Attracting the next step for interviewing

Good morning!

I have a goal for this year to land a new role as a Supervisor at my company. I currently have an application out since 2/26 and am waiting for the next stage… somewhat patiently, lol. Typically, if I won’t be interviewed I would get that email within 7-10 business days.

I’ve been through this process before for a new role and it’s not unusual for it to take time. My current role was a 2 month process. My current Supervisor even gave me a huge document that is the entire list of potential interview questions for Managers - this thing is a gold mine.

A general overview is:
Apply
Wait for next email with link for AI interview (yes it’s weird - you answer 2-3 questions as a recorded video, then 2-3 written answers - which are then reviewed by AI and if you pass that you get to human interviews) My company is HUGE so I’m sure this streamlines the process.
After passing the AI interview I could 1-2 interviews with other Supervisors and Directors

I typically interview extremely well - I once had an extra opening for a class created for me due to how well I do. BUT I am going slightly crazy waiting for the next step at the moment.

I want to increase my odds of that coming soon and went looking for some spells to help speed this up. What I have found are the following:

Pu Erh Tea Spell ( said good morning to the next interview step email coming today, lol)
A Prayer to Your Guardian Angel to Help You Find a Job (no idea the name of my guardian angel, but I know she exists)
Hymn or Victory charm for the Goddess Victoria
Moondrop blessing
Lunar Alchemy New Moon spell ( will do Saturday)
Dream Job Spell
Door Opener Spell

Is this too much? are there other suggestions? maybe one just for continued patience lol? Today I am in an amazingly upbeat and confident mood so I thought I’d do what I can to keep that going and use that power  .

I also did a quick 3 card spread for career and the cards are:
King of Wands
Three of Pentacles
King of Swords
These three appear to be very positive (or so I chose to believe, lol)

Thanks in advance!

I looked up patience in the search engine. A lot came up, but nothing specifically for patience itself.

When I am excited while waiting for something over which I have no control, grounding and centering helps.

I once handed my excitement to a character I’d created to help with my emotions. The energy came back in spades, causing stress rather than the release I needed.

Your confidence is good. You will get the best job for you!

Very valuable resource!

it sounds like you know your strengths and can use them effectively. In my career, the biggest changes came as surprises. The steady advancements came through hard work. Again, it sounds like you are in tune with the hard work. I think your preparatory actions are great. Which ones feel the best to you? I tend to feel what is working and what is not. I try to zero in on the ones I feel are working and use them - whether they be mundane or witchy (some may have a little of both).

I agree with changes being surprises and advancement being hard work.

I decided to go back to school about 8 years ago for the bachelors degree I kept putting off. I graduated with a Business management and economics degree a year ago, and am now working on an Industrial and Organizational Masters degree. Along with that have been promotions to some pretty demanding departments in my company, and I know that a Supervisor role is my next step.

Preparatory wise? reading through the list of questions and having a plan for answering with different situations. I am slightly concerned as they seem to be focused on asking about prior experiences as a manager and I do not have that in this company. However, my supervisor is ready to do mock interviews with me. Always good to have a current supe’s agreement that this is a good next step, lol. He’s also a lot like me as far as being a strong, but introverted leader.

Witchy wise? the ones that I am drawn to the most are:
Prayer to my guardian angel
Lunar Alchemy New Moon spell
Dream Job Spell
Door Opener Spell

I also work 100% from home so having charms, candles, crystals, etc, around my desk is easy and I will be hedging my odds with some of that.

and that simple 3 card spread was amazing for a career spread. I may do a larger one this evening.

This can be a trap question. I watched an otherwise highly qualified person crash and burn when he answered this with modesty saying he had no real management experience. In fact, he had tons. Helping others, making suggestions, and any out-of-office experiences should be considered. Never exaggerate or lie, but don’t hesitate to show enthusiasm to grab challenges with an expectation to succeed. Your degree pursuit should have great data points.

Thank you for the advice

I am prepared to show my experience and natural leadership skills. I am one of those people that ends up leading even when I say I want a backseat role, lol. This is actually also a current, true, story related to my activity in a DEI group at my job.

If you don’t mind me asking your opinion - I have another example outside of the office that shows a lot of leadership skills. If you would rather not answer that is fine as well - I know these have been long winded posts, lol.

My son had joined a new boy scout troop several years ago, and I volunteered to take over an annual pasta dinner with help. The help I got was a notebook with 3 pages of notes that were… minimal, lol. I asked for general ideas and the person that was supposed to do it with me never helped.

That was the most successful pasta dinner the troop had ever had and I had transformed those few notes into a huge spreadsheet to track everything. This covered every part including the donation requests for food supplies, to decor, to the boys assignments, and timing. It was a pretty impressive event - and one person that wanted to see me fail was highly disappointed, lol.

would that be an appropriate example to use in an interview for a management role (leaving out that last part of the person that wanted to see me fail - i would never say that in an interview as it’s subjective)

I also tutor English as a second language (ESL) online - as a second job. While not directly related to my company, it demonstrates a high level of positive interpersonal skills. I teach highly skilled/intelligent adults and have amazing conversations. Which also leads into cultural awareness.

While I don’t routinely work with our international teams, there are times at work when I do. The team I am interviewing for (thinking positive) would be US based as far as I know at the moment, but cultural awareness also goes to other differences such as gender, age, sex, lifestyle choices, etc. I am thinking that this would also be a good way to talk about interpersonal skills if I am asked those questions.

You have the best feel for what you are shooting for. I’ll explain a simple example that does not have that knowledge and needs to be reworded for the situation.

There is a need to present examples as short but significant experiences and try to tie them into the company goals. Don’t use specifics and don’t give a big runup to the example. Use the background information you leave out for any follow-up questions. Explain them in the context of management and try to do more than two. If there is an opportunity, connect to a current company effort and explain how you want to jump in and help.

For instance: You organized a significant and successful scouting event and passed on the plan and outcome to the people that followed ensuring a lasting solution for future events… Make something like that in your words for each item.

Btw: I have some background in this. I’m a retired LC, retired Chief Information Officer and have 10 years experience as a Dean at a small university. That doesn’t mean I am always right but I realized from the last few posts that I needed to provide some context to my comments.

Hi @kelcoffee, you’ve already had some fabulous advice, I hope you don’t mind if I add mine

Maybe you might benefit from making a Luck talisman using the spells8 method:

You could even write on a bay leaf ‘luck in my career’ or something and burn it during the ceremony. It doesn’t have to be something new, in fact something important to you would be more powerful, and you can hold it whenever you need to feel its energy, and during the interview if you want to. Wishing you all the best!

Sigh… finally got the email from the hiring dept. 4.5 weeks after applying. They are ‘going in a different direction, but thanks for applying’

I have a feeling they had someone specific in mind, I’ve seen that before. Which would also explain why the posting was pulled within days but was still showing as ‘accepting applications’ for another month.

oh well… next!

Well that sucks. It does sound like it was put out to cover HR policies. Keep your head up and keep trying !

Sorry it wasn’t what you were hoping for, @kelcoffee - sending hugs :people_hugging:  I’m going to echo what others have said in that if it didn’t work out, then it wasn’t the best path forward. There’s something better and brighter ahead for you! Wishing you all the best as you find it. Much love! :two_hearts:
