Fun Friday

Let’s see.

  1. Jem and the Holograms. Loved that. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. Kidd Video. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Real Ghostbusters. Gads I’m old. As for the movies I gotta say Ghostbusters and Return of the Jedi.

  2. That working with your doctors really does work. Eventually.

  3. This is a tough one. Right now, I’d probably love to imagine flowers popping up. Dandelions and Daffodils especially. They haven’t started here yet.

  4. I have no rhythm and have weird tastes in music. Let’s go with an oldie but a goodie. Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.

  5. Decorating for Beltane. I’m waiting till after Easter because it would look weird to get rid of my bunnies and eggs before that, but I have fairies and little baskets to put flowers in for Beltane. I wish I had a Maypole, but I am not crafty and those things are expensive on Etsy considering it’s a dowel rod and some ribbon on a base.

I’ve also got to shot out to two of my all time favorite cartoons that happened when I was an adult. Gargoyles and Batman: The Animated Series. Still watch that last one in reruns today. I loved Kevin Conroy in that and cried when he passed. :bat:

This was fun! It was hard to pick just five cartoons. LOL!

You’re most welcome @BryWisteria, I’m glad you enjoy them!

@Amethyst in all my years, I’ve never met anyone who’d heard of Jem, let alone someone who loved it too! My inner child is totally geeking out right now :woman_dancing:t4::confetti_ball::woman_dancing:t4::confetti_ball::woman_dancing:t4:

It’s early morning here. This is a good exercise for me since I am not all together until after my second coffee.

  1. Any five Looney Tunes - Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, etc. They were the best and still are the best. My movie as a kid was “The Farmer’s Daughter”. It can’t be found now. It was a Western that I watched in the theater twice and got into trouble from my mom when I showed up at 7 pm for dinner.
  2. My positive lesson this month was our daughters are getting better at life than we were/are.
  3. I was walking down the street and I imagined that tree in our front yard would be there forever. It fell the next day.
  4. If I am dancing in our bedroom then the song is ‘99 bottles of beer on the wall’ (US drinking song)
  5. Our family is strung across the US but we will get together in April.

That will require a little more research. I don’t remember much other than Peanuts holiday specials, Loony Tunes, Grape Ape, and Dune Buggy. Hunh. Scooby Doo. Josie and the Pussycats was musical. Jetsons and Flintstones and Yogi Bear. Giggle. I guess I remember more than I think I do. Anybody remember Land of the Lost?

Movies… Yearly Wizard of Oz at Christmas time. I was older when I saw The Last Unicorn and Willow, but I loved them. My favorite movies were The Cat from Outer Space, Child of Glass, and Escape to Witch Mountain.

Oh. I was only supposed to do a certain number of each. Memory is funny: it keeps going once tripped.

Someone told me that once a person had Covid, it would be harder to heal from illnesses. learned the truth of it first hand.

… Seeing the man my mother wanted me to marry. Last time I saw him, he was on the run from the law for killing his abusive stepfather. It was self defense. He was asking me to go with him, but I wasn’t ready. Would travel with him have been considered aiding and abetting? I was always the only person who could calm his anger, so eventually, that would have worn off to become a danger for me. I’m glad I chose not to go, but I do miss him sometimes.

I used to do the Charleston. I was never much of a dancer.

Ooh! April is Founder’s Day. Sometimes they have it early in the month, sometimes closer to Earth Day. Either way, there is a parade in Old Town and concert at the Gazebo. Then the free concert season begins! I wonder how they are going to put it together, this year. One year, we had cultural sunsets on Thursdays, famous people like Rosanne Cash and ShaNaNa on Fridays, and local talent on Saturdays. That was a different governor, though. Lately, there have been special festivals per section of the city: I missed seeing Chubby Checker because I couldn’t get a bus out that far west.

Would you take the opportunity to poo on the pigoens!

Can’t be wierder than mine! I was raised on Glenn Miller and Scott Joplin in the 1970’s!

I think I have some energy to spare today to answer these questions!

I just love that you do this every Friday, Nikki :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: it’s been fun to read everyone’s responses so far!

  1. Tell us 5 cartoons and 2 movies you loved as a kid.
    – I’m struggling to remember any cartoons I watched as a kid. I have lots of “blank spaces” in my childhood memory, so I’m not surprised  one movie I used to watch over and over with my Nana, though, was The Indian in the Cupboard. She even had the replica cupboard with the figures and the key! Another movie I will never turn down watching is The Neverending Story :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: And now that I’m thinking about some of these, I’m going to count Fantasia as both a cartoon and a movie :joy:

  2. What lesson did you learn this month?
    – I’ve learned a few, but they’re more private than I’d like to share here.

  3. Finish this sentence: I was walking down the street and I imagined…
    – …that somewhere, someone in a far-off planet or plane of existence is walking down the street just like me, imagining other far-off people doing the same.

