Fun Friday (Part 3)

There is a really good book series (mystery) about a woman who overcame a LOT. Her background made her almost incredibly resilient. Hollow Girl by Alan Lee. Not sure something like that would help or hurt. It helped me understand family issues a bit (I had them)

I don’t like the thought of yellow snow unless it will taste like lemonade… but I don’t think lemons are what you’re referring to lol!

Snow is a great art media.

How did I miss this again!? There are so many fun threads in this forum, I´d have to read and reply as a full time job!

  1. February was good, meaning all us stayed healthy, we had a warm bed to sleep in, a roof over our heads and enough food in the house. What else could one ask for?

  2. My favorite fruit would be sweet and fuzzy peach :peach:

  3. The huge draft horses, like Brabanter for example. But literally all of them. A horse that´s big enough a norse god would ride it into battle.

  4. Yoga and running

  5. Yoga almost daily, running once or twice per week.

I loved reading everyones answers! :purple_heart:

What else, indeed? We all have a lot to be grateful for. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

That’s a great answer! :horse: Over here, we have a lot of commercials for Budweiser beer that show these amazing draft horses - whoever came up with that ad campaign was brilliant.

Me too! Come back tomorrow!

Another Friday - where did this week go?

Well, it’s here now and time to think about Fun Friday! So let’s have some fun with this week’s questions - here they are!

  1. What’s your favorite kind of cookie?

  2. What animal represents adventure to you?

  3. Do you like the idea of Daylight Savings time?

  4. Would you rather try riding a camel or an elephant?

  5. What’s your favorite board game?

I’ll pop my answers in now, since time permits and I have a BAD habit of forgetting to come answer myself! :joy:

Cookie - my all time favorite has to be chocolate chip! Specifically, the kind I’ve made forever until my family got tired of them - Toll House cookies. The recipe was on the back of their yellow bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, and it yielded dozens of chewy, yummy cookies. I liked them best straight out of the oven, when the chocolate was still so hot it was melting in your mouth.

So good! :cookie: This is the dough that I believe is responsible for the “chocolate chip cookie dough” craze, which is only good in your own kitchen, not buying some icky packaged version.

Adventure? The river salmon. They are amazing to watch - leaping out of the running water, swimming, driving themselves upstream literally against the current to ensure their survival. Wow!! They’re thrilling!

When I was younger and working a 40 hour work week, I used to like Daylight Savings time. You gained an hour over the weekend when it was time to “Fall back” - and even when you “lost” that hour when it was time to “Spring forward” it only meant that the evening would stay light longer and I didn’t have to drive home from work in the dark for much longer. These days, however, I’m more indifferent, and if anything I have begun to struggle a bit more with mild sense of disorientation with the time change. It’s weird.

Also - apologies to those from countries who may not engage in this time-changing madness! It was started decades ago as a way to help our agricultural communities in the growing season, so I’m actually curious if this is practiced elsewhere.

I’d love to ride on an elephant! I think a camel might feel a bit unstable, even though they look beautiful when walking, and supposedly travel without water for many, many miles.

As a general rule, I never liked many board games, but I had fun playing Monopoly with my family. I always bankrupted early, though. I liked the little metal pieces you used to move around the board, and I liked having the Horse piece (of course!) if my sister didn’t snatch it first.

I’ll be back later - have fun!! :sparkling_heart:

Shortbread.

Blue jay!

I once made a friend after picking raspberries in the woods. Sat at the base of a shade tree to rest and enjoy a few berries, intending to take the rest to the nearby McDonalds to add them to some ice cream. A jay flew to a bush near me and stayed close, squeeking like a rusty fence or swing. I got up to head south to check on my ride, but the bird fluttered ack and forth, asking me to follow, so I did. It stayed close to the ground and guided me along paths northward. Near the highway that was the northern border of the park/ forest, the bird flew higher. I was set free to enjoy the location’s soft grasses. A bit later, the bird jayed at me in a raucous manner. It was asking me to follow it again: time to head south. We took a different path, but the bird led me to the back road where campers practiced archery, just a hundred feet or so from where I was to pick up my ride!

The next time I was there was nearly a year later. A robin sat in the shady oak above me. I asked it if it would deliver a message to Blue Jay that I remembered our previous adventure and hoped he and his family were doing well. Robin left immediately, and Blue Jay arrived in about 5 minutes! This time, he led me southward to show me construction work hidden in the trees. Again, he guided me back to the parking lot in time to catch my ride!

Once upon a time in Indiana, I could tell time by the sun like the Natives used to. I liked that idea. Can’t do it under Daylight Savings. The government- induced changes make time itself feel unrealistic and unreliable. When Indiana finally accepted the changes, I went through a nasty time of questioning reality.

I was pretty young when I was set upon an elephant, so I don’t remember much. Let’s try the camel. First, find out what they are trying to say when they spit so I don’t make them waste their water.

As an only child of a person who hated games, I don’t have much experience. When I was in Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Club, my Big Sister introduced me to The Ungame, which can be either a board game or a card game. I really enjoyed it. It is based on emotions portrayed as landscape and includes social interaction with questions based upon sharing experiences.

One with chocolate chips and caramel in it. No nuts, though. I’m weird, I don’t like crunchy stuff in my cookies.

Mountain Goat. Those little suckers can climb just about anywhere and balance and just go! They’re amazing!

