The Witches Wand

The wand, is just a stick… or is it?

The concept of magic wands dates back to ancient times, with evidence of wand-like objects being used in Egyptian, Greek and Roman cultures for various mystical and religious purposes. Sounds like religious and superstitious hype, to me. Hum m…

Well, according to some traditions, a wand must be created by the person who will use it and the process of crafting the wand is said to imbue it with a unique magic that reflects the user’s personality and abilities. Now, where have we heard that?

In some magical traditions, wands are used to direct energy and focus the intentions of the spell-caster. The wand is used to create a connection between the spell-caster and the magical energies they are trying to manipulate. I can understand that.

The wand is often seen as a symbol of authority and power in magical practice, representing the ability to command and control the forces of the universe. Sounds a bit ostentatious, doesn’t it?

The wand is also a common tool in stage magic and illusion, used to perform sleight of hand and other tricks that create the illusion of magic. That describes the tool of a charleton, or a children’s toy.

O.K. That takes care of the factual and the humorous aspect of what we now call a “wand” It (the wand ) is said to be a magical artifact of power…

I cannot and will not subscribe to that idea, But, I believe the holder of the wand can focus their power through it.

Let me throw out a scenario I use my ‘finger’ as a wand and it works.

Does that mean that my finger is magic. No, just my finger is just a finger.

Have I deminished the importance of this tool? No, that was not my intent.

My intent was to show that you hold the power, not the wand.

In my mind I bless every instrument on your altar, whether priceless

or shabby sheik it is important in your eyes and your practice. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Blessed be

I love this! While tools and ingredients can enhance or help direct spells, I’m 100% with you - the magick is in the witch.

Well said, Garnet!
