I discovered Spells8 while looking for information on how to cast a spell on behalf of someone else.
I was first introduced to Wicca by two brothers I met in college, who later became my roommates. Ironically, I was studying religions as part of my Anthropology minor, so I was very open and intrigued. I’m sure I was continually searching for my own spirituality during that time.
After my first child was born, my husband and I felt we should find some sort of church or belief system for him to be raised in. Ultimately, we were introduced and converted to the LDS church (Mormon) within his first few years.
My own spiritual journey clearly did not end there. I am not quite ready to share all the details that led me to this path. However, I was inspired to re-explore Wicca and paganism last year and dedicated myself to an initiatory year of practice on Samhain 2024.
Right now, I am overwhelmed with the shear amount of information on this site! But it couldn’t have come at a better time.
I think I might keep my assigned username - interesting that it happened to end with an infinite 8.
Welcome, @amber8 We are glad you found us too. I’m Jayne, originally from the UK, but have lived in Texas most of my life. I adopted the witch name Greenbriar as I feel it more closely aligns with my practice, which leans towards Earth and Nature magic.
Yes, there is a ton of information on this site, but take it at your own pace.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the info there is here. A lot to absorb! Just take your time, pick those that interest you the most to get you started. I know there’s like tons of information, but the Courses come in short bits, so they are easier to handle. You don’t have to rush; there’s no time limit or anything.

Welcome! I am a practicing Wiccan living in Alaska. Ironically I was born into the Mormon / LDS church, but had an interest in magical things from a young age. I had a lot of questions and frustrations that ultimately led me to officially leave the church just before the pandemic began. Almost 10 years ago I started seriously exploring paganism, though my first foray was during the earlier days of the internet, when ‘Charmed’ drew a lot of interest toward Wicca.
