Pretty good. It would be better if Old Man Winter weren’t such a butthole. LOL!
I keep coming up with mammals that are sea creatures. Manatees. Dolphins. Things like that. I don’t know of many fish and other types of sea creatures, unless they’re on a menu. Maybe Narwhal? The weirdo of the Ocean? But no, that’s a mammal too. Sheesh this is hard. Blowfish, I guess. I’m full of hot air half the time.
Book-book, was Your Imbolc Kit for the Book Club. But I also read a 911 Fanfiction called Looking for my Heart that was over 288,000 words and 40 chapters, so that’s sort of like a book, right?
Snow White and Rose Red. The Heroes are saved by the Damsels half the time. Very fun.
I have a spell and a ritual planned, and I had ordered a special bit of food, but it hasn’t gotten here. Walmart was supposed to deliver to me today by 1 pm, and it’s still not here! I want my donut!
I’m gonna make me a big pot of chili next week, if Walmart will deliver to me. LOL! But that all sounds so yummy!
I never thought of a mythological creature! Very cool!
I just can’t see the resemblance. You’re not that grumpy!
It’s the final Friday of January - how’s your New Year shaping up so far?
It’s shaping up pretty well. Things are aligning. I’m making creative time, which is something I had wanted to do. Plans are underway for the witch’s garden once spring gets here. Eric and I are planning a trip to visit Dad in the UK in the summer, and including a coach tour up in Scotland, as Eric is really eager to see the Highlands.
If you lived underwater, what kind of creature would you be?
A seahorse! If for no other reason than they are cute! Oh, and the fact that the males carry the eggs and hatch them.
What was the last book you read? (Any type!)
The Crow Trap - Ann Cleves. First of the series of books featuring DI Vera Stanhope (Eric got me the boxed set for Christmas)
What’s your favorite fairy tale?
I never was one for fairy tales, so I don’t have a favorite.
Imbolc is this weekend! Do you have anything special planned?
I’ll be doing a couple of rituals this weekend - one for the Full Snow Moon and one for Imbolc. And also a couple of tarot spreads (again, one for the Full Snow Moon and one for Imbolc) And I’m looking forward to my creamy potato soup and ciabatta bread lunch on Sunday
I’ve got a recipe for potato soup - it is a Don & Millies clone. Too many ingredients but it is delicious. My shortcut is to get canned stuff and punch it up with more stuff. I do like potato soup.
Fall’s illness has healed. I have not returned to any sort of patterns as yet. Without patterns, not much gets done regularly.
Having some trouble with my heater. When Maintenance arrived, I thought the usual: they’d find nothing and tell me I’m hallucinating. There would be nothing they could do until the whole heater went out. Surprisingly, the heater has a motherboard! Blinking lights patterned overheating. They ordered a part, which will take “a minute” to come in (an old hick slang phrase meaning a long time, but no definite time period), and hopefully the heater will hold in there until it comes in. Meanwhile, a space heater covers the early morning hours when the furnace quits working.
Today, it was actually warm enough for me to get a shower! Yay!
I was surprised to hear the slang. Hadn’t heard it in a looooong time! Obviously, the maintenance man was aware that it was an older phrase which few people had heard around here: he restated the phrase fairly quickly with very little chance for me to react. I need to ask where this young fellow is from, originally, since I didn’t notice an accent.
I am just now finishing The Three Investigators and the Mystery of Monster Mountain. I should be done by the time I fall asleep tonight. Not impressed with this one, but if anyone is curious about the series, The Mystery of the Singing Serpent treats witchcraft fairly well, despite alerting people of the dangers of scam artists.
Well, I’m back to living Cinderella atm. I’d like to get myself a bit closer to the story of the girl who took care of the magickal cats. She was rewarded with being covered in gold, while her snobbish stepsister did no work and found herself covered in oil. At the moment, I’m kind to my roommate, but I have little discipline, so I’d be greased.
Laundry in the morning. Possible day of rest on Sunday. There is no money left to go out, so staying home until payday on the 3rd. I’ve been watching space themed videos, lately. Still have quite a few unwatched, so that will continue a while. I may attempt an indoor barbecue on Sunday, for fun, and in honor of a former neighbor (lost to Covid) and her caretaker. Gotta remember to thaw the main course and some fruit to go with it.
It’s the final Friday of January - how’s your New Year shaping up so far? it feels like a gentle unfolding rather than a rush. January has been about grounding, listening, and setting quiet intentions. I’m shedding what no longer serves me and making space for growth as the light slowly returns. With Imbolc approaching, it feels like the threshold between rest and renewal — seeds are stirring, even if they’re not visible yet
If you lived underwater, what kind of creature would you be?
A dolphin — a gentle guardian of the seas, intuitive, loving, and deeply connected to emotion and community. Its nature mirrors my own.
What was the last book you read? (Any type!)
A Journey into Shamanism. It opened doorways for me. I’m currently moving between several books, weaving knowledge and magic together as I explore the unseen world.
What’s your favorite fairy tale?
I don’t feel drawn to just one — I carry pieces of many stories within me.
Imbolc is this weekend! Do you haveyou have anything special planned?
Yes. My husband will be joining me in ritual. With the Snow Moon rising and us both being Cancerians, the timing feels divinely aligned. This will be my first Imbolc, and sharing it with him makes it sacred
It’s the final Friday of January - how’s your New Year shaping up so far?
Things have been pretty interesting to say the least…. but I can’t say that I did not expect it. The year started off extremely well, but I knew something major was going to happen I just couldn’t see if it was going to be in my home or work life, etc…and today, I was laid off from work! Oddly enough I am not upset… it feels like a weight has been lifted It had been long overdue Now the real work begins!
If you lived underwater, what kind of creature would you be?
I would be a sea turtle or a beluga whale
What was the last book you read?
I haven’t read to many books lately, but I have been reading a lot of DIY guides and manuals, etc. book
What’s your favorite fairy tale?
Sadly, I don’t think I have one.
Imbolc is this weekend! Do you have anything special planned?
Still brainstorming
Oh wow! That sounds so neat! Between the Celtic mythology, Hogwarts, and Highlander, I’ve always wanted to go there! I hope your trip goes well!
Good idea! I didn’t think of that one.
I hate it when stuff like that happens. It’s awful, but what can you do? If it makes you feel any better, I was supposed to get food delivered between 11 and 1 yesterday. I’m still waiting. Hopefully, I’ll get it today.
I think I read that one, long, long ago! I always liked The Three Investigators over The Hardy Boys.
That’s so great! I’m glad your SO is joining you and being supportive.
I hate that you got laid off, but it sounds like it was a good thing and will give you time to find a good job that’s right for you. Good luck!
It is psychological in some ways. Our house is warm enough but just looking outside at -7F causes me to freeze up mentally. I waited through the worst of the cold and then took that shower. Then put on a coat and kept it on for the day… inside… where it is 70F.
I’ve made the from scratch recipe but it takes a while. So, I use Progresso canned soup, a dollop of instant potato to thicken and add just a touch of cream… then a smidgen of chopped green onion (before heating and some for the top) and . Oh… and shredded cheddar to finish. Very dietetic. WW points of only 155.
The great part is they caught it before the furnace went out completely, they listened to me, and they actually found it without the attitude or name calling! I’m totally impressed!
Have you checked on the order? It sounds like they may have cancelled it on you. Or at least that’s what they have done to me. Gotta watch Wally World. Good luck getting what you need!
You’re probably the one who introduced me to them. Thank you. It has been enjoyable. I hadn’t heard of them before.
My body temperature actually drops- probably psychosomatic, since doctors haven’t been able to figure it out. My normal is only 97.1 anyway, so when my temp drops, it can get dangerous. Add open pores and dropping indoor temps when I least expect them, and I wish I were Elsa… or Heat Miser so I could raise the temps!
First, this guy is scary as hell with those teeth - eeek!!! Second, you may get grumpy but I must dispute the tiny brain size!
Oh, that’s great! Not a classic fairy tale per se, but it sure has all the right elements - and a fabulous score, to boot!
Aww, that’s the spirit, Sis!
I love this! I didn’t even think about a beautiful sea turtle. Turtles of any size are so amazing, aren’t they?
Thank you for the reminder!! I know I have an old copy around somewhere - I need to dig it out and join you in there! (And yeah, it might take a minute, but so what? )
You need to pick the one with the best sense of humor - I keep telling you, this is your superpower!
Sure sounds like a book to me - then some!
I hope it’s finally arrived, and you have a lovely Imbolc with your spell and ritual!
This sounds fantastic, Jayne! I think I’ll sneak into an oversized suitcase and be a stowaway. Wonderful plans!
I didn’t know that about the male seahorses! I’d say that’s very smart species! Plus, they’re just so awesome to look at.
Sounds perfect. I have a loaf of ciabatta bread in the kitchen right now, waiting. It bakes up so heavenly! Yum!
That’s such good news. The patterns will reform in good time - or should I say, they might take a minute? I heard that phrase a lot while living in the SE USA.
This sounds wonderful, @carrianne - very restorative. I’m so happy things are going well!
Terrific choice! Dolphins and porpoise are both such smart and majestic creatures.
This sounds fascinating!
I hope you both have a Blessed Imbolc!
Oh, I’m sorry you were laid off. It definitely sounds like you had a premonition that something was lurking. I’m glad you’re not feeling upset about it - best of luck with a new job doing something you enjoy.
Another vote for the sea turtle! And of course, whales are also incredibly smart and sensitive animals.
I hope you end up having a peaceful and lovely Imbolc, @BizzzyBee22 !
What a beautiful comment!
Yay! I’m with you on that! Great music in The Little Mermaid, too!
I’m so glad things are going well. Being busy makes time fly, which is sometimes a good thing!
ooo! Very intriguing answer. I like it.
I’ve not heard of this one - but I love this character!
I love it! This is what makes life worth living. Have a blessed Imbolc, @katharina !
Happy Friday! Loving and appreciating the sunshine Not a fan of the temperature (-25°C / -13°F)
Can only say: what a ride Took care of my sick father for a little over a week, despaired in the darkness, fell in love with a couple living in the next town over, had a wonderful and hot date with one of them, bought a leash for the other one, had great plans for moving together but instead ended up breaking up after a week… learned some things about myself, my energy system and my relationships, and found new love and passion with my girlfriend
“What a year!” “Captain, it’s February!”
I’d love to be a mermaid
Might also be fun to be a pufferfish, puffing around the sea, having dolphins rub themselves against me to get high and end up skillfully filleted by a Japanese chef to be served to some foolhardy tourist as their possibly last meal
Think the last one I finished was this interesting biography of a Haitian Vodou priestess living in Brooklyn Born in Haiti, she brought her practice and deities with her, and started doing ceremonies, welcoming everyone interested. It’s a good book with a lot of heart and reverence for the subject matter and the people and cultures involved (by my judgment).
Gonna be so real with you: my inner gremlin (read: id) always (angrily) suggests fire (i.e., property damage) first, to which my ego says “well, how about we light some candles and set intentions instead?”
