Toxicity of burning herbs and Palo Santo

I have two cats and was told that burning certain herbs or spices was toxic to them and could cause physical harm…is there alternatives to using certain things when cleansing or casting spells???

I have three cats and I share your fears. I don’t burn incense or sage or anything indoors.

I usually either cleanse with intention, or with sound using my little bell to clear the negative energies.

I use this chant:

Spirits of light, pure and bright,
Cleanse this space, banish night.
Only love and peace remain,
All negativity be gone, no trace, no stain.
