I was curious if the form of a particular stone influences how it works…I used to make jewelry and have many of the ‘crystals’ in bead form, and there are many stones that don’t actually form crystalline shapes, so does it make a difference…?

I can’t say that I’ve ever found any specific source of information about this topic. From personal experience, I have never had a difference in the way crystals felt for me based on their shape or texture. I have used towers and points to direct energy, but I find that you can do that with any shape of crystal. The tower or point just helps with the visualization and directing the energy where you want it to go.

There are indeed forms which are considered magickal, I learned about them when studying Crystal Reiki. I can’t share the material as it isn’t mine, but basically, the building blocks of sacred geometry are 5 forms called the Platonic Solids; in each form, the angles between the faces and the edges are the same size and the area of each face is the same size. Plato made these 5 forms from the 3 basic shapes (square, triangle and pentagon) using maths.
Tetrahedron (triangular pyramid) is associated with cosmic truth, stability and balance, as well as the element of fire, the colour yellow and the solar plexus chakra.
Hexahedron (cube) for grounding, releasing tension and refining focus, associated with Earth, red and the root chakra.
Octahedron is associated with the heart chakra, green and Air, and is thought to resonate at a frequency of nurturing and compassion.
Dodacahedron is associated with Divine Will and can assist in removing blocks to access our creative energy. Gold, Spirit, and chakras Throat, 3rd Eye and Crown.
Icosahedron is thought to aid access to higher levels of consciousness, element water, Sacral chakra and colour blue.
Some people like to get crystals in one form, some get one crystal in many forms, and some do both… it’s up to you! FYI, these forms are the same shapes you see with Dungeons and Dragons dice sets, which some of us use for Divination.
