I tried, too! Can’t make it work even using the link thingy. Glad we’re both thinking the same things - that song is awesome! :musical_notes:

How do you feel about the Steve Martin Version?

I’ve got to admit, I haven’t seen the Steve Martin version yet. I’m so behind on films and things; I’ve got a to-watch list a mile long!

Happy Friday, lovelies! :sparkler: :sunflower: Hope everyone is having a good week, and looking forward to a nice weekend!

It’s the last Friday in June! July will be upon us next week.

  1. Did June fly by for you, or was June a more “steady as she goes” kind of month?

Today (June 26) is National Coconut Day! This is an event to celebrate all the various ways we use this funny-looking fruit (actually classified as a stone fruit) rather than a tree nut. We use it in the kitchen, and for its meat and milk and oils.

  1. Do you like coconut? What are some of the ways you’ve used it or eaten it?

  2. Are you an early riser?

  3. Do you like clowns? Good or bad, do you have a favorite one?

  4. What’s your favorite snack or treat to whip up for yourself in the kitchen - even if you’re not much of a cook?

Here are my answers.

~1 I must say, after a slow start for me June took off like a guided missile! :joy: I finally gave up on this landscaper (after way too much fretting). I’ve never been ghosted by a landscaper before, so was stuck in uncertainty for 2 months. Once I moved on, things got busy fast. My garden took off, the butterfly caterpillars suddenly appeared, and I’ve been busy every day. That’ll make the time fly!

~2 I love coconut! I’ve used coconut oil, which comes in a solid that resembles vegetable shortening, and it is beautiful stuff for the skin that smells great. I love using it in the kitchen - in baked goods, it elevates the whole recipe. Canned coconut milk is like heaven in my recipes for curry soup or Tom Kha Gai.

And I love a Mounds Bar and Almond Joy - dark chocolate than soft, creamy coconut inside. :face_savoring_food:

~3 I have gotten out of the routine of getting up early, and regret it! In the heat of summer, early mornings are the best times to get out to the garden, fill the bird feeders, birdbath and any other chores that pop up.

The cats used to get me up, but they’ve been slackers as my kitty alarm clocks. I’ve done better the last 2 days, but I can’t count on them these days.

~4 NO - and that’s a hard no. I don’t like clowns, in any form, and I avoid them. The mascot for McDonald’s, Ronald McDonald, is disgusting and creepy. Are you trying to ruin my guilty pleasure of getting a large order of fries?

I’ve feared clowns since i was a kid. Why are they around? Why do they look right at you and beckon you to come close? What’s under that makeup and weird costumes? Get the !%*$& away from me.

Coulrophobia is the clinical term for the “intense, persistent, and irrational fear of clowns,” but I find that description insulting. What’s irrational about avoiding a creature that lurches around, drawing attention to itself - when you just know bad things will happen if you get too close to it?

~5 A quick whip-up snack for me is granola. It’s one of the fastest things I make and I can stuff a gallon-sized ziplock bag with it, so it lasts for days. (Hey! It has unsweetened shredded coconut in it, I just recalled!) Dried fruit and honey and oatmeal - so good. And maybe 45 minutes of my time in the kitchen.

I’ll be back later to check in! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Watch out for clowns.

The first part went quickly, but the last week? Agonizingly slow.

I like it, but it’s difficult for me to eat it sometimes. I stick to Samoan cookies and Mounds bars.

Yeah, but I don’t want to be. LOL! I’d like to sleep till five am at least.

Eh. Depends on the clown. I was a big fan of Bozo the Clown growing up, even had a joke read on his show, and got a picture! But Pennywise? Heck no!

Pizza. I can eat pizza at any time of the day, and if I pass on pizza, it means I am dangerously ill and need to go to the hospital. Yeah, not so much of a snack as a meal, but if I’m just snack hungry, I usually don’t bother.

Laziness has kept me from being even heavier than I am now. LOL!

I’m glad I’m not the only Mounds fan! I can eat an Almond Joy, but I usually eat around the almond.

Bozo was nice! Cooky, his buddy, was too! He gave out prizes if you could play their version of beer pong!

I’m sorry the slow part was agonizing. It’s hard to appreciate down time when we’re programmed to be doing something, like, all the time!

Oh - do you mean the Girl Scout cookies?? I forgot about those! Crispy coconut baked on top - so crunchy and good!

That’s so cool!! I didn’t even realize you could send in stuff like that. See?? I’ve said it since I’ve known you: your sense of humor is your superpower!

…but Bozo is still icky. :frowning:

You mean pizza rolls! :face_savoring_food: That counts as a snack!

Now that you mention it, that’s kind of what I do, too. Mounds are the best!

Yeah, that’s what they want you to believe.

Yeppers! I even have a recipe somewhere for it in a cupcake. That would be yummy!

It was a silly knock-knock joke. I was nine or so. High humor back then.

No, I mean an actual pizza. None of this roll crap. I want a whole pizza!

He’s not around anymore. It’s sad that most kids know that clowns are the scary ones. There’s no circus around anymore or anything.

Happy Fun Friday Silly Saturday! :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

The horror! :scream:

Nah, it’s all good :joy:

My June was pretty chaotic :exploding_head: It started out in Greece, I had fun times, tasty food, lots of sun :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Then all of a sudden my stomach turned inside out :skull: Got back, got better, helped a friend move, had a nice day at the beach with her, some painful conversations about the nature of our relationship… then I also had a nice and relaxed cruise on the Baltic Sea, sang some karaoke and partied until dawn. At some point I told my friend that I’m going to take it easy this month, she rightfully didn’t believe me

Said friend also brought Asmodeus to my life again, he seems to pop up once in a while  So I’ve been working a bit with him, integrating those energies and sides in myself, finding strength and stability where there used to be shadows. Aphrodite also came into my life, she’s been a delight :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I like a nice pair of coconuts  :coconut: Sorry, someone had to say it :face_with_hand_over_mouth: The smell and the taste are pleasant to me. I don’t eat it that much, but I sometimes use the oil as a base for my salves, massage oils and such :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: It’s also excellent personal lubricant, as long as you remember that it’s oil and as such not compatible with latex :joy:

Sometimes, the morning hours are lovely :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: But most of the time I’m more of a moon lover :white_heart: and a night owl :owl:

Let’s just say that if I was a supervillain I might have a clown school  Kinda feel bad for the nice clowns who just want to make people smile though. Thanks a lot Stephen King :joy:

Do agree with that though, I’d just call it survival instinct!

I’d say pannukakku, traditional Finnish pancake prepared in the oven  At this time of the year I’m partial to tiny potatoes fresh out of the ground; cook them, add a little bit of salt and butter, they’re so good  I also like to add a bit of ketchup, no one seems to understand that, but I do me :joy:

Sunny Saturday, it has been lovely and warm today with a high of 28.

@Feathertip

  1. Did June fly by for you, or was June a more “steady as she goes” kind of month?

:sun: it has been a very busy month with covering at work for two weeks, I have also re-stained fence panels, pergola, wooden sleepers both at front and back, potting shed, planted pond plants, and two pots at front might buy some more lemon thyme, my Husband has been re-pointing the front driveway. I cannot believe that it will be 3rd July next Friday hoping next month will be slower.

:sun: 2. Yes I do like coconut. I buy Little Moons and my favourites are coconut, mango & passion fruit, lemon & elderflower sorbet, pineapple & mandarin sorbet and very berry sorbet (I attach a photograph so you can see what they are), I like dark chocolate bounty, I do buy fresh and like to drink the water and then hollow out the shell

  1. Are you an early riser?

:sun: I would say yes our alarm is set for 6.00 am Monday to Friday on a normal working week we tend to be awake before as our fur babies get us up earlier in Spring, Winter we do get a lie in until 6.30-7.00 am. However, my sleep has been erratic over the last few years waking about 3 times a night from when I go to bed at 10.00 pm. I tend to have 2 to 3 hours and wake up and it then take a while to get back over. On the week of a Full Moon I don’t get much sleep. I have done all the sleep recommendations, and added my dream weaver challenge entry and other magic but it is just the way I am at the moment. I am functioning ok so I am not concerned. I was born at 3.45 am so it could just be my normal.

  1. Do you like clowns? Good or bad, do you have a favourite one?

:sun: No not at all they are creepy

  1. What’s your favourite snack or treat to whip up for yourself in the kitchen - even if you’re not much of a cook?

:sun: If I want something savoury I cut a slice of multigrain bloomer or sourdough bread and toast then add sliced tomatoes, basil pesto, greek barrel aged Feta Cheese, fresh basil leaves and drizzle with olive oil. If I want something sweet I make nutty flapjacks with Scottish Oats, Flaked Almonds, Chopped Walnuts, Brazil, Hazelnut, Pecans and add a British Single Apiary Honey and Golden Syrup :waxing_gibbous_moon::sun::honeybee::coconut::green_heart:

Very good point! And never use mayo. Or butter. Not good.

