That’s exactly what happened to my mom. She took one small bookcase and a few favorites, left herself a little room for more - but gave away most of her books and switched to Kindle. She swears by it now.
It’s amazing how many of us don’t want to be a mind reader. Welcome to the club!

What superpower would you NOT want?
I think I’m with everyone else on this – I would not like to eavesdrop on other people’s thoughts all the time. Maybe if there was a on/off switch… -
Do you have a favorite color? What is it?
Being a nature witch, I’m drawn to greens of all sorts, I find it very soothing – but I don’t ever wear green. The color just doesn’t look good on me. -
You just finished dinner, folded your napkin and pushed back from the table and declared: “That was the best meal I ever had!” What did you have?
Hard to choose - I could go back to my English roots and opt for roast beef, roast potatoes, veggies, yorkshires and gravy, or go Texan and opt for slice BBQ brisket and sliced links with all the fixings, or Mexican. Can’t go wrong with mexican - fajitas, rice, refried beans.. yummmm. Now I’m hungry. -
Do you like to sing in the shower? If so, what’s your personal best?
No I don’t sing in the shower at all. I do randomly hum to myself throughout the day though. -
What’s your favorite smell? Don’t worry, no one will judge.
My current favorite fragrance oil is called hickory and suede. It’s delicious, warm, musky and earthy. I love it.
I bet that smells great!
Isn’t it funny how we’re all basically saying the same thing? Kind of “No, and HECK no!” ![]()
Oh, you have me remembering a couple of our favorite places in Texas! Yum yum!!
That sounds so intriguing - what a combination!
- I wouldn’t want to be able to read people’s minds. Just rude and intrusive in my opinion, plus I wouldn’t want to hear bad thoughts directed at me.
- My favorite color is purple. More like a lavender though. Probably due to watching The Last Unicorn ever since I was a toddler.
- Pizza lol. It’s honestly hard to choose, I love way too many foods. But I am a child of the 80s and I can’t go wrong with pizza!
- I absolutely love to sing in the shower. I make up songs on the fly sometimes. I just really sing whatever is on my mind. I wouldn’t consider anything my personal best lol.
- Um…. I guess this is contextual, but for a scent I would wear, I love rose. House scents, I love bakery type things. Hm, I guess fresh cookies or fresh bread is my all time favorite. Yes, fresh bread. (You just bore witness to how my mind works lol!)

I hope it wasn’t too late to hop in on this. I lost the habit of checking in here and I’ve been struggling to pop in.

As much as it mught be cool, I don’t want to read my minds. I feel like I won’t like what I would hear.
My favorite color now and forever is purple.![]()
Any spanish food that was cooked by my mother. I’ve never been disappointed by her Spanish cooking.
I’m more of a hummer. But, I’ll be humming what ever song stuck to me that day.
I love lavender
, but I also love the smell of fresh cut grass. My other smell is simply freshly washed clothes that are drying in the air.
I see we have a couple more on the “no mind-reading” team! And for basically the same reasons! ![]()
Also two more votes for the color purple! ![]()
I agree - how can you argue with a fabulous pizza, especially with all your favorite toppings? ![]()
This makes me so happy!
It’s never too late to join in! The door is always open here. Pick any questions you want, too! Doesnt have to be the most recent set. Have fun with it!
Oh, Spanish food can be so good!
Sounds like your mother knows what she’s doing in the kitchen.
I get those ear worms, too, that just stay with me until I hum or sing them away. ![]()
Oh - of course! One of the best smells ever, makes you breathe it in deeply! ![]()
I’m fashionably late! My apologies!

- Superpower I do not want? Hmmm… I think I would not like to shapeshift. It always seems so painful to me when I read fantasy books. I’d rather be invisible! The trouble I could cause lol!
- Blue has always been my favorite color since I was young. It is so very peaceful and calming to me. I have a colored light in my bedroom lamp and every night I set it to blue and turn on ocean waves or forest sounds.
- Lately, I’ve been craving my mom’s homemade spaghetti sauce so if someone put that in front of me right now, it would definitely be “the best meal I ever had!”
- I will admit I’ve been a bit of a popstar in the shower lol! I love Adele’s “Easy on Me” and I find I sound so much better in the shower instead of the car lol!

