I’ve been thinking about signs, and im wondering how you all know something is a sign as opposed to just life?
When I think back to the past few months, I actually feel embarrassed that I didn’t recognise certain things earlier. For example, a clock I’ve had for about 2 years, I haven’t changed the batteries since I bought it and it’s still on my window sill because it’s pretty. But the day after having a conversation about Wicca with my partner, it glowed - didn’t display the date, day, time, nothing, just glowed. Then the morning my crystals arrived, it glowed again, but this time in different colours… and it hasn’t glowed since. I tried to upload the videos but it won’t let me. At the time, I didn’t make either connection, yet it seems kinda obvious looking back.
So now, I find myself over-analysing everything and it’s giving me brainache, and I was just wondering if anyone else has struggled with interpreting signs from the universe/deities, and how they nagivate the very thin line between a sign and a coincidence? I’ve done research but I want to hear from humans lol…
Oooh glowing clock, that keeps glowing I’d take that as a sign.
For me a sign is something that’s repetitive that I can’t explain away as nature or science. My deity Loki loves tech especially my radios and has a blast with them (excuse the pun ).
He’s turned my ghetto blaster on, the radio on it when it had no batteries and wasn’t plugged in, and no it’s not solar either, at 1am - it ended up halfway down the street in a communal bin by hubby who got mad with it. I’ve lost a few ghetto blasters this way
Now, Loki uses my radio in my car, it switches to travel news, anywhere in UK, even when I’m nowhere near, whether there’s a cd in it, my phone playing music via aux, it switches them off and then changes the channel to travel news . One time I even got Indian radio when my mum challenged him and said it was a tech/programming thing she went quiet . Thankfully hubby has not thrown the car away
So the question is - which deity/ancestors/spirit likes clocks
@Ostara See, that has been my belief for decades… but then there are things which just don’t seem to have any meaning, or at least it’s not clear to me… or maybe they’re the kind of things which won’t become clear for years… sigh lol.
@tracyS Loki sounds like he walks the very thin line between hilarious and irritating lol… as for who likes clocks, when I asked I got Isis, the clock is shaped like a moon though so maybe Selene…
He’s fun, he’s chaos energy as a chaos deity so life’s never dull.
Isis and Selene - interesting. I looked up spiritual meanings of clocks:
“It can be interpreted as spiritual communication and may convey messages from the spirit realm or the universe” Google (there’s hundreds more answers to, to do with numbers, time etc)
I am pretty oblivious to signs as well. It would literally have to hit me in the face or be really strange for me to pay it attention That’s when I go to divination. I use tarot or my ouija board. Pendulums don’t work for me. And even better yet if you have a deity in mind start talking to them call them forth respectfully and tell them you would like the answer in ur card. Or whatever u use. If I do cards it’s a one card draw. And I let the deity know. In one card I’d like your answer. If you aren’t opposed to demons. Marbas dearest would be a good one. He answers all and any questions and will come when called always. It’s just how he is. Straight shooter
Edit: my gut and chest tell me things first always. I always trust my gut
I know I’m late to the discussion, but I’m a bit more along the lines of “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar” or that not everything has a hidden meaning or message.
That being said when things are slapping me in the face, I do take time to reflect and acknowledge it. Honestly most of the time, it’s only looking back that I realized I missed what should have been obvious signs in my journey.
For me, a sign is a sign if it happens multiple times or I can’t explain it away. So, for example, hearing a cardinal out my office window wouldn’t be something I would consider a sign right now because this is the time of year they come out and start building their nests for mating season. However, if I were to hear or see a cardinal outside my office window outside of their usual season or hours – such as in the evening or the dead of winter – then I would consider that important and something worth exploring.
It’s really easy to get lost in the idea that everything is a sign. When this happens, our intuition becomes muddy and we can’t focus on what the actual messages are.
Learning to tell signs apart from everyday life is an important part of cultivating our intuition. That will be your guiding light when it comes to discerning signs from spirits.
It’s honestly kind of soothing to know that I’m not the only one who struggles, and that others flit between ‘it is what it is’ and ‘everything’s a sign’ too.
@MeganB I’ve actually read through those links already, that’s where I started lol… I guess I just wanted to hear/read someone else say that they miss things too.
I’ll definitely keep using divination to interpret, and I’ll work on finding the balance… thanks again everyone!
That’s totally valid! It’s a gripe I have with many creators in online spaces. We (because I’m guilty of this too, lol) tend to only talk about times things have gone right or been obvious. Creators could definitely do a better job of sharing everything to let their audiences know it’s totally normal to miss signs or think something is a sign when it’s not.
If you still want to show us a video, try uploading to YouTube or TikTok and sending us a link.
Don’t be embarrassed. It happens all the time- both that everything is a sign and that nothing is a sign.
It feels good when we recognize signs because recognition can be rare at times. Most of the time, recognition happens in hindsight or those little comments that are insignificant at the time but turn out to be true. The odd part is how you thought to record the glow at the time.
Now that the coincidence is defined, what was the glow trying to impart? Is it a comforting acknowledgement of the conversation/delivery? Or is there something you need to act upon? That is the real test of signs: if it is useable in life in some way. For example, hearing screaming just before Covid struck was unnerving, but ultimately unuseable in my life: I received no hints on how to get through it, just that it was real.
@MeganB I agree, it’s easier to share when things go right… we should all be just as comfortable sharing when something doesn’t go to plan.
@georgia brilliant idea, I’ve never uploaded anything, there was never a need lol! I’ll edit my original post and add the links there, and thank you, it’s like a little moon on the shelf I needed something toddler-proof lol! As for the meaning… I like to think it means I’m on the right path, and I should keep going?
x Blessed Be x
Okay I can’t edit the original post so here’s the link to the videos:
As you can see, the clock face itself is completely blank both times: when it has batteries, it displays the time, day, date, temperature like this (Amazon pic):
