I have used Zener cards while in my BS in Psychology. It was for an assignment for one of the classes. Great fun!!!

Same principle applies using other cards, right?

What about the claims of opening crown chakra & third eye to have a greater success reading the cards?

@basil I was in a class that one of the assignment topics was parapsychology which I am very interested in. So I chose to learn all I could about how to go about testing for psychic ability using the scientific method and designed my own research study based on that. It was a very interesting topic.
As to the other questions, I work on my third eye to open the intuitive, and ask my spirit guide for help as well. My husband is now a level 2 Reiki healer and showed me a technique that they use to help listen to your spirit guide effectively. Put your feet on the floor, take 3 deep slow breaths, either you or someone else ask a question and the first thought that comes to your mind (or feeling) is your spirit guide answering you. The second thought would be your ego trying to over-ride the spirit guide and the third would be coming from your own bias. It was a fun exercise because we have several spirits here that have tried to talk to me. One just recently literally popped out from around the corner and scared the shit out of me on Monday night while I was sitting and talking with my husband about some things we need to do this summer.
I hope this helps answer your questions. I do have resources on YT for third eye chakra meditation that has been a big help for me. I listen while I sleep so I can reprogram my brain for a longer period.

I have an app on my phone that I practice with the zenner cards. Ive known about them for decades (thanks Ghostbusters 
) it also has a colour intuition test and another.
I don’t practice enough but I will and should and do have a good track record.
