Hello everyone,
The second astrological season of the year is upon us (already!), meaning a new wave of energy is ready to wash over us, influencing our daily activities, temperament and even our physical bodies. Let’s have a look at how Taurus season might unfold.
Please remember that the information below is for educational and entertainment purposes only and should not be used for self diagnosis, treatment or to replace the advice of a medical professional.
Qualities of the Signs
To give some perspective, medical astrology derived from the thinking of the Greek physicians Hippocrates and Galen. They used the following qualities to describe the elements:
Hot quality indicates high energy, activity or expansion. Heat activates, expands, disperses and circulates. It stimulates body functions but too much results in inflammation or fever.
Cold quality indicates low levels of energy or activity. Cold slows down, sedates, contracts, congeals and obstructs. Cold preserves and stabilises but too much results in numbness or sluggishness.
Dry quality indicates low levels or an absence of moisture. Dry also suggests solid, separate, objective and discrete qualities, as well as brittleness and rigidity. Too much dryness brings a dry temperament, thinness or dry, cracked skin.
Wet (moist) quality indicates a high level or abundance of moisture. Wet also suggests fluidic, coherent, subjective and soft qualities. Too much wetness might mean excess mucus or sluggishness, while the right amount promotes adaptability and nourishment.
Each of the 4 elements (fire, earth, air and water) and their associated zodiac signs are allocated two of these qualities:
Fire (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) is Hot and Dry.
Earth (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) is Cold and Dry
Air (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) is Hot and Wet
Water (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) is Cold and Wet
Taurus Season
Taurus season is now underway and the sign of the bull is the second sign of the zodiac. It is an Earth sign, meaning it has the cold and dry qualities. Taurus season, therefore, brings slow, stable and grounded energy after the speed race that was Aries season. This season may bring a slowing down of activity, encouraging you to rest and establish a sense of stability through set routines. People may be more resistant to change or to accepting your ideas (and you may feel the same about others’ ideas) but you may feel more able to endure and persevere with things that are challenging or take a long time.
Taurus rules the neck, throat (including the tonsils), vocal cords and thyroid. There is a tendency towards dryness and constriction during this season. This may manifest as dry skin, constipation, slow digestion or slow circulation. This will very much depend on your constitution, as well as your Sun sign.
With issues this season, adding a bit of warmth might help to combat the Taurus related cold. This can be done through gentle exercise, warming foods such as soups or using spices, or even relaxing in a warm bath. The Taurus dryness can also be tackled by adding moisture though drinking water, eating juicy fruits or applying moisturising creams and oils to the skin.

Seasonal Effects on Your Sign
FIRE Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Taurus is cold and dry, so opposes your natural heat. You might feel slower or more fatigued because the coldness of Taurus is slowing you down and depriving you of the energy you are used to. It is also possible that you could experience increased frustration and impatiences with delays or the slower pace of the season. Try to stay warm, move the body, and keep routine light and flexible.
Aries – Head, brain, face
Cold and dry Taurus may tighten or constrict blood flow, causing headaches, dry skin, or sinus issues. Aries’ hot nature clashes with the season, leading to irritation or frustration
Leo – Heart, spine, upper back
Cold Taurus may constrict the heart region, leading to feelings of fatigue or chilliness. Dryness can impact flexibility in the back or spine. Stay active and keep warm, especially the upper body.
Sagittarius – Hips, thighs, liver
The earthy, grounded season may feel heavy or slow to Sagittarius, who is all about expansion and exploration. There is a risk of joint stiffness in hips or thighs, or sluggish liver due to the seasons cooling effect on the organs. Stay mobile and eat foods that support the liver (greens and bitters)
EARTH Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
This is your season’s energy, so it might feel grounding and relaxing. It’s a time for chilling out and doing the things that bring you joy and pleasure. You may thrive with establishing or maintaining stability, structure and routine. There is a risk of encouraging too much dryness and stagnation through tension, possibly as a result of your inflexibility. Try to stay hydrated and avoid overworking to avoid too much dryness, stretch and do gentle warm-ups to avoid constriction.
Taurus – Neck, throat, thyroid, voice
This is your season, so throat and neck issues may flare up more easily. There is a risk of dry throat, hoarseness, tight neck muscles, or sluggish thyroid function. Extra care needed if you use your voice a lot.
Virgo – Digestive system, intestines
Virgo’s cold/dry nature matches that of Taurus so may become excessive this season. This could lead to constipation, bloating, or dryness in the gut. Warm, oily foods and gentle movement support balance and prevent excessive coldness and dryness.
Capricorn – Bones, knees, joints, teeth
Cold and dry qualities of Taurus amplify Capricorn’s natural tendency toward stiffness because they share the same qualities. This excess could lead to joint pain, brittle bones or teeth issues. Bone broth, oiling the joints, and staying warm are helpful this season.
AIR Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Taurus season can feel heavy or dulling to you because air is light and rises. You might feel less mentally sharp or more physically sluggish because the coldness of the season is preventing you from achieving your normal clarity and movement from one thing to another. The dryness of Taurus may also affect the vocal cords, especially of sociable Gemini. Try to stay active to avoid the Taurus cold relaxing you too much. Drink water to avoid the dryness in the throat and eat lighter food to avoid being “weighed down” by the season.
Gemini – Lungs, shoulders, arms, hands
Cold and dry Taurus can irritate your airways, especially in sensitive types. There may be a risk of coughs, stiff shoulders or dry skin on the hands. Breath-work or chest-opening exercises can help, as can hand moisturisers.
Libra – Kidneys, lower back, skin balance
Cold and dryness from Taurus can weaken the kidney function or skin hydration. There is also a risk of lower back stiffness or skin imbalances due to the drying effect of the season. Hydration and gentle stretching may help alleviate this.
Aquarius – Ankles, circulation, nervous system
Taurean Dryness may affect the nervous system and the cold can slow circulation. There may be an increased risk of cold feet, muscle twitches or restlessness because the active heat of Aquarius is cooled by Taurus. Regular movement and grounding practices are key during this season
WATER signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
This season could be a mixed bag because the coldness from Taurus compliments the water signs, but the dryness conflicts with their wetness. You might feel emotionally steady from Taurus’ stabilising qualities, but physically more drained or stiff because you are deprived of the moisture that your water body craves for effective functioning. There may be a risk of dehydration, skin dryness or sluggish digestion, so drink warming teas, do some gentle stretching and allow for emotional check-ins.
Cancer – Chest, breasts, stomach
Cancer is cold and wet, so the season’s dryness might balance or over-dry your body. There may be issues with indigestion, dry coughs, or a feeling of emotional “tightness”.Warm, moist, soothing foods are ideal.
Scorpio – Reproductive organs, elimination system
Cold Taurus can constrict, and dryness may affect elimination, leading to issues such as sluggish digestion or tension in the pelvic region. The cold may also slow hormonal function or dampen desire, especially if emotional expression is sluggish. To support balance, prioritise hydration, warmth, and foods that promote flow such as warming herbs and healthy fats.
Pisces – Feet, lymphatic system, fluid balance
Pisces is cold and wet, so dryness could cause imbalance in fluid flow within the body. Look out for cracked feet, poor drainage, or emotional fatigue. Soothing foot care and staying hydrated are important during this season.
This season is one of grounding and stability as a result of the cold and dry qualities of the Earth element. It asks us to slow down, stabilise, and reconnect with what brings us pleasure. However, this season can also bring imbalance, especially to the hot Fire and Air signs due to their contrasting qualities. Understanding how seasonal energies affect different parts of the body helps us to take appropriate steps to maintain balance.
Blessed Be,
Alan
