That’s interesting @Mami_Water Do you have any recommendations for smaller ants?

@Ostara Let us know if the grits work!

About 2 months ago my granddaughter and I planted sunflowers. I think I might need.to thin them out, but I don’t want to kill the poor little things. They are about 3 to 4 feet now. I will take a pic tomorrow. My neighbor is having a drunken party at the moment and I don’t want to go outside. Lol!

@marsha the same. Instant grits you can watch them carry them back to their queen. It’s amazing but I like as much organic stuff as I can get !!

Of course! I’ll do a bit more research on it first before I try that. I may have to wait until the Fall so it isn’t too hot or too wet

@Ostara – I know full well all about those nasty fire ants! They’re massive here in Florida and will even float and swim in water! :exploding_head: Those damn things aren’t nice at all!

Grits?? Really?! Like the food? I never would have thought of that! :astonished: I’m gonna have to try that  I’ve also heard diatomaceous earth works well, too, though I’ve never tried. Fire ants killed many of my plants last year. I lost an eggplant, 2 broccoli, and 2 cauliflower!

@Ostara, you have neighbors like we do! We live next to the parking lot of an apartment building, and some residents like to party and play loud music! Occasionally there is a fight or argument, and we often see police lights over there! I encourage the vines to grow on the fence and I also have bells and chimes in my yard to clear the negative energy! :bell:
I’m looking forward to pictures tomorrow… hugs :hugs: :sunflower:

I have lived in my house for 30 years and my neighbors next door sold there property, so I am not used to this. The first time they had a party it was on a Sunday night and the music was so loud my windows were shaking. I met my new neighbors in my pajamas. Since then they have kept.the music down. I can hear it in the yard, but not in the house.

When I see people walking around in flood waters, eeeekkk! Those fire ants float!

I am going to try the grits though. Hubby poisoned the back, but we have more in the front.

That works well for ear wigs too.

It also works for fleas!

@Ostara – We’ve got some ant bait that we’ve used before, but we’ve got puppies and they like the smell so we can’t use it right now. Boiling water works well, too, if you can pour enough of it at a time to seep down into the ground to kill the queen!

@Phoenix_Rose – I don’t think I’ve seen ear wigs here in Florida… I’ll have to keep that in mind though, just in case!

It’s to far to the back for boiling water, but I could try it around the house. I am going to try the grits.

When it’s not rainy season anymore, grits are on my list to try, too! But our rainy season just started and if I were to put grits in the yard, I’d have mush everywhere  I hope it works for you – keep us updated!

My flowers finally bloomed today

Not sure if anybody likes cactuses but this is one of my favorites it’s called a golden barrel

That’s a beautiful flower!

And I don’t mind a cactus every now and then  They don’t do well here in Florida, but they’re pretty! We have other kinds of succulents that do okay as long as they’re indoors.

That’s ok. I haven’t seen fire ants here in Ontario

Believe me, your are lucky to not have fire ants. I would love to go and lay on the grass. It’s not happening in Texas. Lol!

I got a few pics of the sunflowers. You can’t tell, but they are 3 to 4 feet tall.

@Ostara – Ohh how I would love to go lay in the grass! :sob: I miss it so much! I’m even apprehensive to sit in the grass on a blanket or towel! :joy: You’re not alone! :sunflower: Your sunflowers are gorgeous, too! I can’t wait to see them bloom!

@crystal59 – Interesting! I’ve never heard of that flower. I’ll have to look it up!
