Merry Meet All!
The past couple of weeks I have been studying the herbs in the green witch lessons. I am so grateful for what Ive been learning. Im not really sure what kind of witch i am just yet, other than knowing im ecclectic But what I do know is I have been looking for healthier more natural ways to care for myself and my family and I am able to learn how to do that here. I knew my craft would lead me here eventually. I sometimes have a hard time following some of the recipes as I dont always have what I need and don’t have the funds I need to get them, but Im finding ways around that. I’d gratefully take any suggestions anyone may have.
Thank you all in advance!
I know there are substitutions. Rosemary can be used in place of other herbs. I’d say work with what you have! Use your intuition and do what feels right to you! Recipes and spells don’t need to be followed word for word!
Here’s a post that might be helpful!
Thaks! This was super useful
Merry Meet!
From one Eclectic to another!! I also dabble in green witchery. Thyme and Rosemary are really versatile subs for multiple ingredients I went through this for a little while when I was first getting into the craft. Witchin on a budget! You can also research other common, affordable, ingredients! I got A LOT of my herbs from the dollar store. The best, and main ingredient, of any spell is intention
herbs are versatile. Also, white candles can sub for any color candle

Blessed Be Sister
rosemary and lemongrass replace all herbs

You’ve got some great advice here already- I second what others have said about using correspondences for substitutions! I’m a big supporter of customizing spells too- if you’re missing ingredients or feel you want to tweak the spell to better support your situation, I’d warmly encourage you to go for it. At the end of the day, the most important driver of magick is the caster’s intention. Other additions to the spell simply enhance and help direct it (in my personal beliefs).
I also want to put in a good word for seed banks- our library has a free seed sharing program (and even a place where people can donate plants they don’t want/need). It’s worth checking out local resources as you may be able to find some seeds and plants for free!
Wishing you all the best with your gardening and herbal studies. Blessed be!
