Fun Friday (Part 2)

This is awesome, sister! You’re very organized. I might use this as a cheat sheet for inspiration sometimes, if you don’t mind.

I feel the same way with my two kitties - I like to think I’m fluent in Bex and Finn. :joy_cat:

I’m so sorry. :hugs: None of us are made of stone, and things can bubble up that demand our attention. I’m so glad you’re back here now and feeling better! :raising_hands:

 You never fail to make me laugh!

I love this! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This is so fantastic - congrats! So many of us struggle a bit finding witchy friends IRL. I personally rely on this coven!

Burn, baby, burn! You’re a force of nature!

Being a Sagittarius, I must have organization and structure (lol) otherwise nothing would get done! My mind flies by the seat of its own pants!

You know I don’t mind! Whatever I share, anyone can use. Sharing is caring!

I am too! All of you are the highlights of my day! There is something so warm and comforting to be around like-minded people. And all of our activities are so much fun!

And you never fail to make me feel all warm and fuzzy with your encouragement and taking the time to respond to everything and everyone individually :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: You deserve a Coven Cheerleader badge if there’s one :woman_dancing: :growing_heart:

Well, I think as I get older, I like to rest and decompress. I used to enjoy going out on Black Friday, if only to see people losing their minds, but now? Nope. Not going anywhere, thank you very much. I had two naps today and yesterday. That’s much more my speed nowadays.

Nope, because I nearly always break them. I do have a goal of organizing my bedroom, but that’s about it.

Animals, defiantly! Then again, I watched that Beastmaster movie one too many times in the ‘80s. Marc Singer’s abs and Podo and Kodo for the win!

I like a lot of music, Celtic, ‘80s, Beach Boys, and Metal. I think I like Syphonic Rock the best, though. Nightwish and Within Temptation. That sort of Goth sound, you know?

Pretty good, I think. I found my patron Goddess, and things seem to have gone easier for me afterwards.

Yeah, that’s true. You don’t want to know for sure that Cats are our Furry Overlords. Then again, I’m pretty sure that Homeward Bound had it right, the dogs think about turkey. Or a ball.

  • Do you prefer the hustle and bustle running up to the holidays, or the time afterwards to decompress?
Decompressing - but that’s because it feels so good right now.

  • Do you do New Year’s Resolutions? What might they be, if you do?
Nope. I only make NYE resolutions. (no booze, go to bed at 12:00:15 a.m.)

  • Would you rather be able to talk to animals, or be able to speak every human language?
I’m a closet linguaphile so… spoken languages for the win. However, if I wanted to start a new and lucrative career - I would choose the Doolittle thing.

  • What’s your favorite kind of music?
Totally eclectic. Depending on the mood I can go from classical, to celtic, to current pop, to 80s. The SO hates my playlist.

  • How did everything go in your magickal world in 2025?
Pretty well! Lots of discoveries, new digital friends, my health didn’t get worse… much anyway. Family is better than ever, my path was clarified further.

Both have intense emotions- one the terror of the “naughty list,” whether on the buying and forgetting end or on the receiving end, and the other the disappointment of not having heard from loved ones (confirming that I’m on their naughty list) and missed expectations from having had too much to do. Yet would the emotions go away if the stores didn’t push holiday spending and the media didn’t remind us of social expectations? Probably not. Even illness doesn’t cover the emotions. Both carry memories.

Not at this time of year. Back at Samhain, yes, usually. My Samhain resolutions were cleaning the apartment and regaining some semblance of health. Not going well, so far, but the year is still young.

Ooh! Trick question! Are humans of the animal kingdom? The one could easily contain the other.

I’d choose animals. They aren’t as unruly as humans, yet.

When I was a kid, I liked animals better than humans, probably because I couldn’t understand humans. Now that I’m older, I might have more patience with the two legged animals, though I still have little comprehension of some of their choices.

My driver says I can talk to the wild birds and they seem to understand me. She’s always asking me to tell them to get out of the way when she’s driving and to avoid pooing on her truck. I was always good with cats and coons.

That varies with the seasons. I’m just breaking into Bee Gees and Beach Boys with a touch of Hawaii on the side until Hawaii takes over in February. Memories of waiting to hear of snow days while listening to WOWO radio and tunes I wasn’t otherwise allowed to listen to, in case of mentions of sex and drug use.

Early summer was great. The rest of the year was a fight. I don’t even remember the wait- from January until long Covid hit. I never do remember the wait. It’s just a prep period for what has come almost every year since the early 1990’s, hoping against hope that May hurries up and finds me still healthy. Once May is done, I can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s usually over for the rest of the year. The last time I had a sick year like this was 2007-8, so I’m hoping for another 18 years of the usual pattern or better.

Yes! Those chocolate covered caramels! Oh. You might not have them available in your area. Sorry. :joy:

I prefer the decompressing afterwards. I do love this time of year but get stressed out beforehand…being a teacher, its all nativity plays, christmas concerts and trying to keep 30 kids off the ceiling! Schools are wonderful at this time of year but also very stressful. After its all over, theres that feeling of “aaaand relax”.

I don’t do resolutions because I can never keep them . Saying that, it is my intention to focus more on my manifesting in the coming year using the Moon Cycles.

This is a hard one…i would love to know what my animal friends were thinking and thing my relationship with my wee cats and dogs would be even stronger. I always feel that animals seem to approach me and it would be great to ask them why. At the same time, i really love languages. I did French and German at school and have been doing Spanish now as well for a fee years. I love the idea of being able to (or attempt to) communicate with people in their own language when I visit their country, and it is often appreciated.

My music taste is very eclectic. I do not have a favourite arist really, but if I like a song, ill listen. I go through phases e.g. Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, but then it can go to 80s electropop eg Pet Shop Boys, then to music inspired by the Egyptian deities…as I said, very eclectic.

I would say my practices dipped somewhat this year. I went through a period where I felt i was losing my “faith” almost so took a step back. I feel now though that I am being called back, particiuarly to Moon and Planetary work. I am also looking at currently joining an official Kemetic Temple as well so that my practice becomes more structured. We will see what they year ahead brings.

A little side note, my mum (knowing I am Egypt on the brain) sent me this meme that I found amusing . I will never listen to the Wham song in the same way again…

Reason is not available at the time in my country, which kinda explains some things

That is a hilarious way to put it! The people-watching aspect is definitely part of the Black Friday vibe.

But that’s a worthy goal! We should all rummage through our closets and drawers periodically - you not only get organized, but you might find stuff you thought was lost.

I do know! You have a fabulous spread of musical tastes. It’s one of the best things humans can do, so we should enjoy it! :musical_notes:

Beautiful. :sparkling_heart:

I hear that! It takes a minute to appreciate how much charging around has just occurred!

Yeah, that’s because we know you blew it out on Christmas day with the family!

Sounds like a pretty good year overall! Yay!

I agree! It’s a lot of added pressure to spend money, and try to make things perfect for everyone you know. An impossible ask, but advertising is relentless!

You’re exactly right! I didn’t think of it that way!

Those are great choices, especially for the winter months! It sounds like fun to switch things around for the seasons. :musical_notes: :musical_note:

I’m so sorry! :people_hugging: Fingers crossed that this year will be a big improvement for you! :folded_hands:

Oh, I didn’t know you’re a teacher, Alan! 30 kids is a lot of excited little souls to chase around! I guess you do prefer to decompress when it’s over.

I agree! But your point about how much it’s appreciated by people whose country you’re visiting is well taken. Every little bit helps.

Oh, this sounds fascinating! I hope you let us know how it goes, if you do decide to join.

Love the cartoon from your mum!

Excellent!

!!! Absolutely!!! That and arts and crafts. Maybe if we get too busy with the best things the lack of reason (or Riesen candy) won’t affect us as much.

