What is your favorite bridge? How come?
The one I got when I knocked my front tooth out? (one meaning) or Bridge to Terabithia - a greatish fantasy film that I quoted when our HR rep (name spelled the same) gave us a hard time and I told everyone they needed to build a bridge. (Second Meaning) Or The Tacoma Narrows bridge which had those cool dance moves? (third meaning) -
What’s your comfort movie or show?
Four Weddings and a Funeral. Only I always thought of it as a sad ending - he could have had the rich woman (Fiona - Kristin Scott Thomas) who was without a doubt the prettiest and most in love with him… and likeliest to be a faithful, level headed, intelligent and loving spouse. Instead he chose the one who had already proven she was unfaithful. Did I mention Fiona was good looking? Also the Auden poem at the funeral was a tear jerker for sure. “Stop all the clocks”. (sniff…) -
What are your pet peeves?
Cell phones at dinner time, Network news (all of them), late night commercials -
Do you dread going to the dentist?
Yes. I secretly suspect my dentist is an alien. She came back to work three days after having a baby and smiled the whole time I was in the chair. That just ain’t right. -
Do you like podcasts? If yes, what do you like?
Nope. I dislike talking heads and jabbering to fill up a time space. Maybe I haven’t found one I like.
That’s a lovely way to put it!
I’m with you on this- not just limited to pizza places, but any small locally owned place getting bought out. Quality usually goes down.
Wow! It’s never been a spa day for me- you must have very healthy dental habits!
![]()
I forgot that this was done! It must be so cool to see it and consider how old it is. I’m sure it’s a beautiful sight!
I loved that show! Never seen any of the movies or other spin-offs, but they have a reputation for being very good. I love historical fiction, especially when it’s well done and historically accurate like DA is.
You’re very lucky! ![]()
Uh, I think I was wondering about a favorite standing bridge - one that acts as a connection between two places over a deep gap or water. Preferably not collapsed, or with people’s heads on a pike!
Gosh - it’s been years since I saw this one! I only remember that I thought it was really good. ![]()
An alien or someone incredibly resilient! That’s a pretty quick return to work! ![]()
I guess I have to vote for my local bridge, the New River Gorge Bridge. 876 feet high, 3,030 feet long, and one day a year, they shut down the interstate so people can jump off of it. Bungee cords and parachutes. Fun. I live about five minutes away from it? Maybe a bit longer in traffic. But yeah, I don’t go out on Bridge Day. Too many people.
Law and Order. The original series, the first twenty years. I love Logan and Briscoe, and Jack McCoy. And Ed Green.
I know I have one, but I can’t think of anything right now. Other than people being judgmental, rude, and bigoted. But I don’t think of that as a pet peeve so much as I hate to see people downtrodden and I root for the underdog.
YES! You don’t even want to know.
Mythology, cryptids, ghost stories. Stuff like that. Although some of my podcasts on YouTube have turned into videos with AI. Bigfoot and the Wendigo almost look real in a few!
I hope there was something left in the store! It got bad out here really early today. Sally left over an hour and a half early and still had problems getting home!
Yeah, the Pizza Hut of today is nothing like the Pizza Hut of the 80s.
Huh. I did not know that! Cool!
Yeah, that’s just wrong. Maybe she’s related to the dentist from Little Shop of Horrors or something.
Favorite bridge?! I dislike bridges with a passion. Height phobia plus driving a car and a splash of anxiety/panic does not equal happiness and joy! We have two here in the city I live in. We are a port city, and we have two that are interconnected over the port. One is quite new and isn’t so bad as it is a giant slab of lifted concrete. The other is more than 60 years old and made of metal and narrow lanes. No matter how many times I go over it, my heart freezes.
I am not a huge TV or movie watcher. Really never have been. I love a good movie now and then, but TV sitcoms never keep my attention. I find more comfort in books and music.
I hate people who cannot drive in California. I will admit I do at times submit to road rage lol. I hate slurping! My sister loves to drive me crazy with it when she drinks hot chocolate. Attention seekers drive me up the wall. I could probably list 50 more lol but those three are the ones that come to mind at this moment.
