The wizard (or sorcerer) behind the curtain

I’ve been listening to Jason Miller’s audio books recently. I thought he really knew what he was talking about and I was paying attention. After reading this review, I’m questioning everything he says. It leaves me in a place where I don’t know who’s writings I can trust.

I’ve never read his books, although a few are on my wish list. I’ve never heard or dealt with his course either. But from the review, I would say read his books, take what you like from them, and just don’t stress about the rest.

I mean, it’s awful, but it could be that he’s no that good of a teacher when it’s with real people. He’s better with the written word and laying things out according to an outline. But when people jump ahead or sideways, he gets stressed and it comes out all wrong.

Or he could just be a jerk. You never know.

But as most J.K. Rowling fans have learned, you can enjoy the books and take what you want from the, while thinking the author is an idiot. LOL!

Hope this helps!

You have a good point, Amethyst. I have a tendency to throw the baby out with the bath water. It’s an all or nothing kind of mentality that doesn’t serve me very well. Moving forward I’m going to try harder to work on that attitude.

I’ve gotten used to it. I’ve been to a few conventions and met actors who are total buttholes, but I love the character. The guy who plays Chekov in the Original Trek? Needs to take a chill pill. I’ve seen him twice and he stormed out of the last convention.

And think of other artists. I was a Michael Jackson fan as a kid, and I still like his music but I didn’t care for the person he was before he died. Ellen was good on her talk show but was rumored to be a diva behind the scenes.

You can have one without the other. It just takes practice.

I’ve had the opportunity to be part of some of the live shows (pyro crew), I never met a superstar I liked. Like you said, take what is good and don’t worry about it.

George Takei was a sweetie. And so was a few others I’ve seen. They were either nice for real, or acting the whole time!

I don’t think the author has anything to do with the work. The person can be a complete idiot and have a good message. The same thing happened to me with Doreen Virtue, who, after years of making a living off witchcraft and selling books and oracles, now renounces all of that. What a disappointment…
I still use her decks and stuff, but she seems stupid to me.

From the review, the author sounds narcissistic. I wouldn’t join his coven or pay for his courses. But I may still read the books and take what information fits my practice and use it and ignore the rest. I’m like the reviewer in when someone says a good or goddess told me to share this information with you, I run fast and far. It also makes me think of cult behavior.

If you are enjoying the books then I would definitely keep reading them.
