Not entirely sure how I feel about that
This is the first I’ve ever heard of this definition of a twin flame. From what I know, the concept of Twin Flames was popularized by an author and spiritualist named Elizabeth Clare Prophet… the idea of twin flames has always given me the ick, so to speak, because of how toxic it can be with trauma, triggers, and the idea that the purpose is to heal each other.
I don’t know, it’s an interesting concept but not something I’ve ever felt comfortable with.
@MeganB funny you say that. Last time I saw my mom. She said everyone thinks twin flames are good, but they are not. They are really bad.i told her I respect her opinions as with anyone else.
Never heard of twin flames, can someone explain what this is in simple English please, Loki’s chaos has hit me early this morning and my brain is fried
@tracyS Sometimes called a mirror soul and sometimes described as yourself in another body. That’s as plain as I got and admittedly vague
Ok. I found these, they seem to contradict each other. 1 says twin flames is good, the other bad. I guess take it on a depends who the twin flames is, I guess.
Personally I disagree with 1, 2 and 3, as a whole
@Nixi That’s in the 10 signs? I find the whole idea a little imbalanced. I mean my twin flame, could you imagine the chaos that would be unleashed , my whole house would blow up and we’d both end up in an asylum
. Anyways, interesting stuff, learnt a new thing today. Thanks lovely
I only read 1-5, about to read the whole thing and honestly your desription is pretty close in general Imagine mine
@tracyS for some reason I only saw the second one at first. of 1-10, 4 is highly exaggerated, 7 seriously?, 9 widely believed but no.
I don’t think the concept itself is inherently bad, but the way it’s been twisted by some people is what makes it less desirable, in my opinion. It’s like the image that @tracyS posted, the second one, of why twin flames can be harmful. I have seen twin flame relationships move from 0 to 100 in a matter of weeks, not giving either person time to get to know one another. Once people are convinced that the other is their twin flame, it can be hard to get them to see any toxic behavior that might be taking place. If someone believes they’ve met their twin flame yet the other person is abusive in any way, they may believe it’s their responsibility to fix them which can lead to more abuse down the road, and a fear of leaving the relationship because of the pull that twin flames supposedly have on one another.
Twin flames also don’t fit my personal belief system, same as chakras. In Celtic mythology, this kind of concept just doesn’t exist
Thank you for expressing that outright. Sometimes we hear things often enough that we forget the sound bite is not universal.
@georgia – you’re welcome it’s important to hear all different kinds of perspectives. It helps remind us that our views aren’t the only views, but also that the popular view doesn’t need to be ours.
@Nixi How are you?
I feel this. I’ve started a mental spring cleaning as a result. The stuff that’s potentially harmful, in my opinion, is really easy to filter out. However, some of the more harmless stuff that doesn’t really mesh with me has slipped through because “what’s the harm in having more angles on similar concepts?” But there’s only so much chaos that my personal belief system can handle, I think. My brain needs some tidying up.
Oof I totally feel this maybe I’ll join you for some mental spring cleaning!
