Greetings from Oregon!

Hello! My name is Rebecca from the lovely rainy PNW
I joined here because I wanted to seek some community. I find it really motivating to share certain aspects of my craft, and see what others are doing as well! It is just very nice to have peers and mentors in your journey.

A bit about me: I really enjoy collecting and growing my own materials when possible and try to spend as much time outdoors as I can and. Even just cracking the window is such a change of energy!
I practice Qui Gong meditation and find it useful for my life and my own energy and practice. I do a lot of kitchen and home magic and really enjoy making things. I also really enjoy the research side of things and take a lot of notes and enjoy making pages for my book of shadows by hand. I am a cat and chicken mum. More recently I’ve been working more with sound as well.
I’m interested in learning more about dream work, herbs, and all things that are shared here.

Looking forward to meeting and learning from others here! Here are a couple of questions in case you don’t mind sharing, too:

What is your favorite thing related to your craft to grow or gather?
Your favorite tea blend?

Right now I’m really eager to go to the coast and gather some things the tide bought in, I have found some lovely fossilized shells and smooth stones in the past. And I love to blend lemonbalm, rose, clover and oregano with honey. Jasmine tea is also really nice.

Welcome, @rebecca8 and Merry Meet! We’re so glad you decided to join us.

I’m Feathertip, from SE Michigan. I’m a lifelong Pagan and, like you, I love to work with Nature and stay close to all her critters.

I practice Yogic meditation and I will look this up. I’m intrigued!

Your practice sounds just lovely. I’m always happy in my kitchen.

I grow herbs :herb: year-round, when my Michigan winters allow it. This one has been a bit brutal with the cold! I still nurture a very tired basil plant by the window, three parsley plants and a rosemary plant. They are starting to struggle a bit.

I gather bird feathers, just to keep them nearby, and I have 5 chrysalises from my soul-bird friends. :butterfly:

I love plain chamomile the best, with a bit of local honey in it. Jasmine is a close second! I’ve not experimented with many blends.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions about anything if you have trouble wandering around the site! Everyone is very friendly and kind.

You’re in the right place. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :sparkles: :feather:

Welcome. This is such a great community here. I am new to this coven and this sort of life style. It sounds as though we have some things in common. I just recently started practicing/learning Qigong. I too have cats and chickens (and other animals).

Its great to meet you  looking forward to learning with&from you!

Wonderful introduction!

I’m Dan and I study belief systems. While I don’t grow things for my path, I certainly make things. Getting a connection is so much easier when it is personalized.

My path, which falls loosely under the Chaos label, uses meditation a lot. I love it.

Jump in and enjoy all the things going on!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Feathertip, hello, and Merry Meet! I’ve never tried Yogic meditation, but I think they are both meditation styles that focus on breath and movement? Probably some very similar principles at the core, though like with everything, the infinite variety of ways to approach the universe are all uniquely worthwhile too. I’m intrigued too!
I grow herbs year-round too, but I do envy your skills at keeping basil alive by the window, I never manage that. I do have rosemary, lavender, and some others going out in the garden. Rosemary never really gives up!

c11, hello, nice to meet you! How awesome that you have cats and chickens too! I really enjoy Qi Gong for body, mind and spirit. I hope it can bring you some of the same peace and healing its brought me. I look forward to learning alongside you too!

Hi Dan, thanks the hello. Meditation is kind of the backbone of working with energy and intent for me, and I agree wholeheartedly about connecting being so much easier when you personalize things. Whether physical or through planning a ritual or whatever it may be. What kind of things do you like to make?

Merry Monday Rebecca,

Welcome and you will find plenty of people to meet with here. We have a daily tarot pull and Lenormand read, if you care to join. Jump in any time, no commitment.

I cannot really answer your questions as I’m from Vegas, Baby, Vegas, and have even managed to kill 2 cactus. I don’t grow any herbs or anything (oops I did plant 2 palm trees in the front yard from seedlings and now they are taller than the house). I’m not real into tea, but my son has been drinking green tea, and I like that.

Have a great time exploring this site, you are very welcome here!!:upside_down_face:

Hello @rebecca8 and greetings from the Olde World!
I´m Katharina, an art-witch and art therapist from Vienna, Austria! I´m practicing magick very much through art making! I love altar craft, candle making, poppet work, spell boxes, jars and all kinds of creative magic shenanignas. Working in my Book of Shadows is a big part of my pratice. I love all things tarot and practice this art since many moons.

I would say, what I´m growing (or at least I´m trying) for my craft is rosemary and garden sage on my window sill. I don´t have access to a garden, so I´m trying to grow stuff indoors. The garden sage is not a big fan of staying indoors over winter, but it is still freezing here and I have to wait a few more weeks before it can sit outside again.
And I´m always gathering art supplies  Can´t resist a new sketchbook, paintbrush or some fancy new paints, especially if they are glittery. Working part time in an art supply store makes it easy, too.

This would be Earl Grey. If had to choose only one tea to drink for the rest of my days, it would be Earl Grey. :teapot:

I´m looking forward to getting to know you and chatting with you!

Brightest blessings! :dizzy:

Merry meet @rebecca8,

Welcome to the forum! I’m Bry, one of the moderators and an Eclectic Witch. Just wanted to pop in and say hi

Thanks for the intro questions - these are fun!

I grow some herbs in the gardens and I think my favorite is the lavender. It blooms in the summer and I love to go out and fill baskets with the stems. I then hang them on lines inside to dry - being able to see and smell the purple/blue flowers in winter makes me happy :purple_heart:

I have a black tea with cornflower I’m drinking at the moment and its nice, but I think my favorite right now is just a simple green tea. It’s easy to make and helps get me up and moving in the morning! :teacup_without_handle:

Wishing you a lovely trip to the coast! The ocean gives so many gifts to those who go looking. I hope you have a fun time foraging and that you find lots of treasures :spiral_shell:

Please make yourself at home here! I’m looking forward to chatting with you more around the forum

Blessed be!

