Um… well, once again I have options… while I haven’t been regularly drawing a rune for the day… I could start again OR! & hear me out… I can explore Witches Runes! I have collected information about them & maybe I can look into those OR do something with my actual Runes that is different from a single pull… I could go on, but I think I can come up with something for this one! Oooo… how exciting! :star_struck:

I found a dragon rune alphabet! I would like to cast some runes, but since I’m new to them, maybe I should use a traditional runic alphabet to get the hang of things.

Yes, maybe a good idea only because I read this and the first thing, I thought of was, an episode on Charmed when the little boy, Chris was feeling some type of way, so he used Magick that he was too, young to use and he made his Dragon from TV come alive and terrorized their neighborhood.

I’ve never worked with Norse Runes (and if I’m being honest, I have no desire to ) so maybe I’ll explore Theban a bit this week. That still counts, right?

Since I started making runes to sell in my shop I have used runes quite a bit from using them in writing small chants (Elder Futhark) to making sigils with them. I have used my own set of Witch’s runes for spellcasting, which is to draw up the appropriate rune or in my case, look for the specific rune for manifesting and use the rune in my spell. I did write a small booklet for both the Elder and Witch’s that explains how to use them for other than divination. gleaned from various sources.

I have a rune app on my phone for both but the Witch’s rune app had too many ads

I will take a picture of my next rune adventure as soon as I get over the Halloween hangover. Blessed be!!

This should be an interesting challenge:blush:, I’ve felt like the Norse Gods/Goddess have been trying to get my attention for a while. this seems like a great opportunity to use my Runes cards and to explore the lessons above.

Weekly :fehu: Weekly Witchy CHALLENGE - All About Runes

So I chose to learn about solar rune and birthhour rune.

TIWAZ (Solar Rune) is justice

WUNJO (birthhour rune) is success

My intuition tells me what I seek I succeed in. I achieve victory and blessings
I hope to learn so much more about runes.

When I was learning about them for the posts I tried them for a while & felt good with them. As I progressed in my practice & learning, I don’t do a “personal” draw with them anymore.

I’m not drawn to them or the Norse, but my son very much is, so it was fun to learn about them & pass on the information to him.

I do a weekly draw with my stones though for what to have in my pouch that I carry each day.

I think I’m going to explore what I can about Witches Runes as a curiosity thing that just needed a nudge to actually do it

Weekly Witchy Challenge - All about Runes Entry

This is going to be exciting for me. I always said, because I do not have any artistic talent but, someday will become rich, I can draw stick people like a professional. This is what Runes reminds me of and looks like I just might be able to draw them. I am going to do the lesson from Spells 8 and try Pinterest for some information.
i
I also think I better just stay here to do the challenge and maybe next time I’ll do it in word…I’m a chicken.

Blessed Be to all

@lerena Great work on finding and studying your solar and birthhour runes- thank you for sharing them with us! Wishing you all the best as you continue to learn about runes- have fun with it! :books::blush:

@Medea Runes are indeed wonderfully simple- anyone is free to correct me if I’m wrong on this, but I believe runes have their simple and straight-lined form as they were primarily carved- on wood and stone. The straight lines are much easier to carve than curved lines- which is still a boon for us drawing them in modern times! :art: :grinning: Good luck with your rune studies, Medea- I’m excited to see what you will do! :two_hearts:

Weekly Witchy Challenge – all about runes.

I never did much with Runes, they reminded me of the evil witch in snow white, or a grizzled old woman throwing bones on the ground. Yep, kind of scary to me.
There were soooooo many Runes sets from all over the world that I was about to give up when…

Did you know that there’s an Egyptian Rune set?

    WWW. Etsy.com *(sold out)

  2. This one is made of creak stones
This one is amazing, it’s listed by Moon Goddess 12.99 BPS Gardenhttps://www.moongoddessgarden.com/ourshop/prod_2481080-Egyptian-Oracle-Runes.html
    See Below
3.(like #2)another one was listed on Etsy but is unavailable now.

  3. Another set, similar to the above is from the UK
my pocketbook tells me it’s too expensive.

I couldn’t find a cheat sheet to read them, but I thought someone might be interested. In the set. I’m Saving to buy the white ones when they become available again.

Thanks for giving me the poke I needed to look into something new.

I mean, you knew I’d love this challenge!!! And funny enough I ran across this article today The mysterious Viking runes found in a landlocked US state. I’m not too terribly far from me. I may have to plan a trip to see them!

I’m surprised that the Smithsonian declared in 1923 that the characters were Scandinavian. It would be interesting to find out if they have changed their mind about it since then. I’m clearly no expert but they look like runes to me. How they got there, I can’t say but speculating is fascinating. Thinking of the Vikings sailing on the Mississippi river is something that never occurred to me! If true, it must have been a sight to behold!

Are these Viking runes or aren’t they? "The inscriptions are not a Viking script, but a combination of [runic languages] Elder Futhark and Younger Futhark, which predates when the Vikings would have been traveling," Source - Dennis Peterson, archaeologist, and manager of the Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center
(photo and quotes come from the article linked about)

Quite the timely and enjoyable article to run across today!

I knew I picked up this little book when I was out and about a couple of weekends ago for a reason!

That then prompted me to go on a rune set hunt for something that I liked. I couldn’t find anything locally here in Perth so I started having a lookie loo on websites that I have bought some of my witchy supplies before.

And…… of course what do I pick…… a crystal set. (My name is Jess and I have a problem) They weren’t outrageously expensive and it’s a little Aussie small business in Queensland. So I bought them for my onesies. I chose the Amethyst set but they had a few in the Elder Futhark Viking Rune set to choose from including an Agate, Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz, Howlite and a mixed crystal set. If there is a crystal option in something guaranteed that’s the one for me lol!

I’m getting a little freaked out about how in sync these challenges have been with my current explorations and path. As I’ve begun working with Lady Hel (Hela), the Norse Queen of Helheim, I’ve begun reading runes with her rather than tarot. I’m excited to think of something for this challenge.
