Well, from what you’ve described here and knowing how talented you are, I can’t wait to see this! But do take care - I hope the steroids help. They may or may not be adding to your enthusiasm.

Have a safe trip to Virginia and fun at the wedding!

Hahaha I admit I’m being cagey about what I’m doing until I know that it’s going to work. Heading outside now to if I can get part 1 of the project! :evergreen_tree:

Well… I don’t know if it’s holiday crafting per say, but I am crafting and creating during the holiday season!

I’m working on my vision board for 2026; I’m creating a guidebook for an oracle deck I bought from Temu that didn’t have the book! I’m also crafting my own fairy oracle deck with a couple of my fairy friends! I will share it with everyone once It’s complete!

And I’m still tiptoeing toward shadow work. I’m a big weenier but I’m getting there! Who wants to be my emotional support buddy? Anyone lol?

I made this a few years ago, but I thought it appropriate for this occasion. I made a yule log. Although I made it for our winter solstice here in thesouthernhemisphere, it fits for the northern hemisphere yule christmas. I must say it turned out very well.
All photographs are my own.

Can I ask a question?
Is it appropriate to do a challenge post on elf on the shelf, as I have been doing this daily since the 1st december with my two residents elves , Eric and Ernie whom I call E1 & E2. I do this in conjunction with our advent calendar daily beer and wine. It is quite challenging coming up with something interesting and different each day. I then post this on my facebook page called Granny’s Famhouse. It is a public page.If anyone is interested in looking at it. I also post a lot of cooking and recipes that I make :face_savoring_food:

Thank you. I used a mix of vanilla and chocolate jam rolls and fed it to the boys at work for smoko. :face_savoring_food:

Thank you. I made that a few years ago. I’m tempted to try it again.

Absolutely! Feel free to share about Eric and Ernie. It sounds like your resident elves get up to some fun holiday adventures on the daily!

And such a beautiful Yule Log - that’s a work of art! :sparkles:

Beautiful job, @julie8 ! Not only did you piece this together perfectly, but your presentation is spot on. I love the details like the little bits of white fungi, and the cinnamon sticks.

Fabulous work. Makes me smile just to look at it! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

As I had mentioned, I made this pentacle out of a grapevine wreath and twigs from our Vitex tree

Through fall and Samhain I had some artificial fall leaves and nuts attached to it in a little bunch.

Now I’ve done the same with winter greenery and pine cones, plus a little broom. It’s wired together and then wired on to the wreath so I can change it out for the seasons.

I also made a smaller pentagram which is now hanging on our tree.

These are soooo beautiful, Jayne! I love the simple little one hanging on the tree, and the larger, ornamental one on your grapevine wreath is perfect!

How clever of you to wire it in such a way that it’s easy to change it out for the seasons. Applause!

Some of Eric & Ernie’s escapades to date.

Great idea. I may add mine to a wreath form later, and change out the foliage for the season too.

Challenge Entry - Part 1: Holiday Crafting

I made some items yesterday but they need troubleshooting. This set isn’t perfect, but these test pieces show me that my idea will work. I’ll take time after our trip to make my final set next week since I’ll be traveling the next 3 days.

I decided to make a Winter Tree Divination Rune set of sorts. Originally, they were going to be based on my bioregional ogham, but I realized that 1) I had trees I wanted to add that weren’t in my ogham, and 2) craving the ogham symbol wasn’t going to work. The first idea was to have an impression of the tree’s bark on one side, and on the other sid,e a hand-drawn winter profile of the tree and the ogham symbol.

I’ve been trying different colors of clay, different washes of paint, and different techniques to carve the trees and fine-tuning it on the way.

These are the test pieces that I finished today

Close-up of the winter tree profiles of Easter Red Cedar, Sweet Gum, Loblolly Pine, Black Cherry

Here are the backs - American Beech, Black Cherry, Eastern Red Cedar, American Sycamore

I’ll keep working on the divination guide while I’m away but :tada: this looks like it will work out!

This looks amazing so far! I love both sides of these clay pieces - the textures of the bark impressions are gorgeous.