Terrific Tuesday Katharina, Totally different subject…..just saw a derailment in Switzerland….are you and yours okay? We just had a big storm hit California and hitting us last night and now. Winds almost 50mph and cold! Is your weather being compatible? Last Week East Coast, now, West Coast….we gotta hunker down now.:upside_down_face:

Hi, @rebecca8! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum! :infinite_roots:

It’s nice to meet you! What a great intro!

I’ve got to tell you the truth. I envy your growing abilities. Because I have a black thumb. So, between that and being disabled, the only thing I gather is dust. LOL! I do have a great incense stick collection, though, and I love books. I don’t even have to read them all. I see a sale on a Kindle book I think is interesting, and I’m there for it!

I love Earl Grey tea! I got into it thanks to Captain Picard, but stayed for the flavor. I tend to collect tea varieties, too, though. I have a Honey Turmeric Vitality Chai, one that I’m enjoying right now, and one that’s lemon and mint called Good Vibes. I can always use more vitality and good vibes!

I’ve got to ask, does the cat chase the chickens? Or do they get along? An enquiring mind wants to know!

Anyhoo, it’s nice to meet you! I look forward to getting to know you!

Don´t worry, Love! I´m more than 600 miles away from that, sitting safe and sound in my cosy little apartment in Vienna. :purple_heart:

That´s quite a little storm! Vienna tends to be always windy, on some days even stormy with up to 75mph. Those days I don´t like leaving the house, because you´ll never know what the wind is going to throw around.

Thank you! I did a bit of online searching, and it seems Qui Gong meditation involves more physical movement than yogic meditation. Yogic meditation can be done anytime, anywhere, as it is a seated approach (or even lying down). I generally do it after actual yoga, which is (like you said) actual movement and breath combined in the various positions (asanas).

But I found a 10 minute beginner’s Qui Gong video aimed at the lower back and hips which are definitely problem areas for me - so I will be checking it out. Thank you for this introduction! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I make my own runes, card decks, wands, athames (though I don’t use wands or athames.. I got them, by golly), candle holders, poppets, etc. I have been making card decks like there is going to be a shortage or something.

I think card decks have become your specialty!

Merry Meet, Rebecca!

The rain has such beautiful, living energy. I love how you described even opening a window shifts the energy, that sensitivity to atmosphere is such a gift in craft and home magic.

I’m Stephanie or Eira of the Living Hearth, an eclectic witch from California. My own practice centers on hearth and green witchery, learning to grow and tend herbs, kitchen magic, crafting with natural materials, and keeping a very lived-in Book of Shadows. I also work a lot with divination (tarot, runes, oracle, Lenormand), ancestry and shadow work, and weaving self-care and daily ritual into ordinary life. Your love of gathering, note-keeping, and making things by hand feels deeply familiar.

Your coastal gathering plans sound wonderful; fossil shells and tide-worn stones carry such layered history. And that tea blend of lemon balm, rose, clover, oregano, and honey sounds both soothing and vibrant.

To your questions:
• Favorite thing to grow, I want to grow lavender, rosemary, thyme, and mint. I like to gather stones or natural objects that seem to “choose” me on walks with my daughter.
• Favorite tea blend: lemon and ginseng, chamomile, lavender sleepy tea, chai, green tea blends, and sometimes hibiscus if I have it on hand.

It’s lovely that you’re also working with Qi Gong and sound. Both weave beautifully with energy work and dream practice. I’m so glad you’re here, and I think you’ll find many kindred makers and nature-tenders in this space.

Welcome to the coven, Rebecca.
Blessed Be. :herb: :dizzy:

Greetings from New Mexico!

Welcome @rebecca8!

I’m a collector of information. Just starting my first digital BOS: my others were all done by hand.

Welcome to your precious pets, as well! My critter in residence is a zebra finch named Albus. He thrives on patterns, which makes him a great notification clock.

I live in an apartment with north facing windows. Birdseed grows briefly and fades without enough light. Thus I don’t grow much of anything.

Lately, local herbs have been coming to me for drying and use in bags and jars. It seemed to be a gift from just before my last move, through the fall, but I did find some redbud seed pods, recently, for which I still need to write out the correspondences. Our locals are often oddities which aren’t used elsewhere.

Red Sumac is the only tea I drink, and only for a sore throat. Other forms of tea make my stomach bleed, so I have to be very careful. I join the group rituals with juice or cider, usually.

And it smells so good in the rain!

Have you discovered the 13 moons 13 Goddesses threads yet? Here is February’s. Several of us are making statuettes. I’ve been making ornaments of mine though I’ve been a bit slow on the one for February! It isn’t too late to join in, if you’re interested.

What about you? What are your favorite things to make? We’d enjoy seeing pics, if you feel comfortable enough to share: pics often inspire more creativity.

Hi, Rebecca! I’m generally a lurker here but your info sparked me to respond. I love learning new things and research always makes me happy. I have two indoor cats and three barn cats and chickens. I also have a cockatiel and 5dogs too though

My favorite tea is butterfly pea tea because of the pretty blue color. I love crafting sprays to spread my intentions. I’m also deeply involved with the tarot for understanding myself and others.

Glad you’re here. Don’t be a lurker like me:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Jean, so glad you decided to “drop in”….feel free to join our daily tarot and/or Lenormand pulls. I love your idea of infused sprays. How do you make them? Like a lavender oil in water? or what? Have a great week!! Lady Gene :turtle:
