little deck! Hahaha
Honestly, I think it’s good that the taboo surrounding magic and fortune telling is being lifted, and that it’s starting to be seen as “normal” for there to be special people with beliefs that differ from the established ones.
If I ever become a mother, I’d like to give her/him this deck and show her/him this beautiful magical world.
First, I see nothing wrong with your English. It seems just fine to me
Second, I love this!!! If my daughter would let me introduce her kids to this amazing world I would definitely get all four of my grandkids a deck! I love that there is a deck out there made for kids. I introduced my kids to tarot when they were aged 7,8 and 10. The youngest has since passed to the other side 10 years ago and my oldest now believes my practice is evil because of a controlling husband. My middle is very curious about it but is afraid to practice because if her ex husband found out he could get sole custody of the kids. Yes sad, but has happened many times in the states. People can take away your children for practicing witch craft. But I ramble. Lol. I love the idea of the cards for kids.
I think with tarot or runes this is great, are there kids runes , I’m going to go on a hunt . For spirit boards, I think caution is needed so earthbound feeder spirits don’t get a freeride. For me I’d like to see spirit boards sold more as a spiritual tool, even for youngsters like you’d sell a bible or Edda, rather than a toy. I’m sure we’ll get there.
I think that’s pretty cool! I know there are tarot decks made specifically for children, and tarot as it is today started out as a card game anyway – that’s pretty awesome!
I’d be interested in seeing you do a layout, just to see the artwork on the kids’cards. This is interesting.
Mom bought me a children’s Bible for Christmas when I was 4. We were traveling across the Desert Southwest at the time. It was the first time I realized I didn’t believe in Santa Claus. I awoke and rushed to give my mother a hug, not even noticing presents at the foot of my bed. She had to point them out to me. Rambling.
Anyway, I support the idea of spiritual tools for kids. After all, I’ve heard that a person’s strongest spirituality happens between the ages of 7 and 12! (The Catholic church I grew up in said that is when the Soul attaches to the body, but I don’t follow that because I was connected much earlier, though 7-12 was my strong period.)
You had me curious, so I went searching online to see if I could find something about them. I found them online and they have a picture of some of the cards!
Absolutely. I think the strangle hold organized religion had is weakening slightly. People are more open minded.
I need to look for that deck.
Wow… you don’t have to worry. You are as good as any. I am aware of how hard it is - English is difficult - but you are doing fine. I wish I was as good in Spanish.
I absolutely love the idea of divination tools being available to the younger generation, it’s about time too; however, I really don’t like them being marketed as a toy. The pictures are of the categories on the Temu homepage, and the picture for Games and Novelty items are both tarot cards…they are not a novelty. I know they started out as a game, but I think there’s a difference between using cards for a game, and using them for divination. It will never happen, but I think they should be treated with the same reverence as a Bible and its equivalents. And now I’ll climb off of my high unicorn.
P.s. yes I did put the 8-bit tarot card set into my cart; see what I mean about Temu throwing things at me??
That is a very good question! I guess I always just assumed that they were talking about basic card games like Snap, Trumps, BlackJack, Poker…but I wonder if there was an actual tarot-specific game? I’m sensing a rabbit hole…
The games and packs which English-speakers call by the French name tarot are called tarocchi in the original Italian, Tarock in German and similar words in other languages.
