Which Deity or Spirits associated with spiders?

I am a follower of Hekate and Lilith, but lately have felt like someone else is trying to connect with me. I have tried to read more about the signs I have been seeing, but I’m not sure if I’m seeing everything correctly. I tend to think my first guess is correct and overlook other obvious things!

I am not scared of much, but spiders are definitely my #1 fear! I have had so many spiders in my house lately! Big ones, little ones. I know that it is typical for spiders to come inside, but I’m talking more than normal!

I also have been having a sensation of someone touching me. It is always on either my right shoulder or the base of the back of my neck.

Maybe I’m reading too much into these and they aren’t really signs. I’m not sure. Any insight would be appreciated!

The first and most obvious is Arachne and Athena from Greek mythology.

Spider Woman from the Native American mythology.

There’s Anansi from the West African region.

And then there’s Loki, who I don’t think is a spider god, but his name means close to the words for knots and tangles, or webs. Plus, I figure, being a trickster god, he gets a laugh every time one of us mortals gets a jump scare from a spider or when we’re accidentally walking through one of their webs. You might want to ask @tracyS more about that, though.

Those are the only ones I can think of, off the top of my head. Hope this helps you!

Hmm that’s interesting! Thank you! I never thought about Loki, but it’s hilarious that you say that because one of the spiders scared me so bad that I peed my pants and my husband said it was pranking me. Maybe it is Loki!!

Could be! @tracyS is our Loki expert, so she’d know. He just seems like the kind to put a spider down a girl’s dress to show them he’s got a crush on them, you know? LOL!

I may have been reading too many MCU fics, where he turns into a spider or snake and scares Thor.

And then stabs him.

Good times. LOL!

Thanks for tagging me @Amethyst :green_heart:

@tory Loki  could be. I’m thinking why though. It could be linked with where you are in life. Loki is a chaos god, I’d say the chaos god but then I’m biased . If you’re going through lots of changes and it’s causing chaos, he may have popped in to help you through the chaos energy. Spiders are not his official sign, but he will go to extremes to get your attention so you start thinking about him and he has used spiders on me and on others I know. Since when is the god of chaos going to follow any rules or traditions anyway when it comes to signs, he’s a snake sign traditionally, but I like snakes so it wouldn’t get my attention, spiders would and when he used them on me I had nests of them!!! I hate them too and he knows it.

Loki will tell you it’s him if you ask. He’s not shy. Shake a bag of runes, ask if Loki wants to help you then pull some runes. If you get :kaunan: :haglaz: and/or :berkanan: within 9 tries of pulling runes, it’s him. (9 is the Sacred number of the Norse).

He’s fun, mischievous and has a love of life. He does also love humans even if it’s to sometimes laugh at us. If he does want to work with you, get ready for more chaos cuz that’s all he knows :person_shrugging: but also he can help you to see humour and laugh through hard times, he’s good at lightening up a heavy time in life. I love him. Let me know if you want any help.

Neith is the Egyptian Goddess of weaving, wisdom and warfare. When Osiris was murdered by his brother, set, his wife Isis asked Neith to weave a shroud for his body. She was unable to do this on her own and so created the first spider to help her with the task. The spider then became associated with the goddess due to its ability to spin webs.
