Hello @TheDarkestDesire
I lived in Eagle River, a few miles from Anchorage. The eagles would gather by the river every day waiting for food. They were so beautiful to see. Where I lived the sun never rose above the mountains in winter. I worked in Anchorage so at lunchtime, I would sit in my car where I could see the sun which just barely rose above the mountains there. Farther north the sun doesn’t rise above the horizon for about 6 months. Everything was decorated with lights throughout the winter, which was also beautiful.
It was so beautiful there, the mountains looked so beautiful and so huge. Anchorage is on the pacific ocean which keeps it a little warmer. I was just in awe of the beauty. When the first snow covers the mountain tops it’s called Termination Snow which is the end of summer, which is about three months. And once it snows, it’s there until the Spring Thaw. Huge piles of snow in the parking lots didn’t melt until April or May. There’s so much wildlife, moose everywhere, and hunting and fishing. So if you love the outdoors it’s the perfect place to be.
Hawaii was also very beautiful. We lived in Kihei, Maui. We explored much of the island, black sandy beaches, lava fields and so much more. It was interesting how one side of the island is wet, another is dry, and the volcano sometimes gets a little snow. They burned the sugarcane fields so the smoke was bad sometimes. We lived about 3 blocks from the ocean so it was within walking distance and the ocean breeze was so nice in the summer.
The only way I could tell summer from winter is that there are more flowers blooming in the summer! I had the best tan ever, but I was afraid to swim in the ocean because I’m so afraid of sharks. My husband took up scuba diving. The fresh pineapple was amazing. We rented a condo while we were there. In Alaska and Hawaii, you can own property, you don’t have to be a native.
I loved being in Europe, there’s so much history there. We explored so many castles, churches, and old historic sites. There are walking trails everywhere in Germany. We wandered into a church in Torino, Italy, and I could feel so much amazing energy there, and soon after realized the Shroud of Turin was there!
I’m so sorry if I’m rambling too much, so I’m going to stop now.
With love
always
