I had a visitor, one day. He had his right foot bound in some form of thread. I was sitting inside, and he was on my balcony railing. I told him I’d like to be able to help him, but I thought he’d fly if I moved.

He was a darker bird with beautiful purple neck feathers.

The next time I was sitting in that spot at lunch time, he returned with his mate. All I said was hello, but I scared them away, despite food and water in bowls on my balcony.

She was a light gray bird.

I’ve been finding a white feather every once in a while. The tomato plant with its prickly stem holds feathers until I can retrieve them when I water the plant. I know they are white pigeon feathers, but I like to think of them as angel messages to build self esteem.

Pigeons are not common in my area. We have lots of doves but not pigeons. Just after I moved into my apartment in early spring there were a pair of pigeons in the tree just outside my bedroom window. They were beautiful and I enjoyed watching them for a couple weeks. All of a sudden they were gone and I haven’t seen them since. I took it as a sign that I was on the right path for my life and everything was going to be ok.
