I decided to focus on some much needed self care for this Challenge. I’m committing to 5 min of guiged meditation every day after I get my toddler down for naptime. So far I’ve downloaded 2 apps to check out and I’m creating a spotify play list. Some peace and quiet is definitely needed in my busy life :pensive:

True to my yogic and tantric path, inner peace to me is resting in the unchanging part of myself, the very core of my being which never changes even from one incarnation to another, which is consciousness. It’s always when we are attached to things being one way and then they turn out another, that we suffer. It doesn’t matter if the object we’re hanging on to is outside or inside of ourselves, and the whole distinction isn’t even that clear when you get deeper into it. All of us have our subjective realities that we live in after all, and the “everyday reality” we all can agree on can be surprisingly thin slice. Our bodies age and get sick and weak, our thoughts can be a mess, our memory can get worse and our emotions can be all over the place, so identifying with any of them doesn’t give us a stable and comfortable place. It’s only our consciousness that witnesses the life that’s living itself through us, that stays the same.

I had a beautiful tantra night yesterday, on the full moon night :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I got to experience different sensations with people, most of the people were unfamiliar to me. There was some discomfort at points, especially looking each other deep into the eyes, but less and less as the night progressed. It was so important not to hang on to that discomfort, keeping my heart open. When I got into a part where I could relax into the arms of people I had never met and close my eyes, while they were petting me and lovingly whispering my name, that was deep peace. When I could relax into a pile of four other bodies breathing together, losing the sense of where mine ended and theirs began, that was deep peace. When I have no reason to remember who I even am, and there’s no inner monologue going on, that’s when I’m the most relaxed and at rest. :silver_heart:

Okay, so, here is my challenge entry.

I am so glad this showed up and was extended. Peace is something I desperately need lately, and it has been in short supply for a while now, so it gave me the push I needed to remember and actively seek out the peace I need.

For me, my peace comes in the morning. I get up before everyone else in the house (with a husband, 4 teenagers, a dog and 6 cats, this house gets crazy busy!), and I usually have 2-3 hours before other people start getting up and needing me for things.

I used to smoke, and my peaceful time was every morning when I went outside to smoke, drink my coffee, and enjoy the nature and life of the woods we live in. However, since I quit smoking 2 years ago, I haven’t done this. Instead, I go to my computer and just jump into my day (not very peaceful). So, this week, I have made a point of getting outside and grounding myself to the earth and this place where I live (even though it is getting cold).

A short ways into our woods, there is a massive Ironwood tree. For reference, the average ironwood tree may reach 20- 30 ft tall and about 10" across its trunk. This one is probably 50 ft tall and about 18 inches across its trunk. This is MY tree. I have no explanation, but I feel drawn to and connected to this particular tree. So, I have made a point of going and sitting on the ground at the base of this tree and meditating for about 10-15 minutes (until I get too cold to sit on the ground any longer), grounding myself to the earth and connecting with this tree. This tree sends me wisdom, clarity, and an inner peace that I have never experienced before. It’s like the tree knows me, and it sends me the wisdom I am seeking, the clarity to see things as they are, and the inner peace I need to accept things as they are and know that everything is as it is meant to be.

I’ve been gone for the last few weeks (mentally) and I’m so happy this challenge was extended. I have worked 70 hours in 6 days and am exhausted mentally and physically. I haven’t even returned peoples phone calls. It’s 2 am, so I could return the calls now. Lol! Anyway, before I knew the peace challenge was extended, I needed to bring myself some peace. I disassembled my Morrigan altar (I need some light instead of dark) and assembled my Aphrodite altar. What better place to worship Aphrodite then an antique vanity, right? I had made a trip to Goodwill a few weeks ago and saw a beautiful vintage jewelry box. It’s solid wood and has large drawers. I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but it called to me. It has been in the trunk of my car for two weeks. When I started the altar, I remembered it and it’s perfect for my Aphrodite altar. So, here’s to self care, self love, and peace. :clinking_glasses:

I wanted to add something. My son is in the military and 4 years ago he was stationed in Germany. On the weekends he would hop on a train and explore other places and buy me little souvenirs. When he went to Greece he bought me a little notebook. I didn’t know what I was going to use it for. I came across it a few weeks ago and put it on an open shelf (still not knowing what I would use it for). A few hours after I made my Aphrodite altar, I was moving things on a shelf and the book fell off onto the floor. I now have the perfect idea for the book. I will write my prayers to Aphrodite in it. The Universe works in mysterious ways!

I’ll have to catch this on catch up. Loki’s chaos is not peaceful at the moment, but I’m not complaining, I’ve missed him.:rofl::partying_face:

I really like the beach themed candle holder! It would be cool to find or make something similar for each of the elements.

Years ago I used to sell Avon. This came with lavender( for the inside of the jar) and a tea light. It has a cork at the bottom of it. I think it looks nice with the sand and sea shells! :shell: :ocean:

You gave me an idea. Dollar Tree has the empty Christmas balls out right now. It would be cool to make them for each of the elements! :earth_element: :air_element: :water_element: :fire_element:
