One week to go!

Well, astrology and I have never really seen eye to eye. As far as I have been able to tell, it has only served to reinforce the feeling that I was born in the wrong time and space. Every astrology report I have ever seen based on my date, time and location of birth have been wildly off base, and astrocartography only shows that, ideally, I should have been a mermaid, because almost every line runs straight through the oceans.
On top of that, different websites and different charts say different things. For example, 2 websites put me as being born under the full Cold Moon that occurred on December 25th, 1977, but two others list me as being born under the waning gibbous moon that occurred following the full moon. From what I can see, I was basically born directly between them.
I have had my star chart reading done several times, and they all feel way off base, other than the obvious statement that my sun sign is Capricorn and my moon sign is Leo, which also just feels wrong somehow. The only thing that aligns with that information is that I am definitely well-grounded and hard-working. However, I absolutely hate the spotlight and attention, I hate being put in positions of leadership (although, I guess I must be good at it, or it wouldn’t keep happening), and I am completely introverted and am completely exhausted by other people. I do love nature, but I love water more.
So, I will come up with something for this challenge, I’m just not really sure what I will do yet. Maybe I will figure out when I should have been born, or create a spell or something to help me to align with with my star charts. Right now, I just don’t know yet!
I kinda think you just did!
Your post is very thoughtful, honest and intuitive. ![]()
I was going to say the same thing! Definitely Challenge Entry-worthy!
Joining late, but excited all the same. I’m in the ‘feels lost in it’ camp despite peripheral exposure to astrology my entire life. Working through the first course, but ready to dive in deep.
Hello @kir and merry meet! It´s nice to see you join in on the challenge! As you can see, there is much freedom in how you want to go about it. I´m not an astrologer, so I created a painting showing my sun, moon and rising sign. There´s many ways in which you can participate.
Btw, my name is Katharina. I´m an art-witch and art therapist from Vienna, Austria! I´m practicing magick very much through art making! I love altar craft, candle making, poppet work, spell boxes and jars. Working in my Book of Shadows is a big part of my pratice. I love all things tarot and practice this art since many moons.
The forum is huge and it takes time to get to know everything. The people here are very sweet and helpful, so just make yourself known if there´s any questions, someone will certainly show up to help you.
Brightest blessings! ![]()
Welcome, @kir! I’m Amethyst! Nice to meet you!
I hear ya on the being lost about astrology. Too much math. LOL!
Welcome @kir . I’m glad you have joined us. I’m Jayne, originally from England, but now living in Texas. My practice leans toward earth and nature magic, which is why I selected Greenbriar as my witch name.
Feel free to join in any conversation that interests you, and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
You’re very welcome to join in the Witch Challenge in whatever way you would like to.
Welcome, @kir and Merry Meet! We’re glad you’re here and interested in this Challenge.

Welcome @kir!
Challenge Entry: Part 2
Today was the day to go spend some time working wth the Sycamore tree near my house. Turned out I hadn’t thought through the whole plan, as to how I was to get to the tree, which was on the other side of a fence and stream.
I just assumed I could park in the lot behind it and hike my way to it. It wasn’t quite that easy.
I slide very carefully down into the holler and worked my way across rocks in one stream and over logs in another.
It took me 20 minutes to find the tree from the “back,” but I did find her!
I spent some time meditating at her base, then asked permission to collect a few of her leaves to take back with me.
I had brought a drawing pad and some crayons, then took some time until we decided what color to use for the bark rubbing.
After an hour of climbing, walking, and sitting, I found an easier way back out to the car. Enjoying the fun little bits of nature around.
Once home, I spent some time with my American Beech in the back yard, and we picked a color for the bark rubbing.
CHALLENGE ENTRY - Sun, Moon & Stars
-
Sun sign: Capricorn
-
Moon sign: Sagittarius
-
Rising sign: Ascendant in Capricorn (Capricorn rising)
I don’t pay a lot of attention to my signs. Like most people, I’m aware of my Sun sign, first and foremost, and I have enough knowledge of it - Capricorn, the Goat - to be able to pick off the characteristics assigned to it. Some of them I recognize and believe them to be true - I freely admit to being practical, pragmatic, disciplined…zzzzz…oh! Excuse me, they all sound so boring I find it irritating that they’re part of me.
“Ambitious” is another characteristic assigned to the Capricorn personality - this, I know, does NOT fit me. It takes too much energy to apply ambition into one’s personal life, and frankly, I’d rather read, cook something, or be out in the garden.
A more accurate word might be motivated - I can become motivated to explore many things. I find that completely different than ambition, which can be blind, ruthless, or just plain misguided. That ain’t me.
When exploring ideas for this Challenge, I looked over some of the links provided. One was a poll that asked: “Which Zodiac signs like (or don’t like) Astrology?” I was not surprised to see that only 5% of us Capricorns here on the forum like it. But then, isn’t it the very nature of the stubborn goat to wave away such a non-practical, non-pragmatic thing? You gotta laugh.
To flounce my pragmatism I decided to do something artistic for this Challenge.
First, I made an image transfer of the Zodiac wheel using transparent Contact paper. Then I used a stencil to get a pattern of stars across a 4" square wooden panel.
Next, I painted the panel with a purple background and swirled in a center Moon.
Then I placed the transparent image transfer over the Moon.
Nothing fancy, and this was quick and easy to do! I like having it as a symbol of my appreciation of the things that Astrology does get right.
I am always at peace when I can sit and watch the Moon and stars start popping out, especially in the summer when the fireflies show up at dusk in the summer. I have a picture of the Universe for a screen saver on my laptop. I find it very peaceful, like I’m viewing a pasture or someplace that feels like home. I love to learn about the Earth’s energies, and follow the phases of the Moon - it seems a natural extension of my Pagan path.
Wow, this was quite an adventure!! I think you should receive an extra award for the effort. ![]()
The pictures are so so beautiful, I feel like I haven´t seen a blue sky since last October.
Every day is cloudy and grey.
I see you´re using Golden Acrylics; these are only THE BEST acrylic paints on the planets in my opinion, unfortunately they will cost me an arm and a leg here in Austria. ![]()
And what a nice piece of art you created!
Very pretty!!
Thank you!
Yes, I try to look out for sales on Golden acrylics, pricey but so nice. The purple is Winsor-Newton, another sale price, no doubt. ![]()
Oh my sun, moon, and stars - where have the past two weeks gone? Today is the last day to enter this astrology challenge! A big thank you to everyone who has shared their out-of-this-world magick so far

Witch Challenge for Amethyst:
Y’all, this was weird. I am not good at astrology. And my muses have been on a winter vacation to Jamaica or something. So after some hunting for what I wanted to do, I finally came across an Aquarius Tarot Spread that looked interesting! I came from here:
The Best Spells And Rituals To Perform During Aquarius Season
The questions are:
Card 1: Where in my life am I dimming my light?
Card 2: What unique part of me am I rejecting and hiding?
Card 3: How can I fully embrace this part of me?
Card 4: What’s waiting for me when I express the truth of who I am?
Card 5: How can I act more deeply in alignment with my values?
And this is what I figured out:
Card 1: Where in my life am I dimming my light?
The King of Pentacles, reversed. I’m not standing strong.
Card 2: What unique part of me am I rejecting and hiding?
My sovereignty. I have just as much right to an opinion as anyone else.
Card 3: How can I fully embrace this part of me?
By acting instead of staying passive.
Card 4: What’s waiting for me when I express the truth of who I am?
The end of self-deceit. Being true to myself and honest.
Card 5: How can I act more deeply in alignment with my values?
Major choices. Choose to stand up for what I believe in.
So that’s it! This Aquarius season, I need to learn how to stand up for what I believe in. I admit, there are a couple of people with whom I disagree, but I don’t protest enough to. Their minds are pretty much made up, and I figured it wasn’t worth losing a friend over them being weird. But it’s time for me to step up! Which, of course, is easier said than done. We’ll see how I do with it.
Great job to everyone who shared an entry! A Props and Presents post will soon appear with shout-outs and prize details for everyone who submitted. Please keep an eye on the main page of the forum.
Thanks again for joining in the challenge! ![]()
