Hey all my Wiccan friends. I have a niece that practices Wicca and she is a very new baby witch. She needs advice on weather spells and how weather affects her magick. I’m not real familiar with Wicca and not sure what to tell her. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Gwynn ap Nudd is a great weather deity to work with. He’s been pretty lonely, lately, so I thought I’d offer a plug for him.
Ask if she’s more interested in the firy energy of lightening, the ground- rumbling power of thunder, the rain, or the wind/smell of water and/or earth in the air. It may encourage a connection with her. All elements exist in storms though the subject is harbored under the element of air. Scott Cunningham had some nice spells working with fog, but I can’t remember which book offhand at the moment.
We Air Witches are rare. Support communication and creativity so she feels supported at this time in her life.
I always support her 100%. She’s my only niece and the only other witch in the family (that will admit it). She’s an amazing girl and I’m so proud of her for pursuing her dream.
I think she is interested in all of it. She is like me and just loves storms.
It wasn’t strictly Wiccan, but there was a weather magick challenge a while back where the coven shared their weather spells and magick tips. There might be some things in there worth a read!
She is very very new to the practice. She was mainly wondering if there is any specific spells for storms or if weather affected her spells in any way.
Weather magic isn’t something I’ve really dabbled in besides the occasional prayer for rain. If I’m not mistaken, there are at least a handful of books available that talk about weather magic. I haven’t read any of them, though, so I can’t speak to how good they are. Actually, I only found one when I searched on Amazon
This one is on my wishlist because it’s interesting but it’s also written by a physicist!
As for weather affecting spells, I haven’t heard of anything bad happening because of weather. If anything, some witches prefer to cast spells and perform rituals during storms because of the added energy.
