Fun Friday (Part 2)

Aww… :hugs: for a lot of folks, decompressing is kind of depressing, after going through all our rituals and routines! It does keep us busy, and then - poof! It’s done. Completely understandable - I hope the New Year lifts your spirits up again!

That’s a much better way of looking at them! It sounds less commanding in tone than a Resolution - that sounds like something that needs a vote! :joy:

Same here! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Why is it that the music from our era is still so relevant? We weren’t imagining it - it really is as amazing as we first thought! hee hee! :musical_note:

Congrats! I’m so happy for you - and thank you for sharing as much as you do around here, too. :dizzy: :sparkling_heart:

I like seeing this perspective, because I am so fascinated by the idea that, however many years from now, some of my favorite bands (considered genre-defying now!) will be old school or entirely irrelevant. And that will make me one of the many keepers of the old ways. :joy:

I couldn’t exactly leave 2025 without popping into Fun Friday land!

I haven’t been crafty in a good while, but I did get myself a couple sets for Christmas to indulge myself next year.

The DoDo. The poor, misunderstood creature who’s name is really doodoo (the word do twice) but for some reason we pronounce it the DohDoh.

Usually the right side.

Whichever foot is closest to be honest.

Errrrm… I honestly don’t know. I’d have to check temu, amazon and etsy and get back to you :see_no_evil_monkey:

Best all-round food is best for a food fight? PO - TA - TOES! Mashed if you’re playing for fun, raw if you’re not, and jacket for a bomb.

Watermelons are nasty.

I didn’t have stuffed animals, well if I did I don’t remember them

If one could GUARANTEE that I wouldn’t die, then I would totally sky-dive. If not, I ain’t getting on no plane.

I’m not good with compliments!

Cats would obviously be the rudest animals. A cat can give you a dirty look and you know it ain’t sharpening it’s claws for fun… they’re devious, raw, and I love them

3 has always been a mystical number for me. And yes, the power of 3 will set me free! :see_no_evil_monkey:

Mums don’t get a day off, not really. But, there are so many ways to inject a little magick into one’s day - I like to do my nails, myself of course because who can afford that these days.

Lift Lemon Tea with 3 sugars. Haven’t had tea or coffee in a long time but used to be milk and 3 sugars.

My daughter. And bubbles.

That was fun, kinda like speed dating but without the conversation :see_no_evil_monkey::folded_hands:t5: not that I’ve ever done speed dating… Anyhoo, a blessed New Year dear Coven!

x Blessed Be x

Why, no…no, you could not! :hugs: Yayyy!

This sounds intriguing…I’m already looking forward to seeing what you do with this!

 I think it’s potatoes for the win!

hee hee! You’ll get no argument from me! :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

Aww…

A blessed New Year to you and yours, sweet Nikki! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Sorry I am late on my responses.

As a kid, I didn’t realize the difference but being an adult, I love the time afterwards, but I like buying presents, though not in crowded malls and such.

I try to do them, even though my mom always said that they were useless because no one ever follows through on them. Most of time, I saw I am going to lose weight or do something new.

As a half Puerto Rican and half black American, I’d live to be able to communicate with my mom in her native language. Then I live in Japan, so I’d love to speak that language fluently, if possible. I also would like to be able to speak Korean, and be super confident about visiting my friend who lives in South Korea.

Well, I only started my magical path a few weeks before Samhain this past year, but I want to say that it went as well as it could. 2026 will be my first full year.

No worries! Fun Friday is always open, whenever you have time!

Agreed! It’s not so much dealing with the events and expectations of the holiday, as how we go through them! I prefer to avoid crowded shopping areas, too - and love the quiet aftermath! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

You have such a beautiful heritage! It’s a natural desire to want to speak fluently in your mom’s native language. You have a unique situation, living and working as you do in a foreign country, and Japanese isn’t an easy language to learn! A lot of us would appreciate being able to visit any country and be confident about speaking the native tongue - it sure would give confidence just to get yourself around.

You’re doing great! :sparkling_heart:

Happy Friday. my lovelies! It’s the first Friday of 2026, and that means it’s time for our first Fun Friday of 2026!

Without further delay, here we go!

  1. Do you like the taste of cough syrup?

  2. How far can you throw a Frisbee?

  3. Is it ketchup or catsup in your part of the world? Do you put it on your hash browns?

  4. What was the last TV show you binge-watched?

  5. What do you do with your shopping cart when you’re done unloading it?

I’ll be back later with my own answers - it’s off to the store now. :sparkling_heart:

Yay!

  • Do you like the taste of cough syrup?
Homemade cough syrup is great. The store stuff is just a necessity when coughing and tastes terrible.

  • How far can you throw a Frisbee?
Today.. not far. I have thrown them quite far when we were goofing around. Depending on the wind, a couple hundred feet easily. The thing about a Frisbee is that it isn’t strength but the wrist action that gets it going

  • Is it ketchup or catsup in your part of the world? Do you put it on your hash browns?
I’ve seen it both ways with ketchup being what I learned to say. I definitely put it on hash browns - along with runny egg!

  • What was the last TV show you binge-watched?
Nurse Jackie. We just started Landman. The SO and I tend to like the same kind of series with some exception. She loves Downton Abbey, I loved The Terminal List. We both loved The Good Wife and House of Cards (and others).

