Customizing candles with melted crayons

You know how some spells call for carving sigils, glyphs or symbols into candles? I read this craft technique in Woman’s World and I think I will try it the next time I need to create a special candle.

Peel the paper off broken crayons and sort them by color into silicone bakeware, e.g. muffin forms. Bake in a preheated oven at 275 degrees for 12 minutes. Dip fine-tipped paintbrushes in melted crayon and paint candles with designs as desired. If crayons re-harden, melt again in oven. I’ve also seen glitter applied, if you want bling

That’s a good idea! I’ve taken candle shavings and melted down some tealights to change their colors but I’ve never done this. I think I’d be too scared to try it  but I have some really nice paintbrushes that I don’t want to accidentally ruin. Maybe toothpicks could be used instead!

I like the creativity of this way of working with candle wax.

@MeganB, maybe even the stir sticks or popsicle sticks depending on what you’re putting on the candle.

Even the coffee stirrer sticks if you needed something a bit smaller, but I would think if you did it holding it vertical then you could make it work! She may have an idea too if she is crafty & creative also. :heartpulse:

Clever girl. I’ve thought of using a hot knife or glue gun to make indentations of sigils and filling them with soft wax of your chosen color. Just saying. :grinning:
