Waning Moon Release

Here’s a Waning Moon Release Spell to help you let go of anything that no longer serves you. This ritual focuses on banishing negativity, breaking bad habits, or releasing emotional baggage.

Spell: The Unbinding Ritual

Purpose: To release negativity, bad habits, toxic relationships, or anything that holds you back.

What You’ll Need:

  • A black or white candle (black for banishing negativity, white for general cleansing)
  • A fireproof bowl or cauldron
  • A small piece of paper
  • A pen (black or red ink works best)
  • Sage, palo santo, or incense for cleansing
  • A small dish of salt (for protection)

Steps:

Prepare Your Space:

  • Cleanse your space with sage, palo santo, or incense.
  • Light your candle and set the intention of release.
  • Place the dish of salt nearby to absorb any lingering negativity.

Write It Down:

  • On the piece of paper, write what you want to release (e.g., “I release my fear of failure” or “I let go of this toxic relationship”).
  • As you write, visualize the situation, emotion, or habit leaving your body.

Empower the Spell:

  • Hold the paper in your hands and say: “With this waning moon, I now release, All that holds me, all that deceives. No longer bound, I set it free, By fire, by will, so mote it be!”
  • Feel the energy of release flowing into the paper.

Burn & Banish:

  • Carefully burn the paper in your fireproof bowl/cauldron.
  • As it turns to ash, visualize the energy dissolving, vanishing with the smoke.
  • Say: “It is done. I am free.”

Final Cleansing:

  • Sprinkle a little salt around your candle and over the ashes.
  • Snuff out the candle (do not blow it out).
  • Dispose of the ashes outside or down a drain with flowing water.

Aftercare:

  • Take a cleansing bath with salt or herbs (lavender, rosemary) to wash away residual energy.
  • Drink herbal tea (like chamomile or peppermint) to ground yourself.
  • :new_moon: Best Done: At night, during the Waning Moon phase.
  • :dizzy: Tip: If you feel emotional afterward, that’s normal—releasing old energy can be powerful!

If there’s more than one thing I want to release, should I write them on the same paper, or separate pieces of paper?

Also, ty for this!

I think either option would work. It’s probably easier to write them all on the same paper.

I personally rip up scrap paper and write one release per paper. They each get their own attention. But do what feels right to you
