Fun Friday (Part 2)

See, that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do! It doesn’t work for me, though, I only taste the salt these days. I do insist on watermelon (and most fruits) be at complete room temperature to get the full sweetness - otherwise, the chill from the fridge dampens the flavor.

I bet if you said it in Klingon, it would make others jump from the plane! Klingon always sounds scary!

That’s just lovely. Sounds like plain old human fellowship to me - people like to be seen and acknowledged. You’re very thoughtful.

What a beauty! She does look small in the picture, but what excellent detail!

o HO! So, no food throwing at you unless we’re intentionally asking for it!

awww… your snake sounds so cute! Now that you’re saying this, I recall my sister had a soft snake, and she would wrap it around her neck in the winter. Said it kept her warm.

Wow - you’re very brave! It seems most of us are taking a hard pass on this. I agree that the only way to do it would be in tandem with a seasoned pro - they’d be right there with you!

I love all your favorite compliments!

Yayyy - you made it here to play!

So you’re also in the camp where if someone throws food at you, they’re just begging for trouble. :joy:

Maybe it is kind of a regional thing…? Because my grandparents/aunts/uncles were in Missouri and that’s where I was given the salt shaker as a kid!

Aww… look at Eeyore! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: He’s very snuggly-looking.

I thought I was the only one who ever had a stuffed giraffe! I loved mine - wish I knew what had become of him. :giraffe:

Yeah, it sounds like that ship has sailed! I think once we get a little older, we start to lose a little of our youthful daredevil ideas, and start to think about not messing up anything good - you know, like living.

You go, sister! That is an incredible review - leadership, taking initiative - good for you! I’ve said it before - you are going to make a fantastic nurse!

  • What’s the best food for a food fight?

Whipped cream. Check out the movie Animal House for a gross example

  • Do you put salt on your watermelon?

What else would one put on it? Sure.

  • What kind of stuffed animal did you have as a kid?

Didn’t have one. I adopted my daughter’s pet dragon for a while… cuz it was feeling lonely

  • Would you ever skydive? If you already have, would you do it again?

I’m of the ilk "Never leave a perfectly good airplane. I trained for it and it wasn’t all that difficult but I always worried that whatever misfortune made me use it, the darn thing wouldn’t open. I’m not afraid of heights (much) but I am afraid of Karma.

  • What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

I don’t have a best one - I love compliments and never try to rate them. They’re all good.

I like it! I have a Kitsune crystal fox that is about that size. I may have to get a Cailleach - I keep reading about her and getting more interested.

This sounds kinda nice, might make an exception if it was just this :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m kinda weirdly selective with this :joy: Anything bad smelling is a no. Anything savoury is a no, but I could enjoy a cake fight or someone pouring syrup on me. Or a bit of slime wrestling :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Ha! I feel like I should remember that, since I’ve seen this movie more than once - but I don’t. Guess it’s been too long - but I have no doubt it was both funny and gross!

No stuffed animal to call your very own?!? Awww…

I wondered if you had already done it! With your training background, I kinda thought you would have. I’m glad you never had to try it - karma and all that.

Totally fair. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

My Mom’s from Texas, so it could be that sort of. Texas is closeish to Kansas. Sort of.

Eh, I’d probably sound like a cat coughing something up if I ever tried. LOL!

Thank you, dear heart! And yeah, I try to make the people dealing with the public feel good about themselves.

She’s only 3 inches high, but she’s lovely! I’m really impressed!

I’m afraid of the sudden stop. But I get what you mean. I’d worry that the person at the parachute factory had had a bad day and missed a few stitches or something.

I love the idea of Kitsune. Don’t know if I’d like the actual kind. LOL!

I didn’t think I would like the Kitsune early on but I researched the idea of Trickster Foxes and found a book that was about the Korean version (called Kumiho). Kitsunes and Kumihos have undergone huge cultural changes and both are portrayed much more positively. They are amazingly aligned more with the Norse Trickster (Loki) but with more compassion and romance. There are LOTS of Asian soaps about them.

Remind me not to book with you two!

Sounds like this is your calling. I’m happy for you! :sparkling_heart:

I had a friend who enjoyed cleaning up whipped cream after such a fight with the love of his life. Tasted soo good, he said. He was a sex addict, too. Fun times, he said.

I’d heard of it in Indiana, and I tried it once; but we didn’t get watermelon that often, so I forgot about it.

Did he have the autism-ADHD combo too? I can believe he had the time of his life! :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

Oh, he passed before such things were diagnoses. I wouldn’t be surprised, though.

I have been heavily influenced by YuYu Hakusho, an anime I watched back in the 90’s a lot. Kurama is a kitsune, I think. Unless there’s other types of trickster Fox demons. I’m a little embarrassed that that’s about all I know about Kitsune. I need to read up on them.

Yep. Kurama is the pop-culture definition of a Kitsune and is a great example of the evolving definitions of Kitsune. My avatar is a Kitsune but I couldn’t cram in those 9 tails.

Yeah, not enough space in our little avatar for all nine tails! LOL!

Absolutely :joy:

That’s probably the case! I’m glad to know more people do it than just a handful. I thought it was strange as a kid lol

Thank you! :pink_heart:

It’s close enough

Thank you! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Happy Friday, my beloved Coven friends!

As this is the last Friday before Yule, I thought it would be nice to incorporate a bit of the Season into this week’s round.

When reading the lovely post from @BryWisteria on Start the Countdown! The 12 Nights of Yule, I learned that December 24th is known, among other things, as the Night of Animals Talking.

I find this both intriguing as well as a kind of romantic notion - after all, who wouldn’t want to simply hold a conversation with our beloved animal friends?

But! This is Fun Friday, not Romantic Notions Friday - and so, my fellow pagans, I will begin this round with this first question to you all:

  1. If animals could talk, which would likely be the rudest? How come?

  2. Do you have a lucky number, or a number that you’re drawn to?

  3. What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

  4. How do you take your tea or coffee?

  5. What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?

I’m off to the store on this blustery cold morning - I’ll be back later with my answers. Have fun, lovelies! :feather:

  • If animals could talk, which would likely be the rudest? How come?
Squirrel. They are territorial and have a good sense of safety zones. They chatter ALL the time and it is never a friendly chatter. I’ve watched them climb down a tree just to get a dog closer so they could scream “Get off my lawn!”.

  • Do you have a lucky number, or a number that you’re drawn to?
When I was small, I stuck a coin in one of those fortune telling slots at a State Fair. I got a lucky number from it and the joy of the machine giving me something stuck.

  • What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Throughout my working career I was always pressed to give the max. When I get a down day, I usually just relax. I have to be dragged to formal events if it is my only day off.

  • How do you take your tea or coffee?
Depends on the coffee. Milk and sugar if it is bad coffee. Straight if it is good coffee. Tea is almost always milk and sugar but I got that from our 12 years in England

  • What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?
Hard to say… I have several things that perk me up that range from a good book passage to a long exercise that gets the dopamines going. Companionship and mutual joy over something rocks, too.

Skunks. No contest. They wouldn’t even say anything rude — they’d just let it rip and walk away like, “I said what I said.” No apology. No eye contact. Just vibes and violence. Honestly, the confidence alone is offensive.

Do you have a lucky number, or a number that you’re drawn to?
I’ve always been drawn to 13. It’s the oddball number, the one everyone side-eyes like it’s going to knock over a ladder and break a mirror on the way out. Naturally, it’s always been lucky for me. I think it appreciates being misunderstood. We get each other.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Ideally, a little time outside soaking up nature, some quality moments with my daughter and my pets, and then curling up with a good book and a cup of tea. Basically, equal parts fresh air and full goblin mode. Balance is important.

How do you take your tea or coffee?
Tea with honey and lemon — soothing, cozy, and just slightly medicinal. Coffee, however, is a completely different personality. That one comes with cream and sugar, courtesy of my great aunt, who introduced me to the idea that coffee is just a dessert pretending to be a beverage.

What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?
An unexpected message from a friend saying I made their day better somehow. That hits right in the heart. Also, a random kiss from my daughter, who gives those out like rare collectibles — you never know when you’ll get one, but when you do, it’s magic.