I hate the dentist and cannot afford to pay those bank robbers! I go when an emergency occurs and I can no longer ignore the pain.
I do not like to listen to podcasts. My attention will drift quite fast. I love my squirrel moments lol. I prefer to watch video versions of podcasts on YouTube. I follow a lot of true crime and wrestling podcasts. (Yes, I am a hardcore WWE fan lol. Since the 80’s.)
Sister, I am always amazed at how your brain works! Very interesting questions!
Tower Bridge in London - there’s nothing like it.
Eric and I are really enjoying Brokenwood Mysteries at the moment. The characters are so quirky, and the scenery is beautiful.
Loud cell phone conversations in public places
Yup - nuff said
I’ve never really got in to podcasts.
1.What is your favorite bridge? How come?
Mmm. I don’t have a favourite one, I like devils bridge though in carnforth England, it said to date back to the 13th century.Legend has it that the Devil appeared to an old woman, and promised to build a bridge in exchange for the first soul to cross over it. It is said that when the bridge was finished, the woman threw bread over the bridge and her dog chased over it, thereby outwitting the Devil (info from the internet). I went here did a ritual ![]()
2.What’s your comfort movie or show?
Meet Joe black. I love this film. I was drawn to it when I first watched it.
3.What are your pet peeves?
Chewing loudly…oh my gosh it is so annoying! It gets me annoyed
. repetitive tapping! Know it alls!. Not putting the toilet seat down! Not picking up after your dog! Like wtf!
4.Do you dread going to the dentist?
Nope
5.Do you like podcasts? If yes, what do you like?
Not really into podcast
Nope. I learned early on to keep my voice silent and just breathe the laughing gas- also known as a form of truth serum. I also wondered about the idea of dental work being a spa day. Maybe I feel so relieved when it’s over that I ignore the other forms of discomfort.
Would Vincent Price’s vocal bridge in Michael Jackson’s Thriller be a fourth meaning? And how dost one bridge the variety of topics in Fun Friday?
Wow - this is one awesome bridge! I love the picture showing the fog around it. Gorgeous. You couldn’t pay me enough to bungee jump off it, though! ![]()
I never saw this show, and feel like I missed something good - I only hear positive things about it.
![]()
I’m glad she got out of there in time - a mess out there today. We got lucky because it just didn’t get as nasty as predicted. All they did was scare us to death with warnings.
Oh, Sister, I’m sorry! I have a cousin who shares this phobia with you - absolutely hates going across a tall massive bridge. ![]()
I can almost hear it!
I aim to please, love! ![]()
Hear, hear Jayne! We didn’t get tour tickets when we were in London this past summer, just admired it from a distance. I agree, it’s drop dead gorgeous!
Sounds interesting - love a good mystery. Thanks for the tip!
Uh oh…! ![]()
I looked it up - this is a beautiful old bridge, and looks incredible given its age! What a great story behind it.
This is a great list! I can relate to all of this!
How, indeed? ![]()
Yeah, but poor dog! Couldn’t she have thrown like, a barrel of beer over and some drunk idiot would have chased it?
Yeah, it’s beautiful! You can even walk across on the underside if you want.
I love it! It’s a police/lawyer procedural show. No relationships, no who is sleeping with whom. Just someone died, and they’ve got to figure it out and get them convicted. And for the most part, they’re all an hour long. It started in the early 90s, and it’s still on today. So you go from them making calls in phone booths, to those big clunky phones, to flip phones. I haven’t watched the new ones; I couldn’t get into it as well. But I’m sure they have smartphones now!
There were wrecks up the wazoo here yesterday. I’m glad I don’t have to go out!
Happy Fun Friday Silly Saturday! ![]()
There’s a nice bridge over a small lake in eastern Finland with fun memories attached to it, you can go down from the road to its banks, and there’s a small peninsula that’s perfect for camping
Last time I was there I enjoyed some clothes-free swimming and sunbathing, and waved at the passing boats ![]()
Recently I’ve been enjoying Steven Universe
It’s just such a sweet, carefree and heartwarming show ![]()
I have sensory sensitivities, especially noises get me, especially when I haven’t had enough sleep. But then, that’s the kind of state that makes me peeved by just about anything
I try not to dwell on things too much, giving them energy by making them my enemy number one.