NO! :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

I’ve ridden both as a child at zoos. The elephant was a much nicer ride and didn’t spit.

None, really? I’m not a very competitive person, so I don’t care if I win or not. I’m not good at Battleship or Scrabble or anything like that. I guess if I had to choose, it would be Trivial Pursuit. But yeah, my Mom even stopped trying to get me to play card and board games with her. She would get frustrated with me.

Good choice!

I’ve never even heard of The Ungame. That sounds, well, kind of nerve-wracking to me. LOL!

See? They do that :joy:
Though last week was kinda interesting thanks to the eclipse energies. Sorry for being particularly unhinged last weekend, I’m a Cancer and it was blood moon, if that counts for anything

Anything with chocolate is good!
No nuts for me either, body doesn’t like them.

I’m thinking of migratory birds… what an experience it must be to fly to another land on your wings the very first time!

It’s chaos, of course I do!

Honestly I’d be kind of terrified to fall down from the top of the elephant, and possibly be trampled unrecognizable, so camel it is! Both are cute though

I used to play a lot of those with my girlfriend and my first love  Azul, Next Station: Tokyo, Super Mega Lucky Box, Eminent Domain… lots of fun ones

  1. Do I have to choose just one??? It’s going to be either…. McVities’ Hobnobs, Walkers’ Shortbread Fingers (or rounds, or any shape), McVities’ Chocolate Digestives…. need I go on??
  2. I’m with @Amethyst on the mountain goat. Fearless they are, as they bounce about the side of a mountain.
  3. Does anyone? Totally pointless invention.
  4. I would imagine elephants would be easier to ride.
  5. I don’t remember the last time I played a board game. I used to get annoyed playing Monopoly - I’m a bad loser.

  1. What’s your favorite kind of cookie?
Chocolate chip. Homemade is great but we found a nearby store that has gourmet CC and we’ve been getting them.

  2. What animal represents adventure to you?
I’m always selecting dog for these. My best adventures were with our doggos.

  3. Do you like the idea of Daylight Savings time?
I got into this discussion several times. Sleep scientists say permanent Standard Time is best. How do I become a Sleep Scientist?

  4. Would you rather try riding a camel or an elephant?
I’ve ridden both but only as a State Fair ride. The Camel is easier to get on. I suck at horse back riding, I really would be bad at Camel and Elephant - although properly trained elephants are probably the most docile. Camels are easier and much cheaper to keep. So there are pros and cons. If I was gifted one (and the farm and upkeep with it) I guess I would choose camel.

  • 5 What’s your favorite board game?
It was Monopoly of course. I haven’t played a board game since my teens. Our family likes wilder (?) stuff… things like “You Don’t Know Jack”. and other silly trivia games.

That’s a wonderful story! Blue jays are smart and do love to communicate!

I’m so with you there. I never needed a watch as a kid - that’s part of being a kid, I think, being unconsciously closer to the earth’s clock.

Fascinating! I’ve never heard of this!

The goat is an excellent answer! I agree, they can get themselves just about anywhere!

:herb: I absolutely love, drool, adore brookies! Brownies and chocolate chip cookies infused together is a match made in heaven!

:herb: I would have to say a horse. Horses carry momentum and remind me of open horizons. I think wind in my hair, dust under my feet, and the thunder of movement. They equal expansive adventure, travel, exploration, and the courage to run toward something instead of away from it.

:herb: I do like this time of year. Having more sunshine, seeing flower and plants bloom, all the animals about frolicking away does my heart good and keeps depression at bay. I have more energy and my creative juices flow so much better than during the dark part of the year!

:herb: In my heart, I would love to ride an elephant, but I know it’s not something they like or is good for them. So, I’ll leave that thought as a fantasy. I would not ever get on a camel lol! They spit and my bones just couldn’t handle that ride!

:herb: I love playing Monopoly! You never know what is going to happen lol!

These things do matter! You’re among friends here.

Migratory birds…what a great answer! And butterflies, too! I’m shocked that my brain didn’t go there first. :upside_down_face:

Wow! I haven’t played any of these!

No…but now I’m hungry! :face_savoring_food:

Another vote for our fearless mountain goats! :goat:

 At least you’re self-aware!

Oh dear - gourmet chocolate chip cookies?! I think I’d be there every other day!

 I’m detecting a pattern!

I stand with the scientists!

Admit it - you’re afraid of the size of the shovel!

Of course! The ultimate classic. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

OMG - Sis, that sounds amazing. You’re gonna drive me to the bakery for that one! :face_savoring_food:

That’s definitely adventure! I love how you describe it!

It’s hard to argue with more sun after this past winter, isn’t it? :sun:

You’re always the kind-hearted one. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Another on team Monopoly! :joy:

I’ll be there waiting for you! Brookies and tea at the ready!

Being in California means sunshine all the time but there is a difference between winter sunshine and spring sunshine. Winter sunshine doesn’t warm you and the world around me is much quieter.

I wonder what you’d think of our Northern winter sunlight. It’s interesting - it’s definitely there - we have a lot of sunny winter days - but it’s really low in the sky, closer to the horizon. Definitely without any warmth!

It’s a shivery delight to feel the earth turn and watch it climb up the horizon in the Spring. :sun:

Now that’s a party!
