The baby has been born! Not sure of weight yet, but he looks big for being 7 weeks early.
That you for all the blessings!

Happy birthday @Amethyst all the best wishes for your next ride around the sun!

Sending love and healing thoughts to both of you! ![]()
Congratulations!! So happy he’s out! It’s interesting that he looks big for being so early - clearly, he is already bucking what’s expected of him! You may have a little warrior there, small but fierce! ![]()
@Amethyst Happy Birthday, beautiful! We will have to know how the cheesecake turns out once you put it all together with the cherries!
Have a wonderful day!
Please do! I hope it all goes smoothly for Eric and you can get a nap later! ![]()
That sounds brutal. It really does! Here in Michigan, a couple years ago, we had overcast days for about six weeks in a row and the weather people were commenting on the historical nature of the total lack of sunny days.
It definitely wears on your soul - keep fighting and I’ll send you some sunshine!

Thanks @katharina and @Feathertip!
I was thinking his big sister was born at 33 weeks, but she was born at 30. She was teeny tiny and had to stay in the hospital for months. This little one weighted 5 lbs 5 oz. That’s how big my second child was and she was full term. I’m not sure yet, but I don’t think he will have to stay in the hospital any longer than a full-term baby.
Well it’s been four hours and the doctor just came out to let me know everything went well. Now it’s just hurry up and wait while he comes out of the anesthesia and goes into recovery.
Longest 4 hours of your life?
I’m so glad that it’s behind you and you’ll get to see him in recovery soon. Great news - thank you for keeping us in the loop!
That’s a decent weight, I agree! Here’s hoping he gets to go straight home with Mom and Dad. ![]()
That’s great! I’m happy everything went well!
Terrific Tuesday Ostara,
Oops, I’m a little late
to the party. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Lady Gene ![]()
Thanks @leilani1!
I made it to the doctors office and now I have to go to a foot doctor because they think it may be a stress fracture. I can’t get in to see the foot doctor until March 12th.
A possible foot fracture, and still no available appointments until March 12th??
That’s some crap.
You’d think a specialty practice would keep some same-day or emergency type appointments avaliable.
Be extra careful until then! ![]()
The funny thing is that I called my doctors office back to see if they could get me in faster by putting urgent on it. The response was “it’s not broken or fractured so she won’t do that.” So a stress fracture isn’t a fracture I guess. I don’t like the health care system very much.![]()
Congratulations! I’m so glad everyone is okay! ![]()
Thanks, hon! It’s starting off great! I’ve had cheesecake and jelly donuts today! My blood sugar doesn’t like me, but my tummy does.
Thank you, dear heart! The cheesecake was great! It was whipped, so that made it not as dense. And my friend brought me some strawberries tonight, so I can have some strawberries over the other half! Yum!
Glad everything went well! Hopefully he’ll be all weird and funny instead of sick from the anesthesia!
Man, that’s not good. I hope they have something to help you with the break until then.
Yeah, the whole system is cruddy.
Tearful Tuesday Ostara,
My son and I both “fractured” our feet, and by the time we were seen the only way to fix it was to re-break it. Both of us (even though these events were years apart) were like, I’ve already walked on it this long, I’ll deal with it. So, I literally, “feel your pain.”![]()
Lady Gene
So I had to look that up - how is a stress fracture different from a regular fracture:
A fracture is a crack in the bone that can be formed by continual stress to the bone (stress fracture) or from a sudden trauma on the bone (regular fracture). There is a truly diverse array of fracture types. Some may lead to complete loss of function of the injured limbs while others may be nearly imperceptible most of the time.
Stress fractures are tiny cracks that form in the bone from repetitive stresses or added weight on the bone. Running or repeatedly jumping at full force on asphalt or carrying a heavy bag and walking for miles on end are examples of activities that may contribute to stress fractures. This type of fracture is most common among athletes and runners.
Normally, the bone is able to remodel slowly to meet the demands of physical activity. Someone who does martial arts might have remodeled bones in areas where they’ve experienced frequent impacts. This remodeling strengthens the bones in the areas affected.
Stress fractures occur when the repetitive impact occurs too often, too quickly and at too high of a force for the bone to remodel fully. These fractures are tiny and can even develop from normal use if the bone has been weakened by a medical condition. Stress fractures occur most often in the weight-bearing bones of the body, like the feet.
I hope you can keep it comfortable until your appointment - perhaps get one of those boots for fractures from Walgreens or CVS.
Eric and I literally spent all day at the hospital. His procedure ( an “electrophysiology study with catheter ablation”) took four hours, and then he was in recovery another 3 - 4 hours. We finally got out of the hospital right at rush hour! Thank goodness we were able to use Kelsey Rides to schedule a Lyft driver to take us home. It took two hours and I’m really glad I was not behind the wheel because we were stuck in traffic for a lot of it.
My little spell pouch in my pocket was a grounding source of comfort throughout the day.
@leilani1 I don’t want to even think about that!
@Greenbriar wow, that’s crazy. At least you had your little spell pouch. I lost my manners with this poor guy when I was trying to talk to my doctors office. The office doesn’t have a direct number. Why? Because ma’am they get a lot of phone calls so we have to put you through. So put me through. They aren’t answering. How do they get a lot of phone calls because their patients can’t get through. I was pissed and I never get irate with people over the phone. Maybe I’m turning into a grumpy old woman now that I’m 59.
And then I finally get to the office and they tell me it’s not broken or fractured so they can’t put urgent on the order. WTF? They did sent me some extra strong naproxin to the pharmacy. I hope it lasts for the next 3 weeks.
@Ostara I have found that the amount of grumpiness in me is directly proportional to the lack of customer service/human decency/professional courtesy that I am having to deal with from other people.
I suspect you are the same. I hope the naproxin gets you through the next three weeks - just take it easy and keep your foot up as much as you can.
Oh, I’m so glad it was good - the strawberries on top should be delicious, too!
Hope your birthday was fun and a happy day.
You deserve it!
@Greenbriar - that’s good info on the stress fracture! It sounds like it could be fine, or end up really bad. She can’t know for certain until she gets in there.
So glad you and Eric got home safely! Wonderful that you got to just relax in the car and let someone else deal with the rush hour traffic.
@Ostara - I’m so sorry you got the runaround on your appointment for this! Hopefully the medication will help you along until then. Go easy!
You have every reason to get grumpy over this. Pretty sure I’d be the same way - no one likes being jerked around, especially when you’re in pain!
Thank you @Greenbriar and @Feathertip. When I went to urgent care a few weeks ago, they gave me this boot thing, but that makes my foot hurt worse. It’s been a stressful week and it’s only Tuesday.![]()
@Ostara but you DO stay home, right…? With an injured foot…you wouldn´t go to work. Right?
Three weeks?
Naproxin should not be taken any longer than five days. What nightmare is this again??
@Greenbriar I´m glad to hear that everything went well, but I´m a little bit surprised that he wasn´t kept in the hospital for the night.
This must have been such an exhausting day! ![]()
You guys are hardcore.
Take good care of yourself, dear! ![]()
I hope everyone is having -if not good- an acceptable wednesday.
Much love goes out to you brave witches! ![]()
I feel your pain. I once had to drive Mom and me home after a procedure on her from Walter Reed in DC. It was near the first of the month, during rush hour, right after the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, and there was construction. By the time we made it to a town outside of the Beltway, I was a nervous wreck, and Mom was fully awake and able to take over. Thank gods!
Thanks, love! I had a good day full of friends and good food! What more can anyone ask for?
