Well done.
I’m still working on that

Change that to a Will get a copy! Thanks for the review!
I think this is also an important distinction to make. In my experience, the original caster is unknown to me – I just know that someone has directed something toward me that shouldn’t be there. So, the energy is sent back to the original person who cast the spell in the first place.
If this were the case, I would no longer classify this as a return-to-sender spell because the intention is more baneful than just bouncing energy back to the original person. In this instance, you would be targeting not just the original caster but everyone around them. This would be an issue for me because the other people, family as you mentioned, didn’t do anything wrong and don’t deserve to have the energy targeted at them. I feel like this kind of spell and the return-to-sender are unrelated.
But if all you’re doing is returning what doesn’t belong to you, are you the one causing harm? Or is the original caster just reaping what they sow? This may be a case of semantics at this point, but I can see your perspective here, too.
I think it all boils down to how a witch views energy systems and how they work.
Some feel that energy is a web around the earth with ley lines. The world is covered with a web of energy that connects everyone and everything, enabling us to send and receive information. The analogy would be a spider’s web. The spider knows when something lands on the web as the vibrations reverberate throughout the web.
So when a witch does a spell she/he influences the energy in one location, and sends shivers all over the web to eventually cause a change in the real world manifesting in the success of the spell.
So if a witch returns negative energy everyone on the web could feel it, depending on their sensitivity, just like the kids on the bus felt the negativity of the bullying or someone feels the negativity of a haunted place.
Another view would be why send the negative energy back and give your attacker more fuel.
The other thing to remember is that energy is neutral. It is the user that makes it positive or negative.
One thing I’ve recently learnt is that there are feeder entities that love this negative energy, and if you have received this energy, and don’t want to ping pong it back and forth, you can redirect it, either personally if you know of an entity (for me I think I would ask if Alu the night demon would like it
), or ask landspirits and the gods to do it for you.
I maybe off base here, but for me it would kind of take me out of the web.
I’ve never been sure on karma, I do and don’t believe it, depending on how it’s explained. But I do think we build up a consciousness that does hold us to account. Whether that’s played out in the here and now or next life, I’m not sure. When I had that Voodoo reading, she saw persecution in my ancestry, from possible witch trials here in England, and said that was playing out in my life in the form of anxiety and mis-trust, and I could break that karma, by breaking the anxiety. Not sure if I’ve explained it right. But DNA does play quite a role it would seem ![]()
I believe that is what Penczak meant when he said the responsible thing was to ground it and neutralize it.
Well we have come full circle. It was a great discussion everyone. Hope the lurkers enjoyed it too. ![]()
Let me see what else I can find to put a few waves in your cauldrons.

It’s been a great discussion! It’s absolutely a complicated topic that depends on the individual, the situation, your beliefs, and your practice so it’s not a one-size-fits-all. Discussions like this are great thought experiments that let me see from a different perspective and help me explore and define my beliefs and ethics.
this was fun! ![]()
This has been a fabulous conversation! I have enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. And just to throw my two cents in …
My thought has always been you hurt me or mine, I’m not sitting back and letting it happen. I’m giving it right back to you. Not to you and yours, just you. So I have no issue with return to sender. I’m not a believer in karma, and don’t believe in the law of three.
Just my two cents. Everyone has their own beliefs and I don’t judge anyone on how they believe or practice. I feel to each his/her own.
Blessings to all! ![]()

I agree!
This has really gotten my mental “gears” turning, so to speak. Thanks for bringing up the subject, @bj1 ![]()
