Sorry, Siofra- I didn’t mean to send you off on a rune goose chase! You’ve been so kind and helpful with sharing the information already here, it is already a great gift to the forum
And it seems like I jumped ahead and overlapped runes with astrology- I made the assumption that runes would have solar and lunar paths of reading because zoadic signs do, but they really are a wonderfully unique means of divination! While I still see some similarities, it’s clear to me now that runes follow their own rules that stand alone. I have a long way to go in my rune studies!
Thanks again for all your research and sharing your exploration of the runes!
Since I have started learning about the runes & their uses I finally received my cards on the runes. The name of the deck is Wild Runes Deck from Tamed Wild. They are very nice! They have a mantra card, instructions card, identification card, & each rune in alphabetic order, has it’s own card. On the card is the image, names, letter, history & lore, tarot, chakra, & element associations, invocation, charge, associations. A lot of information.
I included images of the deck & the rune that I drew today & I am learning about
What beautiful deck, Siofra! And wow, I really love how it includes the pronunciation next to the rune name. That’s one thing about practicing solitary is that I always second-guess if I’m pronunciating things correctly
Enjoy your lovely new cards- they’re perfect for your rune studies!
Thank you! They really help because I am definitely connecting with my runes & the information isn’t typically Norse specific as other definitions are concerning the runes. In following the history of them, it’s unclear whether the Elder Futhark had been used later in Celtic traditions with references to the God & Goddess & deity type rather than actual deities in a pantheon. So my rune journal is full of all kinds of notes after researching the rune that I pull.
I am kind of in rabbit hole mode with my Celtic Divination & Celtic Paganism. There’s a new offshoot every day for me to look into, such as the Celtic Tree Associations with calendars, months, moons… sorting all of that out is a good time too, but secondary to the rune studies at this point.
