I am a newbie witch

Good morning everyone. I guess you could consider me new to everything. Im still trying to figure out the “proper” way of doing everything. Im from a very small Christian town with zero belief in anything outside of Christianity so i am a rarity in my area lol. Im looking to connect with other like minded people and be guided in the way of the craft. I have always felt there was more than just Christianity since i was little, but small town mentality i had to keep quiet. Any advice, readings, anything is much appreciated right now. I am like a sponge!

Hello and welcome, Virginia!

My name is Megan and I’m one of the moderators here on Spells8 – nice to meet you

When it comes to witchcraft, there isn’t really a “proper” way to do anything unless you’re following a specific tradition that has its own set of rules. You’ll learn all about this as you move through your studies, though! Oh, by the way – have you seen the courses on Spells8? That’s a good place to start with learning information!

You may also want to check out the #witchy-wisdom and #recommendations categories. There’s a lot of information in there about books, education, different topics, and so much more!

I’m happy to meet you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: and I look forward to getting to know you more!

Welcome to the forum :infinite_roots: & the Spells8 site! I’m Siofra_Strega one of the moderators in the forum also! I’m from Cape Cod & have been here for about 2 years & a little over 3 months. I agree with @MeganB going through the courses is a great place to start to find out if something works for you or interests you & all kinds of great information is in them

I wholeheartedly agree with this too! I can’t say the way I do things is proper, but it’s what feels good to me. It’s more about what feels good to you & how you choose to practice plus whether that way is part of a specific tradition that you follow.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Someone will be along to get you pointed in the right direction or share anything with us that you may have learned! We love to learn too & are very friendly & helpful!

I hope you have a great day & I look forward to chatting with you soon! :dizzy: :revolving_hearts:

Hello :hugs: and Welcome home :infinite_roots: @virginia8

It’s nice to meet you, Virginia, I’m Marsha, an eclectic solitary witch, from Colorado. I’m so glad your path has led you here to Spells 8.

I was also raised as a Christian, I know how hard it can be to overcome the dogma they teach, or more like brainwash. (No offense to any Christian Witches) I worked with Angels for many years, before I opened the closet door. In fact, I still work with Angels, but also Gods and Goddesses!

I agree with everything @MeganB and @Siofra_Strega said. The courses are a great place to start. There are lots of friendly and helpful people here so if you have any questions, just ask! Q&A

Welcome to the family :people_hugging:

With love  and magick :dizzy: always

Hi @virginia8! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum! :infinite_roots:

I hear ya about being alone in a conservative part of the country! I think that’s what drew me to paganism so much, the freedom of it! That and the balance, it didn’t seem fair to only worship a Father God. Where was the woman in this equation, you know?

I second, or maybe is it third, going through the courses! They’re chock full of good information that will get you started on your research. And once you get started you’ll never want to stop! LOL! At least I haven’t.

If you need anything or have any questions just ask and someone will pop up to help you out. I look forward to getting to know you better!

Merry meet @virginia8,

Wishing you a warm welcome! I’m Bry, another moderator here in the forum and an Electic Witch with a love for travel- it is a pleasure to meet you

I love your enthusiasm and passion- and when it comes to exploring the Craft, you’re in a really great place! :books::sparkles: If you haven’t already found them, I recommend taking a look at the Courses- each one focuses on a popular area of magick. They are a great way to deepen a favorite skill or build a solid foundation in different magickal talents.

And like Megan said, the forum here is another great resource at your fingertips! You are warmly welcome to call on the coven to answer any questions, get a second opinion, or simply chat about magick- your coven is here for you :infinite_roots:

Looking forward to talking with you more soon- Blessed be! :sparkles:
