Fun Friday (Part 3)

Hi everyone! This is my first time participating in Fun Friday and I’m looking forward to it.

I don’t have any spells, but I do like to make moon water during a new moon and of course just sit outside and look at the moon. I’m still working on my craft so hopefully I’ll be able to add more to it soon.
I don’t have a favorite movie, but my favorite genre would be mystery, I love a good mystery!

I love watching the rain. I live in the Midwest and we had some crazy storms, I sat on the porch last night and just watched it rain and it was so peaceful.
June has been good to me. A peaceful month with no complaints. I’m looking forward to July and the upcoming Holiday.

I don’t have any specific spells that I do on the New Moon, but I look on it as a time to set new intentions, and to release that which no longer serves me.
Eric and I have several movies on DVD that we watch every now and then - specifically the Star Trek movies - Star Trek, Star Trek - Into Darkness, Star Trek - Beyond. We are also both great LOTR fans, although it’s been a while since we watched any of them – perhaps now is the time! But more than movies, we both enjoy watching British TV mysteries, on Acorn, or Britbox or some other streaming service.
I love popcorn anyway it comes - buttered, plain, caramel corn, I love them all.
It’s very peaceful watching a gentle rain, especially if the weather is mild enough to sit out on the covered patio and enjoy it. But what we usually get here in Texas is torrential downpours, with horizontal sheets of water coming down, so it’s best to stay indoors. I do like watching a good lightning show though.
June has been a bit off so far. We have a trip coming up to visit my dad in England in July, but there is the possibility we may have to cancel or postpone the trip as Eric has torn his meniscus and is in a lot of pain, and there really isn’t long enough before we go for him to have surgery and recuperate. So that’s all up in the air at the moment.

Do you have any magick spells or rituals that you like to practice during a New Moon? (Even taking advantage of the darker sky for stargazing is a ritual!)

Today (June 12th) is National Movie Night here in the US! This can be celebrated simply by thinking about making your own personal “movie night” bucket list.

I don’t have any spells for the moon but I am an inveterate moon watcher. I take “close ups” all the time by leaning out our top window.

Do you have a favorite movie - or a top 3? Or a favorite movie genre, with several favorites on the list? What are they?

I like action movies - a lot. Some are not mainstream and the SO shakes her head when they are on. Nobody, American Ultra, Battleship, Kelly’s Heroes, etc. The SO gets me back by rewatching An Affair to Remember (and all its versions).

Do you like popcorn (with or without a movie night!)? Buttered or plain?

Love it. Buttered is best. Don’t like sweetened or strange flavored.

Do you like watching the rain?

When it isn’t a torrent. Lately (it’s Spring) we’ve had lots of Thunder Bumpers and we’re mostly watching things fly around the yard and hoping the damage isn’t as bad as it looks.

We’re almost halfway through June already! How is your June shaping up so far?

Not well so far although we’re going out tonight for our Anniversary. The SO is taking a present (a trip) she was given last year and the daughters to Victoria to have High Tea. That will be next weekend. So June has a potential to be great. Lots of Mice are working hard to spoil it but we’re fighting back.

And yes, June is flying by. If it wasn’t for the upcoming stuff we would be asking for a Mulligan.

Not really, unfortunately.

Oh wow. I think The Stand from 1994 is my favorite Stephen King movie. Ghostbusters is my favorite action movie. Star Trek II is my favorite Sci-fi, closely tied with Star Wars: A New Hope. Much Ado About Nothing is my favorite rom-com. The 1993 version.

Batman 1989/Iron Man/Spider-Man 2 are my favorite superhero movies. I can’t decide! Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is my favorite action. Rear Window is my favorite mystery, while Seven is my favorite suspense. ET/Jurassic Park is my favorite Spielberg movie. Pacific Rim/Godzilla Minus One is my favorite kaiju movie. And while they’re not in a category, I love Deadpool and Wolverine, and Regarding Henry, Hamlet, and Trick R Treat.

I love movies! It was a big thing in my home growing up. We went to the movies a lot. I saw stuff I shouldn’t have at a young age, but that’s okay!

With. Jumbo bucket, triple butter. Of course!

Just don’t trip while walking down the aisle when you first get in the movie theater. It’s embarrassing!

If it’s a nice, gentle rain. Not the scary ones. But not for long. I tend to fall asleep.

Pretty good! It could be worse. My sleep has been doing weird still, but it’ll be okay.

Me too! I love Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie. And Hitchcock.

I’m a bad Trekkie. I haven’t watched much new Trek since Enterprise. And that includes the new movies. I’ve read fanfiction, but not seen the movies.

I’m surprised you didn’t say Homeward Bound. Dogs rule and cats drool!

There’s a moon? I was never that big on the moon. I guess that’s what comes of being born within a month of the first lunar landing.

My way of organizing movies probably doesn’t match any genre list, but …

These are the ones I’ve watched, but an looking to reorganize. Each file is split into other files to keep things organized. Of the 19 files, 8 have a “Favorites” file: Space, Philosophy, Musicals, Thriller-Crime (Probably the Hardy Boys/ Nancy Drew Mysteries before the girlfriend was destroyed), Swashbucklers, Psychology, Nature, and Halloween. That generally means I have more faves than I can list, here!

Oh, and that doesn’t include the keeper unicorn movies I have collected.

The movies in the “Reorganize” file are the watched ones I’m currently working with. The rest in this pic are unwatched and rather disorganized. I find myself watching about 3 movies a day.

I used to enjoy popcorn, both before and without a movie to watch. Buttered, please. My body cannot process starch, right now, so no corn. My bottom lip is on the floor right now.

There is nothing quite like sitting in the garage at Grandma’s house, watching the rain, smelling the sweet damp, and listening to the corn grow across the street, unless it was sitting on my balcony and watching the flood rush past in the drive, here in Albuquerque, while casting “Ship Come In” spells. Once in a while, the falling rain looks like flecks of gold or diamonds falling from the sky. Yet I do enjoy standing out in it all to see rainbows, anywhere!

In my youth, I was terrified of thunderstorms. Mom used to take me out to the A&W drive in so we could watch the lightening split the sky and drink root beer in a frosty mug.

I was never afraid of storms if I could see where the lightening was coming from and going, not even when it struck the roof of our apartment while we were in the car below. It blew out my mini TV, but it was still under warranty.

One strike lifted the hair off my neck and blasted my ears while I sat on my balcony. When the storm was over, I was headed out to catch a bus and found a locust tree across from my complex had been hit. I didn’t get on the bus! Instead, I reclaimed a broken and scratched limb to use for a walking stick for a while.

I even saw the strike which burned down a church along the way to work: told Mom we’d better leave early, and was underneath it when the cross fell off the steeple into the burning building. Mom had to take a different way home once she left me off because they closed the roads.

Many times, I have used a thunderstorm to recharge my energy. They are so rare here that I get a thrill. Even more often, I have asked storms to cleanse our land, our city, and the emotions of the people who live here.

Pleasantly. Time is still flying. The days I’m not running around like a chicken…, I sleep through so I have the energy to survive the next event. It felt really good to fill the freezer, Thursday.

Aww. I know how much you were looking forward to this last visit. Sending healing energies to Eric! Get well soon in a way which will keep you healthy and feeling good!

Wasn’t there a movie called Island of Dogs? I think so. That would work too!

I enjoyed Cats and Dogs and Revenge of Kitty Galore.

Happy to see you in here! I like mysteries too, even with a little extra suspense thrown in there. Popcorn is perfect “nibbling” food when you’re watching something intense, isn’t it?

It’s been wild and wet around here, too! Rain is soothing and calming minus the thunder and lightning. I’m happy your June is coming along peacefully. Blessings!

So much fun! I love them all, it’s fun to let time go by and then revisit. LOTR, too! It’s in its own category, I think.

I love British TV and Brit humor - I’m still too cheap to spring for the Britbox, though I keep hearing how much good stuff is available. I hate paying for all this TV when I’m old enough to remember when it was all free.

Oh no - I’m so sorry Eric’s had this injury! I sure hope it doesn’t mean a cancellation or postponement of the trip, but of course he deserves to be pain-free before taking on the long flight and everything beyond. Fingers crossed it works out!

But, but… it’s Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr!!! (At least the classic version.) They’re awesome!

I don’t mind a good action flick but I get the feeling you just might go outside mainstream and they might lean right into some bits of cheese, with explosions. AM I right?

eeek! Yes, this Spring has brought its share of thunderstorms. I don’t like looking out and seeing flying debris, either! All you can think about is the next day’s cleanup.

Me too! I remember being in the back of the family station wagon at the drive-in with grown-up stuff going on, sometimes scary, and I think they used to hope we’d just fall asleep back there (my old sister, brother and I).

Great line-up of favorites there! Movies are so fun.

Yeah, too late. Been there…cleaned up the popcorn. Crawled away…

It’s the best way to doze off! Love napping with a gentle rain in the background.

I hope you get it straightened out so you can get through the night peacefully.

Wow! You keep a very organized list - should make everything easy to find. 3 movies a day makes you a bit of a connoisseur, right?

I hope your body allows you some corn again, very soon! Maybe in moderation you could sneak in a little here and there.

Try the movie Nobody. It has crazy layers you aren’t expecting and lots of explosions and gunfights. At the heart it is about family but not cloyingly so. It stars Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Sol). There was a sequel but like may sequels, it was not nearly as good.

We definitely like films, we have Sky Movies, included is Paramount Movies, Netflix and Amazon Prime so many films to choose from. We tend to go through and decide between us what we feel like and the time of year plays a factor. I have not put down any for December as the list could be long!

Braveheart, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, My Big Fat Greek Wedding Trilogy, Die Hard Box Set, Mamma Mia! & Here We Go Again, Top Gun & Maverick, BBC Pride & Prejudice which is a 6 feature length Episodes with Colin Firth & Jennifer Ehle made in 1995.

Yes I love popcorn and buy popcorn kernels a 500G bag only costs £1.50. My advice make sure you have a very large pan as It always amazes me how much it grows it is alive. I try it plain first as it can be sweet enough or just add a little sprinkle of sugar.
Do you like watching the rain?

I have been watching the rain all June so far! I have cast a weather spell every time I have left home and walked to the Bus Stop as there is no shelter and I have not got wet so far.
We’re almost halfway through June already! How is your June shaping up so far?

Up and down with the rain being so heavy I have not been able to finish some staining of some wooden sleepers, my Husband repointing driveway, spray cleaning the chimney stack. There is still plenty of time so I will try a weather spell for Sunshine! We have bought some pond plants for pollinators, dragonflies. We are looking for two new plants for our front garden containers either side of our door as the Box Plants that have blight. I love going to garden centres so that will be lovely. So not too bad really.

I’m from the Midwest US and never heard of putting sugar on popcorn. I freaked out when I went to a movie in the UK, grabbed some popcorn and put a big handful in my mouth - it was so strange that I thought I had done something wrong. I nearly spit it out. Not that it tasted bad - it was just so startling.

Oh no, my parents expected me to be awake! I saw Dragonslayer when I was like, seven? With my Mom. It had the Dragon eating virgins. I saw Red Dawn when I was twelve; they had just broken out the PG-13 rating then. Heck, I saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind at a drive-in and was awake for all of it! It was awesome to see it on such a big screen in real life. I was only like, four but I still remember bits of it.

Yeah, my popcorn went all over. I went and told the movie theater people and asked for a broom but they cleaned it up for me. I was so embarrassed.

It is definitely better than the remake of it with Keira Knightley as there is a lot more content from the book. Will please let me know what you think once you have watched it.

Yes my Sunshine Spell has worked this morning it was beautiful blue sky a little cloudy. We went out to a garden centre and when we arrived home it was blue skies I have been out busy in my gardens. My Husband has done a little more on the driveway. So pleased it has worked.

No it is right as long you put on when the popcorn is hot. I rarely do it as it is normally sweet enough. I really love Butter Popcorn to I am just mindful of the calories!

~1 I’m hoping the skies clear out so I can get some good stargazing in. Sitting under a darkened sky with my newly-arrived fairy-light friends (aka fireflies) flitting around the garden gives me an amazing feeling of connection with the Universe.

~2 I love so many individual movies it’s hopeless to try to name them all. I love movies!! I will say my favorite genre is probably film noir, because so many scripts can revolve around that vibe. Often B&W, sometimes a mystery, or suspense, or a thriller - sometimes just a dark comedy. I like historical fiction or even a romantic comedy when it’s well done (a rare thing).

~3 I like my popcorn very hot, no butter but not dry - just enough of the cooking oils left to get the salt to cling to it.

~ I love watching the rain! Gentle is the best, it will put me to sleep.

The other day we had a pounding storm and the rain came down sin sheets so thick you could hardly see through it. Our flow well was quickly overwhelmed and we ended up with a small pond. My regular summer visitors, Daisy and Jay the Mallard ducks, had an absolute splash party out there. The rain slacked off and the pump caught up and drained the “pond” away, and they were sad.

~5 June has been good so far! I’m apparently getting skunked by the wanna-be landscaper, but we’re focusing on certain things another landscaper can do, instead - which is okay. And the weather has been so much better - my daylilies and bee balm are both ready to pop open, and the purple coneflowers and Swamp milkweed are right behind them. June is the month where my garden suddenly explodes!

I have just looked it up we don’t have Fireflies in the UK If you do manage to see them at some point could you please take a photograph I am fascinated to see them.
