I was raised in a Pentecostal church by a long line of Pastors, and I believe that if Christianity hadnt gotten there first, I would have been a witch. Truth be told, that is the only reason for the struggle I’m now working my way through.
I went to see a tarot reader 3 weeks ago, because I’d been seeing some blatant signs recently and I needed a stranger who had nothing to gain to either tell me I’m crazy or right. She told me that I’m a very powerful psychic, empath and healer, and basically the universe is screaming at me to share my gifts as I saw in my vision. Considering everything else she said was ridiculously accurate, I have to assume shes right about that too… I’m still wrapping my head around that one.
That said, I think on some level I’ve always known, and like I said, the signs have appeared throughout my life. So I find myself at the beginning of this journey, deeply concerned about where it could end up, and also quite excited and intrigued. I intend to follow through as she suggested, finding the balance between Christianity (which always bothered me because, like nearly every religion, it was written by men) and my craft, and helping people in the way they need to be helped. Some people need a counsellor, some need an intervention, and some need an alternative.
I’m also looking for ways to honour and develop my gifts, so if anyone has any advice or tips, they’ll be gratefully received!
My name is Kat, and I’ve been practicing the craft for over 30 years. My practice is rooted in a blend of nature magick, green magick, and elements of hedgecraft. I work closely with the natural world, drawing inspiration from plant spirits, animal spirits, and liminal spaces. My interests include herbalism, gardening, and divinatory practices like tarot, throwing bones, and Lenormand.
There is a wonderful search function that will help you dig for more information in the forums!
We’re glad to have you here. Make yourself comfortable, explore, and feel free to ask questions!
Hi, @Nikki-Phoenix! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum!
I’m glad you found us! I’m pretty sure there are a few Christian Witches among us that will be able to help you. And I’m pretty sure there are a few councilors here that might be able to point you in the right direction. I could be wrong though, but a lot of the witches here have good common sense so that will help you out.
As for me I’m an Eclectic Wiccan, and haven’t been to church in decades and it was Methodist when I did go, so I don’t know how much I can help. But if you have any questions or anything, just ask and I or someone else from the forum will try to give you a hand!
My name is Georgia. I am a recovering Catholic. Mom was lenient in my early years, so I developed my own belief system. If others can write religions, so can we, and what we write for ourselves will be more meaningful because it grows from our experiences. I simply didn’t fit anywhere else, but I’m happy to be here.
Sounds like you had a positive visit with the reader. I’m happy it led here. Glad to meet you.
Feel free to join in any conversation that interests you. I’m looking forward to learning from you!
Welcome @Nikki-Phoenix!
I am so glad that you foind us and you are listening to your intuition! I am excited to see how you find yourself bow that you have decided to question what worls for you and what doesn’t. It is always freeing when that happens! What an exciting time we have met you!
Welcome to the coven.
I am Celine, I am an eclectic witch from Portland Oregon. I work with Hades, Persephone, Baba yaga, Bridgit, Medicine Buddha, Tara in all incarnates, Avalokitesvara, Ganesha, Shiva and Kali Maha.
I took my buddhist vows in 2012 and my buddhist name is Janchup Pelozum. Meaning gathering enlightement. I have an almost daily chanting practice and meditation practice. I have been practicing magic since 2012. But practiced divination staring at 12.
Hi Kat, it’s lovely to virtually meet you! Thank you for such a warm welcome, I’m looking forward to learning from you!
I’m also an Eclectic Wiccan and haven’t been to church in a decade, and I guess I’m okay with leaving it where it is. My concern regards my path, as recent events have led me to believe that I may have had a past life, where I was also a Wiccan and apparently very good at it, but something happened and it wasn’t good. So I’ll be exploring that in the coming months, making sure I don’t make the same mistakes.
Apologies for the delay in replying, but both myself and my autistic toddler have the flu - clearly the Goddess wants me to rest!
Hi Georgia, lovely to virtually meet you! I completely agree with you, and it’s the biggest problem I had with Christianity and religion in general… they were all created by the rich and powerful men within every society. As in, every scripture isn’t necessarily what God said, it’s what you said He said… anyway, I feel much more at home here!
I do feel excited, and it’s intriguing how things have played out once I started listening to my intuition. I’m still trying to adjust to everything the reading told me, but I believe it a little more each day. I’m looking forward to learning from you!
Not really. I like candle magic and chants, and will write my own prayers if I have the inspiration. But yeah, I don’t have just one area I specialize in. I’m too busy reading books on different subjects!
But I’m sure we can learn from each other in some way! I’m looking forward to it!
I grew up catholic and even was confirmed in high school. I don’t really have bad memories with the church in terms of the religious aspects but do have issues with the leadership and choices of individuals in the church. I really enjoyed the ceremonies of mass and was fond of my rosary. There are times when I wish I still kept my rosary for meditation. But even while I was practicing, I was exploring other religions. It was and is fascinating to explore different faiths! I incorporate a few things from catholicism in my practice but am mostly nature-focused. I am not Wiccan. I started there but all the pieces didn’t fit for me so I kept exploring.
You might find your path immediately or it might take a lifetime to try this and that. Either is just fine. It’s the journey that’s the important part.
Hi. I’m new here too, and like you, I have grown up with frustrations about our organized religions. While I normally practice meditation I have also been exploring Chaos magick and have found several things that resonate with me. For now, I am dabbling in candles, crystals, and tarot for use in meditations but I’m also seriously researching runes and Chaos. For me, Chaos offers the ‘why’ of my adventure (so far) and I think I just need to explore and understand how to apply it. It may take a while (and lots of reading) but I’m very intrigued about how it is going so far. I hope you enjoy your adventure as much as I am.
I have good and bad memories from the church, and whilst I value the upbringing it provided, it is still made up of humans with agendas and flaws. I still put on Gospel music each Sunday and it still enriches my soul, so if I may, maybe you should start using your rosary beads again. It’s your path, do it as you wish!
As for my path, my reading was quite clear - I need to incorporate what feels right, and release the rest to make space for Wicca. It’s probably going to be a rest-of-my-life kinda thing, but I think I know where I’m heading. At least I hope so!
I also feel a pull towards candles, crystals, tarots and runes, although the last 2 are more recent endeavours. I hope I enjoy the journey too, and I hope you continue to enjoy yours, I look forward to sharing in the future!
Welcome to the forum! I’m Bry, one of the moderators and an Eclectic Witch. Thank you for sharing your introduction, it’s very nice to meet you
It sounds like your visit to the tarot reader helped unlock your path forward - congrats to you for embracing your practice, Nikki! Please know that you’re among friends here. We’re all living and learning and growing, and although everyone’s practice is unique, it’s fun to share the journey. Make yourself at home here!