I’ve had my share of root canals and extractions, so it’s not that scary anymore
And I’ve found out that I kinda like pain
So at least for smaller things, I don’t need an anesthetic, I just sit there and enjoy ![]()
Sometimes ![]()
I don’t have anything I’m actively listening to right now, I used to listen to the Sleep Over Podcast by Carolyn Elliott et al, of the Existential Kink fame, until they got way too Christian for my tastes. There was a fun Finnish podcast by two dominatrixes, that sadly ended after two seasons. There’s a German one called “Eine Stunde Liebe” (One Hour or Love), that I sometimes listen to, to train my understanding of the language. It’s about love, sex and relationships. There’s a few about psychedelics that I still want to check out at some point. I guess I like my podcasts like I like many other things too, kinda spicy
![]()
I can totally imagine you having such naughty fun!
It sounds like a beautiful area!
Oh, I didn’t know this - that’s got to be a tough situation, because it’s not obvious to the casual observer. I don’t blame you for being peeved!
You’re a spicy kind of girl. A hot tamale!
![]()
I’m blessed to live near it at my second home ![]()
Where can I find the posts for Fun Friday please and thank you?
- What’s your most hated household chore? How come?
Mine would be folding laundry. It is just so much with a house of 4. lol - Do you like olives? If so, what’s your favorite kind?
I love olives but it has to be the black ones - Would you rather have a tail or a third eye?
*I think for myself I would have to say a third eye so I can see more - What animal best represents joy to you? I think the animal would be a Bear because im very protective of my children and friends
- How much AI do you use in your current practice?
- Im not sure if I do at this moment
Welcome, @michele12 ! I’m glad you found all the other questions and posts. ![]()
Agree 100% - and I only have a household of two these days! Laundry - bah!
I like this answer - our inner Mama bears do come out sometimes, don’t they? ![]()
Maybe you’ve been able to do just fine without it. There are a lot of programs out there, and you’d probably know if you were searching some of them for help with anything. ![]()
Shout out to the stone bridges in Arches National Park! Carved by wind, some are so thin they can cut. Others are wide enough to walk on.
Hi de Hi fellow Mystics!
Fave bridge - errrrrm, I don’t know if it has a name! In our teens we used to go somewhere called Canary Wharf in London, and there was a bridge you had to cross to get to some of the restaurants across the way, and it was beautiful. At night it would light up like Tower Bridge but it was… sleeker. Many a teenage kiss happened on that bridge!
Comfort Movie - Remember the Titans. It is an epic tale of the reality many would rather forget, but it’s beautifully told, kind of like The Blind Side. Comfort show is probably Friends, that program got me through many a dark time in the 90s!
Pet Peeves - Rudeness, people who don’t listen then complain when the thing you predicted comes true, apologising for crying, the loss of Woolworths but knowing it exists elsewhere, politics, the human need to put everything and everyone in a box… I could go on but we do not have the time lol!
Yes I dread going to the dentist. Those humans aren’t normal humans like the rest of us - no offense.
Not really a fan of podcasts, isn’t it really another name for a radio show? I was a guest speaker on one once for Mind, and I’ve still never heard it lol.
It was awesome! My fave was Law and Order SVU, the last few seasons are currently on Disney Plus
but @Amethyst is right, the first twenty years are the best for that L&O.
Okay back to responsibilities - love, hugs and sparkles to all!
x Blessed Be x
That’s a brilliant shout-out, @georgia! Our natural bridges are priceless, etched by time.
I peeked elsewhere, and there are several bridges over Canary Wharf, including a couple of foot bridges. They sound beautiful and romantic!
I haven’t seen one in years - but growing up they were all over the place! Probably all pushed aside to make room for the bigger chainstores. ![]()
How cool!! You should try to pull it up sometime. Although most of us don’t like how our voices sound, I know. ![]()
Always fabulous to see you, Nikki! Love
hugs
and sparkles
right back at you!
