I was bored and wanted to take my kids mind off of the horrible situation that happened at the high school yesterday. So, we gathered some soft leaves and made this bad boy. And another but it’s in my son’s room with an electric candle.
The light will always protect us even in the worst of times!!!
That’s beautiful @christina4 did you just decopage them?
Did I what? Lol I just used a stronger glue than Elmer’s. It is sticky!! My daughter did about five leaves and said I’m done!!
Hahaha! I did the same thing the first time I heard that word.
It looks beautiful! If you add a finish/lacquer to it, then you can officially say that it has been made by decoupage. Think Mod Podge or spray sealer. Otherwise, I think it looks great the way it is & that is a fantastic idea for this time of year. The leaves here have started turning & not so much falling yet, but they will!
Very pretty! And seasonal too!
@Siofra_Strega got you covered on the definition of decopage. Sorry I forgot that not everyone speaks artist. It’s beautiful though
I only know what it is because I redid the top of my coffee table with Cricut images & then was going to add to it & seal it. Through figuring out what I wanted to do, I found out what I was trying to do is Decoupage.
I figured it out when I started making trinket boxes and cigar boxes for my studio. I actually have 2 trinket boxes on my altar (1 for candles and then one for smallish sized spells that are incubating or are supposed to stay out of sight) and I’m currently working on a cigar box which holds all the pocket sized composition books I use to record client tarot readings, sigils, pendulum readings, my spell journal and my tarot spreads and notes). I usually cut a picture that I colored and then decoupage it onto the box after either painting or staining it.
Oh, that’s awesome! My kind of girl. I like to make things too. I scrapbook, make apparel, use resin, knit, crochet, cross-stitch, paint, color… all kinds of things! So I have a little knowledge about what things are called in the crafting/art world.
I have made Witch’s Bells, Kitchen Spoons, Brigid’s Cross is 1 of my favorite things to make, I just like making things & reusing what I have on hand if I can.
Me too. My ex used to call me a “trash to treasure” artist because I’m notorious for picking up items people set on the curb or dumpster diving and I save all kinds of containers, saw blades, you name it and then repurpose it. I paint, color, crochet (a craft I’m still very new at), I do woodworking jewelry making all kinds of things. I used to have a spare room in my old house that I used as an art studio and I quit doing art pretty much since I came home and got clean but I’m about to start working on some stuff again so I can merge the art studio with my witchy shop and relaunch it as one hopefully this spring
Oh, yup jewelry, I’m actually supposed to re-do a necklace that my daughter made over the summer but the jump ring came out of the shell so I have to find a better way to attach it. The shell is kind of small though, so it’s more fragile.
Incorporating art into your practice & shop is a great idea. Make your talents work for you!
Oh yeah mod podge. That’s the idea thanks for the definition
Haha nope I definitely don’t
Aww so nice and so cute your kids helped…
Yes, I can not get them away from their screen time too often but they only have a certain amount of time.
Mod Podge is great for decoupage… just remember… thin layer… Lol
I did the same thing with my boys. I couldn’t remove them from the games once they were playing unless I made it point to get the attention from them, but I think a lot of that was because they had a limited time to play that they wanted to maximize that time.
I make sure they play after homework and not when it’s meal time otherwise, they have an hour or two. And after chores!!!
Sounds like our house. They hated us at times
I love to just say it mod podge I’m a dork