  4. You’re dancing in your bedroom - what song is playing?
    – Right now, it would be something by Paris Paloma. Her music has been a hyperfocus of mine lately.

  5. What are you looking forward to next month?
    – Honestly, nothing yet! Well, okay…next month is the last full month of my semester. My semester officially ends on May 3rd, so I’m very much looking forward to that!

Yay, more Friday fun! :blush::two_hearts:

Tell us 5 cartoons and 2 movies you loved as a kid.

Duck Tales, Looney Tunes, Pippi Longstockings, Bamboo Bears, a Czechoslovakian one about a spider that I don’t have a name for…

There was a freaky movie called “The Fly”, about a scientist who got himself genetically merged with a housefly, due to an accident with a teleporter he was working on. It was a horrifying movie, but I loved it in a way. I also saw the Alien movies younger than I probably should have. So maybe thanks to those I have a sweet spot for body horror now…

Not sure if I watched anything more age-appropriate? Something like Gremlins and Ghostbusters maybe, or Back to the Future… I got my movie recommendations from my teenage older brothers :innocent:

What lesson did you learn this month?

Eclipse seasons can be really intense!

Finish this sentence: I was walking down the street and I imagined…

…a light centered in my heart that spread first everywhere in my body, then outside of it far and wide, out towards the horizon and all the way to foreign lands and out into space, brightening up the whole universe… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

You’re dancing in your bedroom - what song is playing?

“Under a Violet Moon” by Blackmore’s Night is often where it begins. Or “Walpurgisnacht” by FAUN. Mantra songs by Tina Malia maybe. Or something by Nobuo Uematsu. :silver_heart:

What are you looking forward to next month?

More sun and less snow!:sun: And more witchy circles :sparkling_heart:

I agree, the variety in responses is so cool to see, and it’s also interesting when people name things you’re familiar with

Btw @georgia if I’m a flying bird then I have to poo somewhere, why not on an idiot :see_no_evil_monkey::rofl:

Hee! I looked today and on the Roku Channel, you can watch like 3 seasons, I think, of Jem? She was outrageous! LOL!

You can swing to Glen Miller. I like European Symphonic Rock. LOL! Nightwish, Within Temptation. Blackbriar. Some great music but I have no idea how you’d dance to it.

  1. Tell us 5 cartoons and 2 movies you loved as a kid.
I love cartoons… but I had very strict rules about how much television I could watch! I loved Captain Planet, She-Ra, Rainbow Bright, Gargoyles, and X-men. I loved Beauty and the Beast and The Princess Bride

  2. What lesson did you learn this month?
Oh goodness… maybe that sometimes small gestures make a more profound impact than you usually realize.

  3. Finish this sentence: I was walking down the street and I imagined… a horde of dragons flew overhead!

  4. You’re dancing in your bedroom - what song is playing?
Mmm, I am love APT still, it gets stuck in my head…

  5. What are you looking forward to next month? Spring Break! and one of my babies turns 16!

Does anyone remember the musical skit shows on tv? Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Captain and Teneille, Andy Williams’ holiday shows, Johnny Mathis, John Denver, Peter Paul and Mary, Dean Martin, ShaNaNa? I remember having music in the house every day of the week. This was back when The Gong Show was actually seeking talent. Carol Burnett could really sing!

Before there were cartoons in my life, I remember shows like The Electric Company and Big Blue Marble. At the end of each episode of Big Blue Marble, there was an address on the screen. Write to them, and they would send you the name and address of someone in another country to write to and be pen pals with. It didn’t work for me. I tried twice. The one from France never wrote to me.

One was someone from Nigeria. She wanted to know if I’d actually met her favorite tv stars- Gary Coleman and his costar from Different Drums. I sent her a picture of me and never heard from her again. It upset me. Mom said she probably was black and didn’t want me to know. I cried that anyone would treat someone so poorly as to cause such fear.

Funny how the internet has made us all pen pals! We’re perfectly happy with it!

I remember them. They were great. Nice list!

I have digital friends everywhere. Another thing I love. :heartbeat:

I used to love watching the Carol Burnett show growing up. She’s also awesome as a bad guy. She was on this one episode of Law and Order SVU and was so great! A class act!

I like their Ghost Love Score the best I think. But yeah, hard to dance to. LOL!

Synergy was so much fun. They never used her enough as a AI.

You know, until you said that @Amethyst, I’d never thought of Synergy as AI but she came out of the computer so doh lol! But I totally agree, they didn’t use her nearly enough!

I do the Charleston by accident when I get up sometimes. For me it is walking.

Seriously, doing the Charleston is awesome. I can only slow dance and then only with my SO. Partly because I don’t what to make her mad and mostly because she is the only one it feels great with.

That sounds like it needs to be on a Tshirt! I would totally buy it too, Stark had nothing on Synergy!

Thanks for joining in @Jeannie1, love your answers too!
