We have officially entered the next seasonal transition, enjoying the first New Moon after the equinox. We will also be graced with a partial Solar Eclipse! Though only a small amount of people will witness a 90% eclipse, the energies can still be felt across the world.
A lot of people here where I live were duped by āFalse Springā recently. We had beautiful weather in the mid-50Ā°F range last week and then 
BAM ā Mother Nature decided to give us 7 inches of snow this week! The crazy part is that we will be getting MORE SNOW this weekend! We all thought Spring was here but we were all wrong!

Astronomically speaking, a New Moon is the period of time when the moon is at 0% illumination. The Moon and Sun are on opposite sides of the Earth. This causes Earthās shadow to fully cover the Moon leaving the night sky in darkness.
There are several different beliefs regarding the New Moon and witchcraft. Some witches believe this is the time to start new projects. Others believe it is a time of rest and recovery where no magic should be done.

With Aries in a New Moon, now is a great time for anything related to beginnings! Why? Because this is a New Moon in the very first sign of the zodiac. Anything you need to start would benefit from starting now. Be sure not to draw on the impulsive aspect of Aries, nor forget that we are still in Mercury Retrograde! Instead, be sure to plan your projects thoroughly! With Aries being a fire sign, any projects you start will have a great fire underneath them!
New Moon Solar Eclipse 
Just like this time last year, we will have a Solar Eclipse in the sign of Aries! However, this Solar Eclipse is only partial and will only be visible to a limited number of people around the world. In many spiritual practices, a Solar Eclipse is symbolic powerful transformation, endings, and new beginnings. It is often seen as a time to reveal hidden truths and create powerful shifts in personal or community goals. For those who choose to cast during an eclipse, itās a potent time for shadow work, releasing the past, and setting intentions aligned with deeper change.
Within witchcraft, there is no right or wrong way to practice during an eclipse. Some people believe you should never work magic during an eclipse while others find it an auspicious time to get the energies flowing. Whatever choice you make, know that the decision is all yours!

New Moon Manifestations
The eclipse comes at an interesting time with this New Moon in Aries. We might find ourselves feeling more stable in our positions, looking to expand outward and embrace our confidence. Take advantage of this energy during the New Moon and Solar Eclipse with some manifestations! You can cast spells, practice scripting, or enjoy a meditation to help you plant the metaphorical seeds to grow in the darkness of the New Moon and the shadow of the Eclipse.
Grounding Rituals and Protections
Many people feel off-balance, chaotic, and vulnerable during an eclipse. If this is you, consider casting some protective workings or ground yourself with the stable energy of the Earth. You can create spell pouches, wards, and sigils to help keep you protected. You may also find it helpful to sit with your skin touching the Earth for a better connection and easier time grounding your energy.
Remember, the energy of the New Moon isnāt just for the one day that it reaches its peak. Personally, I give myself a three-day window for the New Moon: the day before, the day of, and the day after. This works well for my practice and it may work for yours, too!
