What, who is Selqet

The name Selqet keeps appearing to me. I can’t find a lot on it that makes sense. Does anyone have any insight as to why this name keeps speaking to me? Thank you

She is the goddess of protection and healing. Perhaps she is reaching out to you. I would do a meditation and try and reach out to her. If you are in need of protection or have healing that needs to be done she could be reaching out to help you.

While I’m not finding a Selqet there is the Egyptian goddess Serket.

I also ran a search and got the same as Artemisia - perhaps it is an alternate spelling of Serket? It looks like Her name is written in various ways, all with a similar verbal pronunciation. This is common for words translated from other languages - especially ancient dialects.

Serqet (Serket, Selket,Selqet, Selkit, Selkis) was a ancient Egyptian scorpion goddess. She was generally viewed as a protective goddess, but also had a darker side.

From Ancient Egypt Online: Serqet

I’d recommend looking into Her and see if anything resonates!

Alternatively, you could try the Who’s There Deity Tarot Spread to get more information and see if someone is reaching out to you.

Good luck and blessed be! :sparkles:

Selqet (also known as Serket) is an Egyptian Goddess of protection, healing and magic. Her name means she who causes the throat to breathe, linking to her ability to heal and cure.

You will see her shown as a woman with a scorpion on her head or sometimes as a full scorpion. This depiction serves two purposes: scorpions were seen as both dangerous and protective.

Serket provided protection to the people against venomous animals such as snakes and scorpions while also associated with the healing of bites associated with these animals. She ruled over these creatures and held the secrets of their venoms and antidotes.

She, along with Isis, Nephthys and Neith, was also said to provide a person with protection as they navigated their way through the Duat (underworld) on their way to the afterlife. The pyrmaid texts staes that my mother is Isis, my nurse is Nephthys, Neith is behind me and Serket is before me.

This was an important role for her because the soul encountered many dangerous crestures, including snakes and scorpions, on this journey. In ancient Egypt, scorpion venom was beleived to have curing or magical powers. Therefore, Serket was a symbol of both the threat and thd cure. Her link to the dead was also due to the high number of deaths from venomous bites.

Her link to the afterlife comes from her role in the story of Isis and Osiris. After Osiris was killed by his brother Set, Isis sesrched the land for the parts of his body (Set cut him up). During this journey, was protected by Serket. After the birth of Horus, Serket sent 7 scorpions to proctect him and his mother (Isis). On their travels, a woman refuses to help Isis and so Serket orders a scorpion to sting and kill her. This shows her dangerous side. As time passed, Serket became more and more associated with Isis until she was eventually considered an aspect of Isis.

I have an oracle card for Serket from a deck I made so i have included the advice aswell:

Serket asks you to be aware of your surroundings, what is happening around you and the energies that you are exposing yourself to and perhaps even absorbing. Recognise when you feel drained or overwhelmed and ask yourself what you can do to reduce or overcome these feelings. Cleanse your space and yourself. Also connect with family, friends or mentors who uplift you. Plan a mate date or a catchup.

Serket encourages you to also deepen your spiritual practices and embrace healing. Reflect on your current spiritual path and identify areas where you seek clarity or healing. Try to aim for 10-15 minutes meditation each day, focusing on your breath and try to visualise a protective light surrounding you. This might be a good time to go for some reiki or crystal healing. Try to spend time outdoors, allowing nature to rejuvenate and reenergise your spirit. Consider a mindful walk where you focus on the sounds, sights, and smells all around you.

Serket’s appearance may also point to a sense of financial stability and conscious money management. Reflect on your spending habits and align them with your core values. Take time to review your budget and dentify areas where you can cut unnecessary expenses. Also embrace opportunities for growth and transformation at work. Be open to feedback and view challenges as learning opportunities. Identify a skill you want to develop and consider how you can take this forward e.g. through reading, classes or online courses.

Focus on healing and nurturing your connections and relationships with others. Approach any conflicts with empathy and a willingness to listen. Plan a special date or activity with your partner or close friend to show you care for them. Consider teying something new together to foster a deeper connection. If there are past grievances that might be best let go, consider a forgiveness ritual. Write a letter expressing your feelings (even if you don’t send it) to release emotional burdens.

Prioritise both physical and mental health this week. Be proactive in your health management, listening to your body’s signals. A detox may be on the card to rid it of “poisons”. This could be a physical detox through juices, fruit, veg and fibre or a mental detox through journalling worries and thoughts or even reducing time on devices. Also build in mindfulness practices to your day, such as mindful eating, colouring or short breathing exercises when feeling stressed.

There is the promise of transformation and empowerment. Set clear intentions for your goals and visualise your desired outcomes. Heal yourself internally and externally and seek protection from Serket as you strive to renew and transform yourself.

Affirmation:

“I embrace change as a path to growth, guided by Serket’s protective spirit, trusting in my ability to adapt and thrive"

@Cosmic_Curiosity wow! Much appreciated! I meditated and recalled being deeply connected to her over 20 years ago! Not sure why I blocked her out! Thank you so much for the information.