Oh, I’m sorry. I digress.

That clown craze that was around a few years ago made a lot of Nice Clowns upset. They’re pretty much out of a job now.

What are Little Moons? Oh, I see! It’s an ice cream treat! Nice!

  1. Did June fly by for you, or was June a more “steady as she goes” kind of month?

It was going pretty slowly, but now it seems to be speeding up as the time for our trip to see my dad in England gets closer.

  1. Do you like coconut? What are some of the ways you’ve used it or eaten it?

Can’t say that I use it at all, but I do like Mounds bars and Almond Joy bars.

  1. Are you an early riser?

I used to be because it took hours to get to work in downtown Houston from the 'burbs. Since I retired I see no reason to get out of bed before 8 am, or even better, 9 am.

  1. Do you like clowns? Good or bad, do you have a favorite one?

Not a fan of clowns, I don’t care for slapstick comedy, whoopee cushions, plastic flowers that squirt water in your face etc.

  1. What’s your favorite snack or treat to whip up for yourself in the kitchen - even if you’re not much of a cook?

Toast with something on it is about as fancy as I get. I am not a cook at all. Thankfully Eric does our cooking, or I’d starve.

Totally too fast. I’m not sure why.

  1. Do you like coconut? What are some of the ways you’ve used it or eaten it?

Coconut creme pie, cake frosting, fruit salad, candy bars, and probably a gazillion other ways. Trail mix, smoothies, cookies, etc. We like coconut.

  1. Are you an early riser?

I have a fractured sleep cycle. Sometimes I’m up at 5 a.m. (or earlier) and others I sleep in 'til 10 or 11.

4.. Do you like clowns? Good or bad, do you have a favorite one?

My paranoia wasn’t always right, but just to be on the safe side, I never went to sleep with a clown in the room. ~ Mark Henwick

I actually had a friend who was a gruff and typical pro. Then I learned he volunteered off-duty as a clown for charities and hospital visits. Totally unexpected. He would be my favorite clown.

  1. What’s your favorite snack or treat to whip up for yourself in the kitchen - even if you’re not much of a cook?

Home spun cream cheese and olive dip for scooping.

Peanut butter, jelly and banana sandwich. Low prep time and the ingredients compliment each other.

Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches are also frequent selections.

I do like Ramon noodles but I usually substitute the flavor packet with my own vegetables and a leftover protein (and the normal fish sauce, hoisin, soy, and a comfortable hot sauce (Sriracha)).

And I’m finally getting around to answering you on a Silly Sunday, so it looks like we’re both silly ones!

Wow! That’s a lot, right there! Glad you got some travel in and had fun (sorry about the stomach thing!). No wonder June has flown by for you!

And of course, it’s you saying it. Always the naughty sprite! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Stephen King just pointed out what some of us already knew - they’re no good, I tell ya!

Exactly! Right up there with zombies!

ooo, I’ve not heard of this but it sounds yummy!

Nope - in the US ketchup on potatoes is a real thing! My husband swears they’re a natural pairing. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Wow - you have definitely stayed busy this month! I’m sure it all looks fantastic - your garden is always beautiful in your photos. Definitely makes the time fly by, though!

Thank you for this photo! I’ve never seen these and oh, they look so yummy! This creamy coconut ice cream looks to die for. :face_savoring_food:

There’s my girl - you get it! :joy:

Oh, that’s a delicious sounding savory snack! Now I’m thinking I have to start pulling on some of my basil plants and get some pesto going!

This sounds divine - wow! You’re very handy in your kitchen, I see. :woman_cook:

Pogo the Clown was nice. Loved to entertain the little children and make them laugh! Too bad he was an alter-ego to John Wayne Gacy. (Look him up!) :scream:

Can’t blame Stephen King for drawing on real events and putting his spin on things. Clown, git back! :raised_back_of_hand:

Oh, so the trip is definitely a go, then? I take it that Eric is doing better - that’s wonderful to hear! I hope time slows down while you’re there so you can savor the fun!

They’re the absolute best! (They both use dark chocolate!) :face_savoring_food:

Ugh - kudos to you for making that trip downtown every day! I-45 is a thankless journey, and I never really found a good workaround that highway. It’s nice to be retired and set your own schedule!

 And those are the innocent ones!

Generally speaking, though, I don’t mind slapstick comedy, if it’s done well (minus clowns).

“Fancy toast” is an actual chef’s snack, and there’s a lot of variety. Don’t sell yourself too short!
