Greetings from Kentucky!

Good morning and happy Sunday! My name is Robin and I’m not sure how I would label myself. I’m not sure I like labels actually but here goes:

I’m a recovering evangelical christian who has had too many witchy things occur to ignore. As a child, I was told I have ESP- although that term has gone out of fashion (it was the 70’s after all) My mother introduced me to palm reading, and self-hypnosis (which I don’t follow) and allowed me to read witchcraft books during my teen years. I ditched all that when I started attending church in my 20s.

I do have some psychic abilities, for example, I “saw” my college-aged daughter get hit by a car three days before it happened. She is fine now, btw. I’ve also prayed over people for protection, and healing and they would be protected or healed instantly. I have incredibly detailed dreams and remember most of them.

I seem to know things about people but I’ve learned to say nothing because it stirs up the angry pot if I expose their motivations. I also see auras, always have -since childhood.

As I said, I’m recovering from being brainwashed in the “church”. I do believe nature can heal us if we allow it. I am currently studying herbalism and plant medicine. I do think I am a healer, so there’s that.

My human offspring are grown, and I co-rent an apartment with my middle child, another baby witch. She was also raised in the church and shocked me (and slightly amused me) when she declared she did not believe in god, heaven or hell. I have come to believe the same.

I joined this site after several weeks of “lurking”. I keep getting drawn back so I decided to join for real. I’m learning, absorbing, and becoming excited to finally find my calling, identity or whatever.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. I tend to be long-winded as I have a lot to say and not many people around to understand. I’m excited to be here and learn from all of you.

Blessed be

Weclome! I’m so glad you decided to join! There is so much to learn here from some amazingly talented folks! I grew up very strict Catholic, but luckily my mom encouraged us to be open to other religions.

Kentucky is near and dear to my heart. I spent 5 years there for college and fell in love with the mountains and the people! I’m in Georgia now, but Kentucky, I think, will always be home!

Welcome again!

Welcome to the forum @Robin19

My name is Megan and I’m one of the moderators here at Spells8 :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: It’s nice to meet you!

It sounds like you’ve got a lot of skill with healing and visions - that’s amazing! Even if you were using them under the context of Christianity at first, those skills are still important to have  I’m glad to hear that you and your children are finding your paths! Coming out of an evangelical belief system to something like paganism and witchcraft can be kind of a culture shock of sorts  so we’re here if you’ve got questions!

Don’t worry about being long-winded - many of us here are also because this is our safe space where we can be ourselves  I look forward to seeing you around more often!

I visited Kentucky when I was a teenager and instantly fell in love with how beautiful it is. I promised myself then I would live here when I grew up. It took a nasty divorce but I did eventually pack up my own teenagers and moved to Kentucky as a single parent.

After a seven year stint in California taking care of my dying Aunt, I returned home to Kentucky after she passed last July.

I’m so glad to be home.

Welcome @Robin19! I’m Siofra_Strega, a moderator here at Spells8. I’m so happy that you’ve made it to the forum! I lived in KY for a little while. I was in Utica & briefly in Owensboro. As much as I loved it, I ultimately returned to MA because I couldn’t stand being landlocked. I missed being able to go to the ocean whenever I wanted to for whatever reason.

I was raised in a Roman/Irish Catholic home, but honestly wasn’t a very good follower. I had too many questions & couldn’t wrap my head around it & with no real answers to the questions, it just didn’t feel right.

Have you found the courses? Those are full of great information & if you have any questions feel fee to ask away! Everyone here is very helpful, friendly, & supportive. So someone will be able to help you out. If you have anything to share with us, feel free to jump in on any open topic or to start your own! We love to learn & try new things also.

I look forward to getting to know you! :infinite_roots:

Greetings Robin19, I am also from Kentucky. I’m also recovering from being brain washed (forced into being a singer in a Baptist band as well at the ages of 12-18) Im also recovering from several types of abuse i used to escape do to my childhood. You are so blessed to be a healer i have recognized any of my gifts as of yet. I normally just lurk and read myself.

KY was a great place in area for me but not the situations…

I can say that it took me a while to really accept my gifts & unblock myself to bring them more to my attention? conscious awareness? It did take some work for similar reasons & unhealthy coping skills acquired that stayed with me & over developed well past my 20s.

You will be able to get there & both of you will flourish with your own paths & finding your footing. :revolving_hearts:

Welcome to spells8.
You are so beautiful, your face radiates sunshine!
Every one of us came here as a seeker of knowledge. And most of us came here because their religious teaching didn’t satisfy them.
You may find meditation an advantage to you in order to learn to focus better.
Robin, each and every one of us is born ‘magick’. We are slowly taught to lose our childhood fantasies (:man_elf:magick). Parents, teachers, priests or ministers, and even your bosses expect you to follow a certain path. I don’t think they do it maliciously, but we have been almost programmed, like little soldiers. Do what you’re told.
If you can do that? Good for you.
BUT if you find yourself wondering, Why?
There is so much to see and learn in life. The fact that you came here seeking, may and I hope will become the journey to a new life.
Blessed be my new sister
Garnet
