~What’s your most hated household chore? How come?
Laundry - hands down. It never ends! Even after a couple of loads where the hamper is empty and everything is put away…the end of the day comes. And what happens then? You dump your clothes into the hamper!
~Do you like olives? If so, what’s your favorite kind?
I don’t like the icky little pimento stuffed green olives, or the mushy black ones they put on pizza. I especially love Kalamata olives (and I make a mean tapenade!), and those giant size firm green ones. What are they called? Cerignola?
~Would you rather have a tail or a third eye?
Third eye - either hidden internally like souped-up intuition, or hidden in my hair like the creepy guy in the diner from Twilight Zone!
~What animal best represents joy to you?
A singing bird. Not a call, singing only for joy, because joy is inherent in his being.
~How much AI do you use in your current practice?
Next to none in actual practice; it’s not needed at all. A small bit online: creating memes for Fun Friday is an example. I’m happy to have the tool then. I tend to avoid it when I actually have to think about something. Better to think.
Vacuuming. It’s one of the things I really can’t do anymore and it’s so difficult.
Nope, not for me.
Tail! Especially if it was a prehensile cat tail! So cool!
Songbirds. I mean, for all I know, they’re bitching about there being no seed, but they sound so happy! Plus, Bluebird of Happiness.
Not much, I think. I have no idea how to do it, and most of my YouTube stuff is real. With the exception of some goth and Celtic music. Now I do like the AI answers Google gives you, but I don’t depend on them. I just like reading the overview before I get into the links.
Very true! Good choice!
Sally said if I were a nudist, there would be no laundry. And then I pointed out we’d use more towels and sheets.
First I was thinking “why would I put a lion in my pocket”, but then I imagined a scenario where I might need a convenient way to get one out of the way, and knowing my easily distractable nature I could forget I put it there, so… that could absolutely happen!
Running the sink disposal. It vibrates. I don’t handle well anything that vibrates.
Seeking outdates every 6 months is a hard chore because I feel guilty when I have to remove foods I could have been eating.
Sweeping only distracts me when I’m overwhelmed enough in the first place that I don’t know where to start. Bird is such a messy eater, and I end up walking in it and dragging it all over.
The hardest is weatherizing once a year. I run out of energy too quickly. Can’t tell when the weather will make it impossible to finish. Thus, I often start too early and then cannot open a window for fresh air on a few of those last nice days before the weather changes.
California Black: easy to access, decently priced, goes with what I cook. When I can get the sliced ones, they go from can to dish without a fuss, but when I have to cut them, I end up watching a video at the same time so I don’t have to think much.
We already have a third eye!
All that’s left of our tails is vestigial. There’s probably a reason for that.
The young of any species really know how to play in ways their elders have lost.
Only what I find in use here on the forum, as far as I can tell. I guess I do use it when I look up things like definitions or population counts, once in a blue moon. I’d rather use a real dictionary, though.
Probably part of the reason my books are in Sacred Space, here.
Dusting!! It never ends! You dust and an hour later it’s back! Hate it! And having two sheddy furbabies doesn’t help!
I absolutely love, love, love olives! I have no favorite. I love them all!!
I think I would love to have a tail. I could decorate it and it would be very helpful if I needed to whack someone lol. A third eye would be too much. I already have 4 as it is. I’m blinder than a bat without my spectacles on!
Cats!!! And wolves. And dolphins. And elephants. And turtles. And dragons! LOL.
I’d say I use about 30% AI. For images, my card decks, assists with readings sometimes. I use it for a lot of my other projects. Right now, I’m working on a home physical therapy and diet plan to complement my 2 physical therapy sessions a week outside the house. It’s a great tool as long as you know how to use it and be smart, safe.
I will catch up on everything else tomorrow. It’s been a rough week, and I just want to cozy up with my phone and color. Have a cup of tea. Sweet dreams ya’ll!
Cleaning and vacuuming the floors. Keeping up with the cat litter, that gets tracked all over the house is a never ending cycle. By the time I’m done, even though I’m indoors with the air conditioning on, I’m dripping with sweat.
Do you like olives?
Not at all, I pick them off pizzas and out of salads.
Would you rather have a tail or a third eye?
Can’t say this is something I have ever given any thought to, but I’ll go with tail, it could come in handy, but there’s probably a reason we don’t have them.
What animal best represents joy to you?
Pretty much any baby animal, but I’m especially in love with the baby pandas I saw on a video recently. They were adorable.
How much AI do you use in your current practice?
I use it quite a bit, I’ll admit. Such as - I have used it to compile a list of questions to ask when I am drawing daily runes. I’ve also used it when I have been stuck and unable to connect the tarot card I drew with the question of the day. Although I’m finding now that I don’t have to do that quite as often as I’m getting more familiar with the cards and their meanings. And I have used it to refine a ritual or prayer I have written, and put it into more coherent sentences.
Me too, sis! My uncle in Oregon isn’t doing well mentally. His wife, my aunt for almost 50 years just passed last week and he had a breakdown and tried “you know".” Mental health issues run strongly through my mom’s side of the family. We all have one thing or another to contend with unfortunately. So, I’ve been grieving and that’s triggered the good old depression of mine. Plus, physical therapy is kicking my butt, but I know I have to do it no matter how much I whine and the chaos in the world has my empathetic Spidey senses all over the darn place. So, I’m being very mindful of taking care of myself. I apologize all if my attendance and participation is spotty for a little while. I’ll be in and out I promise.
I hear you on this! We decided to get away from the “extra light-weight” stuff because it was tracking everywhere, and the spread has improved. But still requires a handy vacuum daily!
Our girls were indoor-outdoor when we lived in Georgia, and the litterbox was just an occasional thing, mainly brought out when we went on vacation. But here in the Frozen Tundra, they have no choice in the winter. Another reason to be happy when it warms up so some of their business can be done outdoors!
That sounds so sweet! Who doesn’t love a baby panda? They’re so special!
The daily divination questions can be challenging, no matter what you’re doing! This is when I seem to encounter the most AI.
That’s wonderful. There’s always a learning curve.
Oh, that’s a heavy week! I’m so sorry about your aunt, and your uncle’s grief. It takes a toll on everyone.
It’s really hard to do it - they discharged me last summer with a 5-page printout of stuff to do, and the worst is that my orthopedic (who sent me to PT) said I shouldn’t be doing some of it when I outlined some of the exercises! It’s hard to get through this stuff.
I’m happy you’re taking care and being mindful. You know yourself and your body. No apologies needed, sis, I just want things to slow down for you so can catch your breath. It’s been a wild couple of weeks from the sound of it.
I don’t know how I missed a week hello to all, hope you’re well, I do love reading all of your responses
Last year I cancelled Christmas for everyone else and focused on Christmas for K and I, and it was the calmest Christmas I’ve ever had!
I have one “New Year’s Resolution” each year because I don’t see the point of setting goals in January just to drop them by February my resolution is to do one thing each day to make myself smile. I figured life will throw its share of frowns, so I need to balance things out.
I would love to speak every human language, always thought that would be awesome to talk to anyone in any language… imagine what you could learn!
Favourite music is a hard one… depends on the mood really. Any music which makes me feel good inside, whatever genre it may be.
2025 was a challenge after a war after a thunderstorm. But I learned a lot.
I bought some sets from Temu for those quiet, peaceful moments. Haven’t finished yet but they look like this
I like Linctus, and we used to try and drink this teething syrup whenever we could, it was probably discontinued because of it’saddictive properties
I’m not good with Frisbees, but I can skim a rock across a lake pretty good… as Dan says, it is indeed all in the wrists!
Ketchup is for any and everything you like. It rocks. Hash browns, bacon, sausage, egg, chips, sandwiches… there are very few things ketchup can’t improve lol.
The Wheel of Time. I’m still seething that they cancelled that show.
Always put it back - I used to park close to the entrance and a trolley stand to make the journey back shorter lol.
I would be a Secretary Bird, they have eyelashes to die for and a diva-like stance
Mild cheese all the time, except for spaghetti bolognese cause then it’s mature or traditional.
Honestly I’m not that bothered, as long as I can spread it and it doesn’t taste rank.
Depends, but I think I prefer the solitude of introvert at this time in my life, extrovert exerts a lot of energy and energy is precious!
All of it. Like everything else these days, toothpaste ain’t cheap!
Falcor!!! My mini 3D printed Falcor is a treasure to me
Winged horse, I’m with Trace and going with Pegasus.
I’d rather have wings so I could fly in and out of anywhere including at least one bank vault which belongs to bad guys.
No. Smaug was THE ahole of aholes.
~puts on ninja outfit~ let’s go mama needs a new wardrobe!
I have a love hate relationship with chores; hate doing them, but love the way the cleaning is sometimes therapeutic, and of course when everything looks sparkly and pretty it’s rather satisfying.
No. Olives are not for me. They look like eyeballs.
Maybe a tail for balance, as I get older I assume balance will soon be an issue hahaha
What animal best represents joy… Pikachu!! And kittens lol.
I use no AI in my practice, never have and I never intend to. I feel bad enough using it this past week to create pictures, the spirit of John Connor knows and he is so not impressed! But in my defence, my stick people are deformed so I had to swallow my prejudices and use AI. Not gonna lie, I love the pics. Damn machines.
Love that photo. Not sure I want to be one but I agree on the presence it has. Also, those jar sets are beautiful!
Good to see you here! I miss your ‘love and sparkles’ comments.
Vacuuming for us is dog hair removal. We do it daily. Our current doggo is a veritable loose dog hair factory. If she sees one of us with dark/black clothing she has to rub up against us. The SO likes to wear darker clothes when she does her Mah Jongg (twice a week) so she shuts the door to the bedroom, dresses, and then makes a mad dash to the garage yelling ‘Stay Away’. Sometimes it works.
Hiiiiiiiiiii lovely to see you too, I do hate to type and fly but lately my intentions are irrelevant, lots going on with K atm so me time is more sparse than before lol! And don’t get me started on those days when I come back from the school run and literally just conk out then wake up in zombie mode for the rest of the day; she wakes at least once nearly every night for water then goes back to sleep leaving me awake of course. Speaking of which, I have a course which starts shortly (nothing exciting lol), I’ve just got back from errands and I want to breatheeeeeee
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude good to see you too, honestly I have missed y’all, I am hoping life will settle down very soon and I’ll be around!
Lots and lots and lots of love, hugs and sparkles (plus emojis just for Dan)
Happy Friday, lovelies! It’s that time of the week again - can you believe that we’re already at the end of January? Spring is ever closer!
Here are this week’s questions:
It’s the final Friday of January - how’s your New Year shaping up so far?
If you lived underwater, what kind of creature would you be?
What was the last book you read? (Any type!)
What’s your favorite fairy tale?
Imbolc is this weekend! Do you have anything special planned?
I’ll answer now while time permits.
~1. So far, my New Year is coming along nicely. I’m gripping a little over world events, and a little over watching my mom get ever older. It’s been incredibly C.O.L.D. in my part of the world, with lots of snow! But it has driven me into the kitchen, which is one of my favorite places to be. I’ve cooked up lots of soup, a few stews, and done some baking (to keep the oven hot!). All of that is very positive. Bring on the Spring!
~2. I’d be a mermaid! Free to swim about and have my own special community, but able to get out of the water and feel the sunshine, too.
~3. I recently finished Equal Rites, by Terry Pratchett. I’ve never read anything by him before, and he is pretty funny. It has witches and wizards and fantasy in it, which is kind of a switch for me, but overall it was cute. I’ve switched up completely and am reading Case Histories by Kate Atkinson now - I like to bob and weave with my reading.
~4. I read them all as a kid, it’s hard to think of a favorite. More like, what one might have left a lasting impression, which is probably a tossup between The Three Little Pigs and Cinderella. The Three Little Pigs was an obvious disguised lecture on the virtues of working just a little harder to get the best situation for yourself. I guess it spoke to the Capricorn in Young Feathertip. Cinderella, because why not dream of just escaping the drudgery of housework and mean stepsisters to go live in a castle and become a princess? But you always know that’s a fairy tale.
~5. I’m looking forward to Imbolc! This is my first time celebrating. I want to honor the associated colors, foods, etc. I’ll wear my yellow sweater for sunshine, make some roasted butternut squash/potato soup for Sunday’s dinner, bake a quick bread if energy allows, and definitely have some candles going. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the turn of the calendar and to think Spring!
It’s the final Friday of January - how’s your New Year shaping up so far?
Very well. January has been great. I’m looking forward to more of the same. Of course the cold snap was ugly but I got a lot done around the house.
If you lived underwater, what kind of creature would you be?
A moray eel. When we were in Florida, I did a lot of diving and Morays scare the crap out of me. They have tiny brains and are really grumpy. We have a lot in common
Google photo - This is a Giant Moray - I have done sword fights with these. (my sword is a spear gun - not to kill but bat them off)
What was the last book you read? (Any type!)
“The Wizard’s Butler” by Nathan Lowell. A paranormal book that was more fiction than paranormal. It was very well written.
What’s your favorite fairy tale?
I guess I would pick Fantasia (if that counts). For a song, I would pick Fairy Tale of New York.
Imbolc is this weekend! Do you have anything special planned?
Yep. Burn a candle, meditate, celebrate new life..
January has been both beautiful and ugly. I’ve enjoyed spending more time in the coven and getting back into practice and divination. Not too happy that my health issues continue with new diagnoses added but it is what it is. I adapt as I go! My disposition is too sunny to be kept down for long at any given time lol.
I would be a sea turtle!! They have been swimming our oceans for over 100 million years and can migrate across thousands of miles! They are so amazing that they can find the very beach they were born on when the time comes to have their own young! They help keep the ecosystems balanced and connect people to conservation. They are resilient and gentle, calm solitary creatures. I love, love them!
I cannot remember the last book I read all the way through lol. I like to read many books at once since as I’ve gotten older, my attention span has shortened. I’m able to remember where I left off so having variety really is the spice of life! I am going to attempt starting with the new session of the Book Club to read “Women Who Run with the Wolves” by Ms. Pinkola Estes, Ph.D all the way through no matter how many months it takes me!
I love a lot of fairy tales so it’s hard to pick a favorite. Even though it’s not one of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Peter Pan has always landed high on my list. As has Cinderella. I mean what little girl hasn’t dreamed of being a princess lol!
For Imbolc, I have two rituals planned. One to begin the day and one to end. I’ll set out a new jar of water for the full moon and enjoy coloring an Imbolc picture for my BoS. Keep it quiet and gentle. An easy day.