- My favorite smells? I absolutely love vanilla, coconut, and lavender!
You can have the skunk family taking refuge under my house! They love to send their perfume up the broken floor heater whenever they’re cranky! Drives me nuts lol!
Yesssssss!!!
Ooo, I haven’t thought about shapeshifting! I guess I’ve given no thought to whether or not that would be painful but it seems likely.
I find blues very peaceful, too. ![]()
It’s all about the acoustics, right? ![]()
Of course the fan spreads it all over the house. Too close! So sorry. Wish we could lure them out and seal their entryway. They do eat pests and repel the unwanted. Imagine the scent as a ball of light and send it to the source of negativity? I did something similar when the complex refused to fix the sewer outside my apartment: sent it to the office. It took them all summer, but they finally fixed it- just before my housing inspection.
Trivia: some Native American tribes believed that skunk totems attracted what was similar to those who held the totem. Perhaps use the energy to redefine family values?
It’s Friday, lovelies! Time for another round of silly fun. ![]()

On any given day, how many pigeons do you think you could carry at once?
Memory: For some reason, what comes to mind first is such a tiny one…kind of insignificant, but it has stayed with me all this time. Right before heading back to school for the new school year, my mom took my siblings and me, along with some neighborhood kids, out to the beach at a lake for a last-day-of-summer fun time. The water was still pretty warm, and we swam and ran around and yelled and had a great time. Later, after we’d burned off a lot of energy, I remember just wading at the water’s edge with my best friend. I looked out over the water and the sun was starting to lower in the sky, casting these beautiful rays that sparkled over the lake. I had a strong feeling of serenity and peace - no “day before school” jitters at all. Just serenity. I think I am recalling this because it might be the first time I experienced any peaceful emotional depth like this. It left a mark on me.
I’m torn between signing up for an art class, a history class, or literature. The art class would probably win. Break out the paint! ![]()
I’d try my hand with an acoustic guitar. I took piano lessons when I was young and it really didn’t go very well. ![]()
I liked Jonny Quest! If anyone remembers that show. He got to ride in a private jet with his father, the scientist, and his father’s cool friend, pilot/bodyguard Race - and his own best friend, Hadji. Together with their little pug, Bandit, they go around the world and do…whatever. Jonny Quest gets to ride like he’s surfing on top of a camel, fight off giant alien spiders, as well as get chased by a mummy. There are no female characters in this cartoon; apparently such adventures are for men and boys only. If it were run these days, things might look different. ![]()
I could easily carry at least one pigeon on each shoulder, not sure I’d want one on my head, and I’m thinking 2 would fit on extended arms plus perched on each hand. That would be 8 pigeons - at a minimum! (I’m not thinking about bagging the critters.) I could extend this number if I put one on my head, but something tells me I’d regret this.
-
What is your favorite memory?
Not necessarily my favorite memory, but one that jumped to the front of my mind when I read the question. Back when I still lived in the UK, we used to come over as a family to visit my aunt and uncle who lived in Michigan at the time. I remember a week spent at a place called Loon Lake, in a cabin right on the lake, with a floating dock out on the water, that we would swim out to and lounge on like a bunch of sea lions, the boys all showing off by dive bombing the water and splashing us girls. -
What class would you like to take just for the heck of it? Why?
I love doing online painting classes - mixed media, watercolor, you name it. I actually have some that I purchased and haven’t got around to doing yet. I need to step up my game! -
If you could easily learn any musical instrument, what would it be? Why that one?
I tried to learn acoustic guitar as a teen, and failed. I remember being impressed by my first husband’s ability to pick up a guitar and play a recognizable tune on it (other boyfriends never got beyond tuning the guitar) -
What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?
Any of the Looney Tunes. Oh, and Tom and Jerry. -
On any given day, how many pigeons do you think you could carry at once?
The question isn’t “how many” but “why??” LOL. But, when you look at them on telephone lines etc., they cozy up pretty close to each other, so I could probably get five or six on each arm, from shoulder to hand. But again, why would I want to do that?
Not fashionably but maybe typically late. Here we go.
-
What superpower would you NOT want?
Immortality. -
Do you have a favorite color? What is it?
Blue -
You just finished dinner, folded your napkin and pushed back from the table and declared: “That was the best meal I ever had!” What did you have?
This is situational. I once had canned ham and eggs (C Ration) in the jungle and it was fantastic. Another time I was invited to a banquet that had 20 tables sponsored by the most notable restaurants in town. It was like a huge buffet and all the food was 4 star. -
Do you like to sing in the shower? If so, what’s your personal best?
I like to sing while I am exercising. The dog runs away, the SO turns up the volume on the TV and the neighbors stop by to see if we need help with the fox that is in heat. -
What’s your favorite smell? Don’t worry, no one will judge.
Firework smoke. Once you have smelled the smoke, you will never again be free. (various attributions for that… John Adams, et al)
That sounds like such fun! I have no idea where it is.
But not for nothing is Michigan’s “the Water Wonderland.” That, and an exciting long plane trip, would definitely make some wonderful memories!
You know, I’ve never done one! I watch a lot of informal You Tube videos, but some aren’t very good. An actual class would be so much better.
Looney Tunes are classic!
So many characters. I remember Tom and Jerry, too!
Well, to beat me, for starters! I topped off at 8! ![]()
Oh my. I think you’re the first person to mention this! And yes…it’s kind of a death sentence all by itself, when you think about it. ![]()
This also implies that you’re okay with reading our minds. I’m not sure what to say about this, Good Sir! ![]()
The two scenarios are definitely different! When you’re hungry in the middle of a jungle, I would imagine those C rations were wonderful! ![]()
![]()
You mean, smoke from fireworks
or firewood? Firewood smoke is definitely a thing of beauty, especially outside like a bonfire. ![]()

- When I was a young child, my grandma would visit and wait for me to come home from kindergarten on the school bus. I was always happy to see her because she gave me all her attention unlike the other adults in my life. She had the patience of a saint I swear! My absolute favorite memory is lying on the couch with her right after school and she would rub my feet. It always felt so good and she had the softest touch. Just thinking about it makes me smile and get teary eyed. There have been so many times in my life I wish I had those moments back!
- I would love to take a nutrition course! I love food and learning all about healthy ways to live. For the last few years, my daughter and I have dabbled in plant-based eating.
- I’ve always wanted to learn the flute and the piano because I love the way they sound.
- Oh my! I loved so many different cartoons when I was young! I would say my favorites were Scooby Doo and Reading Rainbow.
- I don’t see many pigeons around my home or neighborhood, but we do have a lot of sparrows! I could probably carry about 20 of those lol! Pigeons can be aggressive! I’d probably run from them. We have a lot of seagulls too since I live close to the ocean!
Great! I feel like I just did one!

What is your favorite memory?
The SO saying yes. -
What class would you like to take just for the heck of it? Why?
I took a LOT of classes for the heck of it. From welding to Abnormal Psychology - I could go to school (academic or skills) full time and be happy. My EE stuff has many perishable subjects (chip design, programming techniques, etc) so I would probably keep on that trail. -
If you could easily learn any musical instrument, what would it be? Why that one?
Guitar - I can play chords but after that, I’m not good at all. -
What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?
Bugs Bunny and crew… always. -
On any given day, how many pigeons do you think you could carry at once?
Live pigeons would be 2 since I wouldn’t want to squish one. Cheating with something to carry them in and the number would go up a lot. If you want to have fun, ask an AI this question! Mine gave me a literal answer and then took a dive into a poetic/mythic route.