  • What do you do with your shopping cart when you’re done unloading it?
Ahhhh! The famous shopping cart test! It is honorable to put it in the cart corral. It is dishonorable to leave it where you emptied it.

  • Here, the big shopping centers have the cart corral far from disabled parking so if you are disabled, it is actually easier/safer to schlep the groceries to a parking space that has a corral near rather than have to walk back through parking traffic. I had a bad case of sciatica and was walking back to my car and a woman backed out without looking and knocked me to the ground. I’m now paranoid about parking lot traffic… and the woman heard words she probably still hears in her sleep.

  • When someone neatly grounds a cart somewhere that is far from a corral, I understand. Disabled? Kids with you? Sub-zero with winds? It is safer to nicely ground the cart than suffer the alternative. (/rant )

I’m missing out, apparently. How does one make a tolerable cough syrup at home? Are we talking about more than just a shot of tequila here?

Exactly! If you’re good it will catch that breeze and sail away. If you’re bad (like me) it goes below the breeze and nose-dives into the ground. :joy:

I’ve wondered about that. Definitely like the actress - might give it a go!

That show was phenomenal up until the last season, when the producers clearly just wanted to end it. What a shame.

That’s just wrong! I wouldn’t blame anyone for just hiking it up on the curb.

That’s terrible!!! I keep my head on a swivel in parking lots - worst place to drive or have to walk very far. Glad you were okay!

Honey, ginger, lemon, cayenne pepper. Some add vinegar but I add rum. Since you said it, I’ll go for Tito next time! However, our daughter uses tea to make it more liquidy. Don’t add too much liquid since you want it to stick a bit - it stops the coughing - at least temporarily.

Her character is NOTHING like her others. She does a great job (got awards, etc).

re; House of Cards last season and phoning it in.

They absolutely did. Loss of one of the leads left them sputtering.

Thank you! Spirits like rum or tequila make more sense to me than the vinegar - and I imagine would taste better, too! :+1:

Oh yay! It’s Friday!

Honey, ginger, lemon, cayenne pepper. Some add vinegar but I add rum.

I’m a pirate! I’ll take a hot toddy with rum any day!

and the woman heard words she probably still hears in her sleep.

She deserved them! How rude!

  1. Do you like the taste of cough syrup? Heck no! When I’m sick, I drink, tea, tea, tea! With lemon and raw honey. And lots of it!

  2. How far can you throw a Frisbee? Frisbees are foreign objects to me. Little plastic UFOs. They have never been my friend. I always end up flinging it at someone and knocking them down!

  3. Is it ketchup or catsup in your part of the world? Do you put it on your hash browns? We call it ketchup over here and it goes on everything if you’re my daughter lol. I do like it on hash browns and Christmas ham.

  4. What was the last TV show you binge-watched? Okay… this one is hard. Let me think. I’ve never been a TV person. I have always loved books more. I think the last show I binged watched with my daughter was “Queer Eye.” We love the Fab 5 and how they help people! I do love documentaries though!

  5. What do you do with your shopping cart when you’re done unloading it? Since I can no longer do that stuff myself very well, I have my daughter put the cart back in the corral or by the front of the store if the corral is 10 miles away in another county.

Happy first Friday of the year everyone! :balloon:

I’m with Dan here with the homemade stuff  Store-bought… don’t need it, sometimes enjoy it for the licorice-y taste :winking_face_with_tongue: :champagne:

My go-to mix has been honey, ginger, lemon, turmeric and black pepper with a green tea base, optionally with some spiced rum or Fireball added in :fire: Will have to give cayenne pepper a try next time. Especially as it reminds me of a certain cute witch who uses it a lot :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Aye! A woman after me own heart :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes: :crossed_swords: :pirate_flag:

Depends on how many trees there are in the way, and whether I’m standing on a hill or not  And if the wind fairies are liking my face that day or not. :fairy:

Ketchup, or “ketsuppi” :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes: I had to look up hash browns, believe it or not :joy: I think I would, definitely do with fries. Sometimes with a bit of habañero sauce mixed in for the fun of it  :hot_pepper:

White Lotus :lotus:
Loved the characters and the tension between them. Devoured the first and the third season, ended up skipping the second, didn’t really like the setting and the cast.

Take it back to the nearest corral. Leave it unlocked, after having picked the lock in a way that it doesn’t need a deposit. :innocent:

I didn’t used to, and I’ve been taking the capsules for cough meds instead of the syrup for so long, I don’t know what the new, modern cough syrups would taste like. It’s probably been a good fifteen or so years since I’ve had anything like that. I even take Nyquil in the capsules.

Umm, it depends. Out in a field? Probably two feet, tops. In the house, at least ten feet or however far away the most expensive object to break is.

It’s ketchup here, and I’m a weirdo. I don’t even put ketchup on fries, unless they’re really bad fries.

Law and Order, Forever Knight, and Spencer for Hire. I’m stuck in the 80s/90s.

At the store, if I can, put it back. It depends on how far away the cart organizer thing is. At Amazon, I start thinking about what I want to buy next month. LOL!

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: :squinting_face_with_tongue:  Yeah, I don’t think there’s a correct emoticon for what I want to say. So I’ll say nothing.