You do know how to keep an elephant from charging, don’t you? :joy:

I remember summers watching TV ads for snow when it was 90° out and winters watching summer beach scenes all the time. It wasn’t just my area: Vietnam and Korea may have been the same way, hearing “we’re having a heat wave” sung on MASH while the characters froze and played strip poker.

Yes ive been teaching 18 years now. This year i have a class of 33 11 year olds :see_no_evil_monkey::see_no_evil_monkey: so the run up to the holidays was…full on!.

:face_with_peeking_eye: I can’t even imagine the energy levels in your classroom! Here’s hoping they’ll return in a bit of decompression mode themselves.

Enjoy your time off! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I still haven’t put away all my Fall stuff, and I have Yule boxes everywhere. So I need to get that all sorted. Plus, we’re having an apartment inspection again next month so I’ll want to start on my Imbolc Cleaning.

Thanks, love!

I still sing Heat Wave when it gets bitterly cold. MASH was one of my favorite shows!

I just realized that I never answered my own questions. :joy:

As much as I do enjoy some of the pre-holiday hustle and bustle, with more cooking, shopping, and events, I find more and more that I’m looking beyond that to the part where it’s done, the buzzing has quieted, and it’s time to decompress. I’m trying to be more in the moment, so looking beyond the festivities to the quiet seems…hmmm, a little sad or inappropriate, because I never want to wish time away. It’s a bit of an internal struggle!

I made a NY Resolution once, years ago, to never make another. I am still holding fast to this resolution. Go, me!

As wonderful as it sounds to be able to talk with animals, I think I’d regret it at the end of the first hour. I can’t imagine driving past, say, a pasture of cows without getting some verbal abuse: “Enjoy that burger last night, lady? YOU SUCK!!!” Even if I were vegan I think animals would be heaping a lot of verbal abuse our way on the trashing of the planet and their loss of habitat. What are we supposed to do - tell them it’s going to be okay? I’d expect jeering and taunting wherever I went. On the other hand, if I could easily talk to anyone, anywhere, maybe it would help to spread understanding, or at least be able to spread good will by opening dialog.

Back in the day, we pagan types were known by other labels: hippies, tree-huggers and the like. But we certainly had fabulous sound tracks back then, too. I like a great deal of old rock & roll, sometimes played really loud, too. I also love Motown, Mozart, pop (like the Beach Boys) and Chopin - I like many styles of music. Country music, folk music, hip hop - these don’t always reach me. I’m sure it’s lack of understanding on my part. :musical_notes:

This past magickal year has been pretty darn good! I’m happy to have come across this Coven which has been a wealth of information for me. I’ve felt validated in many ways, and like I can finally exhale. Bring on the next year!

  • Do you prefer the hustle and bustle running up to the holidays, or the time afterwards to decompress?
I prefer the lead-up. It’s just the two of us, so there isn’t really any huge rush to get things done. I like to look at Christmas lights, watch Christmas movies, concerts, listen to carols etc. The period afterwards is just an anti climax and rather depressing.

  • Do you do New Year’s Resolutions? What might they be, if you do?
I used to set resolutions, but now they are more like goals or “suggestions”. I did well this year as they were all related to my witchy path and I kept up with them all.

  • Would you rather be able to talk to animals, or be able to speak every human language?
I would prefer to be able to talk to animals, without a doubt

  • What’s your favorite kind of music?
Depends why I’m listening. If I’m on my exercise bike, I like to listen to lively music with a good beat that can keep me pedalling at 12 mph. But I like many styles of music. I grew up with the Beatles, and the Monkees, then Motown, then rock. England in the 1970s had some awesome bands, many of which are still on my playlist. Not a fan of rap, hip hop or opera, but other than that, I am pretty open.

  • How did everything go in your magickal world in 2025?
This magical year has been wonderful. This was my first full year as part of this Coven, and on my witchy path. I’ve learned and grown so much.
